Sansa got a reaction from DSLdiversity in Anyone Looking For A Great Christian Doctor Or Undecided For Any Reason?
You were so blessed to have a Christian doctor, lighteningbug! I can't think of anything more comforting than having a surgeon that prays about the surgery before taking your life in his hands. That's wonderful! Unfortunately, I don't get to pick my surgeon. Maybe I should start praying now for a good one like yours...

My dad always said that he never felt old inside. He said that although his body aged, his spirit or soul always felt young. When I was younger, I always assumed that I would start feeling old at around 40-50 and now I'm thinking that maybe I will feel old at 60-70. However, my dad said that he felt like he was in his 20's when he was 65. I don't think that we are old either, shangefan, but if my dad's correct then maybe we will never feel old inside. Maybe our souls don't age since they are eternal. You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body. ~ C. S. Lewis

I don't understand why every time someone on this board says that he/she is hungry that others try to persuade he/she that he/she is confusing hunger with gas or thirst. We are all adults and know by now the difference between hunger, gas, and thirst. I was absolutely starving today but yet so many people on this board would seemingly have us all believe that I can't possibly be hungry on a 600 calorie diet! It really is ridiculous that everybody who claims to be hungry after surgery on this board is never taken seriously. It is entirely possible that the multitude of people who experience severe hunger after the surgery on a 600 calorie diet are actually...wait for it...HUNGRY.

Both men and women will nearly always denigrate a person if that person make them feel inferior or threatened for any reason. They feel the need to insult or belittle you in order to make themselves feel better about themselves. Besides that though, females are territorial. If you encroach on what a particular female deems to be her territory then she will often find any reason to attack you and will encourage others to do the same in an effort to convince you that you don't belong in her territory. Maybe she had her eye on the guy that flirted with you first.

Sansa got a reaction from FDclerical in Six Days Post-Op, And I Am Hungry!
I am 3 weeks out and starving most of the time. I have found that adding Fiber to my Protein Shakes and puddings tends to fill me up better. Being in the puree stage, I also am able to fill up on pureeing meat with canned Soups. I must admit that I am discouraged too though because I was really hoping that the surgery would help me overcome hunger but it hasn't so far. I have also only lost 5 lbs since surgery. I'm not sure that I would have had the surgery if I had known that this would be the result. I actually just bought some appetite suppressants to help me with the hunger. I'm thinking that another way to deal with the hunger though is to make sure that we eat or drink something, no matter how small, every 2 hours. I have to set an alarm to remind myself. I find though that I am much more satiated if I force myself to have something every 2 hours than if I only eat or drink 3 times a day.

My diet recommends 20-30% of daily calories come from carbs-or max of 20 grams/day at 600 calories. I track on MFP so I can see some days I'm fine but others I'm over. When I have 2 Protein Shakes a day as 2 meals and a few dairy items, I'm good. Once I increase food and decrease shakes, the % goes up.

Same here! I was so hopeful and excited reading all the posts where people declared that they were no longer hungry. EVER. I so wanted to be one of them! I was 100% SURE that having my fundus removed would eliminate the gherlin, and thus, solve all my hunger problems. That's didn't happen. I WISH it did, but it didn't.
I eat much more frequently now because I can no longer pack in the # of calories it takes to fuel my mass for 6 or 7 hours at a time. The fact that I still get hungry was unexpected and disappointing!

I agree that hunger still feels like hunger and reflux like reflux and thirst like thirst. Taking antacids and drinking lots of Water does absolutely nothing for my hunger. One of my main reasons for having the surgery was that I hoped that it would help me with hunger but, thus far, it hasn't. In fact, I have to deal with hunger a lot more since I can only take in 100-200 calories at a time.

I have to agree. My 209 lb body requires a lot of calories to maintain. I get lots of exercise. OF COURSE I get hungry on 800 calories when previously I had been eating 3x that amount.
I HAVE had gas, I HAVE had thirst, and I HAVE had reflux, and to me, all of those things still feel like exactly what they are. They still feel like gas, thirst, and reflux, and only hunger feels like hunger, and it's not all in my head.
I think it's completely reasonable to feel hungry 3 hrs after a 150 calorie meal. I definitely did, and had to eat very frequently in the beginning.
I understand that some people still feel hungry. Everyones experience is different! Thank goodness it takes so much less to fill me up now.

I am 3 weeks out and I am famished most of the time. I find that mixing Fiber in with my Protein shakes and broths helps fill me up for awhile. Although it's a little too early for puree for you, I also pureed some beef with canned Soup last night and that filled me up for awhile. I have been so hungry though that I actually went out and bought some appetite suppressants.
After complaining to others on this board about my hunger, I realized that a lot of people get filled up by consuming a lot of fat like dairy products, Beans, and nuts. I simply can't eat those things and lose weight but that may explain why I am hungry all the time while others on this board are not.

I am 3 weeks out but have only lost 5 lbs. I have been concentrating on limiting my intake to 600 calories and 60 grams of Protein a day. My doctor didn't say anything in particular about sugars or carbs though. I have seen that some people on this board try to limit their sugars to 10 grams a day but that seems really low. Others concentrate on limiting their intake to under 40 grams of carbs a day. I was just curious about what kind of guidelines others try to follow as far as sugars and carbs? My opinion is that the sugar and carbs shouldn't really matter when I am only consuming 600 calories and 60 grams of protein but, since I haven't lost much weight, I'm beginning to wonder if it does matter?

Ok I don't know of someone already posted about something like this subject.... I am annoyed bc I was sleeved on the 7th and after 2 days of nothing by mouth period 1 day of cleats only and 5 days of full liquid of 600 cals or less daily I have lost not 1 pound since day of surgery... I know I was on IV Fluid for5 days but I have been off of them for 5 days and was hoping to see at least a couple of pounds gone.... I am not happy about this as you can tell

I am not really hungry however I have the desire to eat since I am still in the liquid stage I am allowed yogurt and pudding but I am tired of sweet tasting things.I cannot seem to take in all my liquid I am stuck between 30- 40 ounces as I still have an uncomfortable air feeling in my chest when I swallow.

at least we know that we aren't alone in our struggle...how is your hunger? the surgery hasn't diminished my hunger either. I wasn't hungry for the first couple of weeks but I tend to think it had to do with the pain medication and just not being able to eat. I'm out of pain medicine now and am hungry all the time! I just bought some hunger suppressants to help because the surgery certainly hasn't! The only thing that the surgery has really done for me is limited the amount that I eat but that hasn't really helped me in any way yet either.

I'm frustrated too. I am 3 weeks out and have only lost 5 lbs. I would have thought twice about the surgery if I had known that the weight loss would be so very slow. I could have lost more than 5 lbs without surgery!
