Mommy2three got a reaction from Pre-OpLoser619 in Tomorrow Is The The Big Day
Surgery went well, I was out of it all day the first day but I've been getting better, went home yesterday and have been trying to take it easy. That's a little tough with my little ones. Tolerating Clear Liquids just fine, even tried a little Protein Shake which I held down just fine.
    Hope everyone is doing well

Well, it has finally arrived...surgery in t minus 15 hours I will walk into the hospital to take control of my life. That's right "MY Life"...I am determined to reclaim what is mine!!!
In all honesty - a little jitters and nerves but otherwise ready to get the show on the road. I can not thank everyone on this site enough for all of the honesty, information, encouragement, etc. I have made a few new friends as well to go through this journey with.
When I wake up tomorrow afternoon (fully wake up ) I will be sitting on the official losers bench. As exciting that is, that will just be the beginning of my journey to a healthier me. Another month of liquids to mushies to testing out new flavors and tastes.
So here is a big hug for everyone having surgery tomorrow and best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery. Looking forward to moving on with "MY Life"

Have to be at the hospital in less then 36 hours. Getting super super nervous. I know everyone goes through this, unfortunately I have the extra stress of a very ill mother and a marriage that is falling apart
This two days of clear liquid only is driving me a nuts, but I'm sticking with it!! Best of luck to my fellow July sleevers!! Hopefully I'm not the only nervous one

Mommy2three reacted to CJ_Redux in Cheating On Pre-Op Diet
I cheated on my pre-op. I'm not proud of it, but I did it. Several times. I was really afraid I'd get to my surgery day and the doctor wouldn't be able to operate. But he told me everything went fine, my liver was a good size, etc. So I was happy about that.
I had to do a 14-day pre-op of only liquids. For an over-eater like me, that was just too difficult. But for the last 5 days, I stuck to the pre-op strictly, which included the last 3 days of only Clear Liquids. I have a feeling the last 3 days is all that was needed. However, I AM NOT ADVOCATING CHEATING ON YOUR PRE-OP!! Try your best not to! I'm just being honest about my situation.

I'm surprised anyone is with the carbs that are in them. IMO 20g carbs is high but while writing this, the point is to lose fat around the liver and not weight, so I guess since they are no or low far it makes since!
Nevermind go on with your business LOL

I had to do liquids for 2 weeks. I felt like crap for the first 3 days, but then was just fine. I had Atkins Advantage premixed for Breakfast everyday. I also bought 1st Phorm powder mix and had 1 or 2 a day. I didn't have any food though and drank Water w/ crystal light. I was supposed to drink 5-8 shakes a day, but couldn't do that...ugh. In those 2 weeks I lost 20.8 lbs and as of tomorrow I will be 1 week post-op. Hang in there...it gets easier!

Wow, that has got to be the most stringent pre-op I've seen. Mine consisted of 2 days of liquids & yogurt, then nothing at all 6hrs before surgery.

First tip, quit soda now, quit caffeine now. Imagine having to quit while doing the pre-op shake diet? That will suck.
Second tip. If you are going to have your "last dinner", don't do it the DAY BEFORE you start your shake. It will make you even hungrier if you do carb overload the day before you start the shake diet.
Do it a few days before. A few days before, drink a slim fast or whatever "100% whey Protein shake" you decide to do after surgery for Breakfast. Lower your carbs as much as you can in advance.
The day before you start your shake diet, do a sensible dinner with Protein, and do low carbs. The people that do carb overload the day before they start the pre-op shake seem to have the hardest part sticking to the pre-op shake diet.
Tell yourself you can do it and believe it before you start. Mental state, state of mind, and the will to make your sleeve work will make this much easier. If you think that it's going to suck so bad, it will. If you think, I'm doing this because I'm worth it and it may not be easy, but I'm strong enough to get through this, then you will.
Keep busy, walk, drink Water and go ahead and exercise. Clean your closets, clean your drawers, find all your biggest clothes and decide if they should be packed yet. Start looking around to see if you have smaller sizes, because it's going to happen.
Find as many nightgowns as you can and make sure they are freshly laundered (especially if you are going to have a drain).
Make sure you have your Clear liquids, make sure you buy your Gas-X, do your hair, straighten out your bills for the time in the hospital, make a check list of the reasons WHY you are having this surgery and read it every time you think you can't do the 2 week pre-op shake.
I did the 2 week pre-op shake and didn't cheat and I'm over 3 weeks out and still am on liquids. I have a 5 week liquid before I move to purees, unless you are going through my surgeon, your doctor may not be as strict.
Be careful at first because liquid in liquid out, and I have only had this issue once.....once...NEVER TRUST A fart. I was in bed, I was fine, I exercised, I was doing great and I got a little gas bubble and I decided to get up luckily I got out of bed just in time....those pj bottoms were too big anyhow and ended up trashed, and I ended up with a shower again...right before bed. It only takes once.
Day 3 & 4 are usually the hardest. You don't become lethargic, you aren't going to "starve to death", realize you are probably getting better nutrition than you did over the last 6 months You can do it, keep up the mantra.
Walk, drink Water, and realize the sleeve is only a tool and it's up to you to work the tool, you can do it.
