So I had a gallstone early yesterday morning. I had an "attack" like that a couple of times previous to having my sleeve (actual once during last pregnancy), but I didn't know what they were and they werent as bad as yesterday's attack. Yesterday I was in SO MUCH PAIN!! I went to the ER, they gave me dilaudid (sp?) and did an ultrasound and sure enough my gallbladder is full of stones!! :-( they have referred me to a surgeon and said I need to have it taken out. I'm so not ready for yet another surgery! Also I'm supposed to be eating low fat to help prevent stones from moving until I get it out. Since surgery I have been more worried about Protein content and calories, not necessarily fat content. Does anybody have suggestions for me? Will my diet have to be any different after I have my gallbladder removed? What's the recovery like? (I was off for a month with lap-band and then a month with my sleeve because I'm an industrial maintenance technician, a very strenuous job). I feel like crying some more...ugh.

I'm still waiting to go back.. looking pretty cool though eh? hahaha

So excited! I finally made a decision and booked with dr Ponce on sept 27th. I figured I better book it soon before I chickened out! Lol! This is something I have been wanting/needing to do for a long time. I've done tons of research and really feel like this is the right thing for me. Now if I can just convince my friends and family that think I'm crazy!!! ????

Today is exactly two months post surgery. This morning I was down to 297 from 384. Total of 87 pounds lost so far. Eating nothing but Protein and small portions. Exercising on the elliptical an hour a day and then doing some light weight training and 100 situps a day. Best decision I ever made. Wish I would have done this 10

Hi there! Dr Ponce did my surgery on June 15 and my coordinator was trish! I have nothing but great things to say about them both! Dr ponce's pre-op diet is one of the easiest out there, simply nothing but yogurt (any kind) & Water for the three days before surgery! Good luck! I have lost 40 lbs already!

If u do take it, go to bed right away and stay there until u fall asleep!

well there was a big mix up about prices and coordinators but I ended up choosing the one that *I* felt most comfortable with after talking to many people on here and another forum. I guess it's a very personal decision.. I needed a surgeon with an outstanding reputation and a decent price that I could afford. I also wanted to be sure that the surgery would be performed in a hospital and I wasn't keen on the idea of staying in a "recovery house". I'm sure they are wonderful too but it's probably the nurse in me that really wanted a hospital. Also I searched and searched all over the internet and couldn't find anything negative about the coordinator I eventually chose (Trish with Wls-for-betterlife). Basically I read that she always books everything just right, gives great attention to detail, and former patients told me she really took time to be sure they were ok and taken care of while in Mexico.
Anyway, like I said I finally realized it's a personal choice and I am pretty sure they are all great surgeons. If you ask around on here it seems most people are partial to their surgeon as I am hoping I will be about mine after I'm done

I don't know where your getting your facts from but I don't mess around with bull I go straight to the source. Trish was with Dr. Kelly and Dr.Ponce way back when Dr. Ponce was training Dr. Kelly. That's right training Dr. Kelly. Lori has come on the scene as of late and wants to be Dr. Ponce one and only coordinator, if you want to talk cut throat then talk Lori. She has been given a ultimatum by Dr. Ponce. Trish did not burn her bridges Dr. Kelly did. When 2 different companies drop a Dr. there is something wrong with that Dr. And Dr. Kelly was dropped by coordinators with ethics. Trish (WLS) and Linda (a lighter me). Omar who was Trish's assistant now works for Dr. Kelly along with numerous other coordinators. Dr. Kelly is not allowed to work out of certain hospitals because he developed some questionable work ethics. Call the hospitals, do your research! I urge everyone to contact Trish as she is open and honest and does not run down Dr. Kelly. Dr. Kelly has done his own damage to himself. Trish is for the patient. So is Dr. Ponce. They are not into this business to gouge you for your pennys. They actually care and go out of their way for you.
Trish will be listed as his coordinator and pictured with him on their new website coming up soon. Good Luck and for God's sake do your research and ask the doctors questions, your life is on the line. PS You do not have to send Lori any money up front. Pay Dr. Ponce at the hospital.

thank you SOOO much everyone for your input!! at this point Laurie has me down for surgery on Sept. 14th with Dr ponce de leon and I am SOOOOOOO excited! I am still a teensy bit concerned that everything goes smoothly as far as making sure the hotel is booked etc... but I'll tell ya this, if she is a decent coordinator then I will SO be incredible advertising for her because you can bet I will be telling everyone on all forums all about my experience with her and with Dr. Ponce and with Mexico and with VSG in general!! hahahahaha

I have a huge, very noticeable dent in one of my incisions that looks like a belly button. I sucked my tummy in (LOL) too see if when I lost weight it would kinda even out. Nope. Does anyone else has this? Is the price for slimness two belly buttons? Thanks in advance for sharing. Ever bit helps give hope for a better future.

Omg!!! Tonight I realized that one of my fave foods is a perfect sleeve food!!....CRABS!! (or crablegs!--whichever!). I bought some frozen snow crab legs from the store and steamed up three clusters. I could only eat 1 1/2 clusters & I was stuffed! They were soooo yummy!! And they are perfect for the sleeve because they are full of Protein, easy to chew (tender), and they force you to eat slow! I'm so happy I discovered this tonight! I was getting kinda tired of tuna!

Update~~~I got my results yesterday afternoon. No stricture! Yay! But I do have a hiatal hernia and the beginnings of ulcers again. He changed my 2x daily prevacid to protonix 2x day and reglan and I see him on Monday. Thank the Lord no stricture!!!

I would say try a tums strip for the acid, keep gettin your Water in - maybe a small tsp. of evoo to prevent further upset, and let's assume you would be better off crushing your pills.
Thing is you may have irritated your tummy, which involves not just acid production but inflammation in the lining of your tummy - you tummy is a part of a huge system of nerves, and they do the strangest, damndest things! Including external facia and lining swelling - "sympathy" swelling - you can get this in the bowels too! the gut is a complex, wonderful thing.

Oh yay! Scar tissue is easy to deal with...or ignore. Leaving the port in would have been a pain, eventually.
Glad to hear the good news.

Totally understandable. My port sight was actually the sorest spot post surgery and still remains a little tender a month out. More proof that the band was a piece of garbage screwing up our insides. Hope you are feeling better.
