  1. coffee is a no no! causes reflux and even ulcers. you should not drink anything with meals---wait at least 30 minutes after meals. if you keep testing your sleep and vomiting you can have complications. stick with your surgeon's diet plan and don't cheat. at 3 wks you have alot of choices, everything soft of course, but you can eat moistened meats and cooked veggies, peeled and softened fruit. do not eat fried foods! it's something you need to commit to for life, to be healthier and use your sleeve to it's fullest. it's not easy to make these changes, but you really have to decide to make the sleeve you tool to start a new relationship with food, a healthier relationship. food is fuel. I'm going to be 4 weeks out tomorrow and I'm slowly learning to use my sleeve to build a healthier me.

    Rash After Surgery

had the same exact thing happen to me too! I thought I was the only one. you are allergic to steri strips. did you take them off? also clean the areas well with rubbing alcohol to dissolve and get rid of all the left over glue/debris. I tried hydrocortisone over the counter, worked a tiny bit, but then it got worse again. I was taking benadryl 50mg at night so I could stop itching and sleep, but I still woke up itching. So what actually worked was getting a prescription strength steriod ointment (triamcinolone 0.1% ointment twice a day) and putting this on took care of it within 1 day. had to tell the surgeon how to prescribe it (15 grams) lol!!! hope it goes away, it's so annoying, the itch was unbelievably uncomfortable

    By Myself For Recovery

I was by my self too! unfortunately 2 people can't take off work and still pay mortgage!!! it was fine. you will be fine. don't be nervous, I talked to people on the phone alot and this type of support helped me get through the emotional part of the journey and feeling alone. also have friends stop by and visit if you can, that helps too.

    Larger Bougie Size For Exbandits

wow! you are doing great. I had a 40 bougie, that's jus my surgeon's preference, but loss has been slow. I'm 4 wks out and down 16 lbs. I was wondering if you can give me any hints about how you are doing so well. do you exercise? and if so what kind? what do you eat? thanks

    Anyone Having Problems Sleeping?

oh maybe this is it? I have had the same problem, I go to sleep at 10am and then wake up for no reason at 2 or 3am and then can't go back to sleep, started about 2 weeks post op. how strange. hope it goes away soon. I'm exhausted!!! have sleep 4 hours a night for the last week

Ready To Toss The Scale Out The Window...

you have lost 28lbs! that's great. and you are exercising. it sound like you're doing great. you need to stop weighing your self and just focus on getting your protein and exercising. the weight is going to MELT off with how you exercise!!!!
  8. I mix unflavored protein with lactaid milk (can't have regular milk post-op) a banana and any flavored protein powder. it helps take the too sweet or bitter-sweet artificial taste of the flavored powders away and gives me alot of protien.

    Started Couch To 5K Today!

that's so great! I have a couch to 10K in august. but I had my ?sleeve on 1/23/12, I'm wondering when I can start? any thoughts
  10. sounds like you need to see your surgeon. I would get this checked to make sure it's nothing serious
  11. oh my, why are you trying to eat a 4oz fish 1 wk post op? 4 ounces is huge at this stage. I'm 3 wks out and i only eat 2 ounces. you need to drink protein shakes, no doubts about that. it should not take you 2 hours to eat something, if it does then it's too big and you shouldn't be eating all of it. also ketchup is a no no, it's all sugar.
  12. everything you are going through sounds oh so familiar. I had my surgery on 1/23/12, so all of this is still fresh for me. but it gets better day by day. tomorrow will be better and so on. hang in there and try your best with the liquids. sip slowly and all day long. right now your job is to sip. the getting up part, burping, coughing, and oh what's worse is sneezing all improve too.

    Typical Calorie Intake

it seems like you are losing alot. almost 20 lbs in a little more than 3 wks? that's alot. I had my surgery on 1/23/12 and only lost 14 lbs. not sure what I'm doing wrong. But I've heard from others that if you start less (like you and I---low 200's) then you lose slower. I started at 220 on my surgery date and now I'm 206. I also had to lose 30lbs before surgery.
  14. interesting. my surgeon used a 40 bouge. he said they found difference when compared with 32 bouge in terms of weight loss, but there were more complications with the smaller bouges. also I was told I could start solids like mushy food (yogurt, cottage cheese) right after I left the hospital.
  15. Hello Everyone, I had my surgery on 1/23/12 and I still can't get the hang of learning to eat slow. I finish a couple of teaspoons in about 10 minutes. No matter how I try to stretch it out, I can't seem to eat slower than that. I chew alot, I put down my utensil between bites. I try to wait between bites..... nothing helps and I'm getting pain from eating fast. Any advice or hints?

    How Long Was Your Process?

    Exercise Poll

I totally feel you on this one. I had my surgery on 1/23/12 and still not exercise. I have an 1hour and 15minute commute each way, so I get home around 7 too. It's really really hard to exercise after such a long day. so you're not alone. do what you can to keep moving, every bit helps. parking far from you office, using stairs..... what you can do
  20. Hello everyone, can you share with me how much weight you'll lost the first few weeks after surgery. I lost 10 lbs the 1st week but my scale has not budged for 1 wk. Eating everything by the book... not sure why I'm stagnating

I Wish Someone Had Told Me....

the nausea! I wish someone told me how nauseated I was going to be. I spent 1 week afterwards throwing up. the 1st two days were hell. I totally regretted the surgery, but it got better. I just wish I knew in advance.... just to prep my self I guess....
