    Drain.....

i think it depends on your surgeon. my date is July 18 and i will have my drain in for a week. also my surgeon places the drain in the far left incision which is the incision which hurts the worst and takes longer to heal because the bigger camera goes in that incision. she gave me a lot of informative information during my pre-op/pretesting visit.

    Hot Dog! I Found It!

@ b4youreyes - also keep in mind that the body can only absorb approx. 27 grams of Protein at a time. so you could probably drink it in two parts. also i found having a Protein shake during pre-op (meal replacement) is best to have more nutrient values, i.e. Vitamin a, Vitamin D. it keeps you full longer and you're getting the nutrients of the missed meal. the protein shake with extremely high protein are geared me for extreme workouts...muscle repairing.

  5. ^^^thanks i think i was looking at the bars. sorry.
  6. after i read this post i went to the website and it read 330 calories unless there's a light one. i'll double check. thanks!
  7. ^^^BINGO!!!! ok thanks iwannabeslim! i didn't know what it was...lol thanks everyone, I will trying blending as well as room temp.
  8. is 330 calories a lot?
  9. ^^^are you "pulsing" or straight blending? i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I haven't tried it with milk because the flavors i've tried were fruit flavor and i didn't think milk would mix well with a fruit juice. does that make sense?
  10. i have tried 3 different syntrax nectar and neither mixed very well, not even in my personal blender. i had lemonade for lunch today and could not finish it because of the lumps....DISGUSTING!!! i even put my cup back on the blender and blended some more...still had lumps. i used cold bottled water. any tips? has anyone else had this problem?

    Insurance Requires Weight Watchers?

most approvals are based on the STRUGGLE of losing and keeping the weight off...so if you've gained weight BEFORE you've started the approval process is should not be a problem. again i would be more concerned with not gaining during the approval process because i have heard of surgeries being postponed due to weight gain = liver not shrinking. yes WW should have your weigh ins and payment history. if i read correctly you have not been enrolled in a couple of months....RE-ENROLL IMMEDIATELY! i had stopped my WW membership in December 2011 and decided to have wls in March 2012...as soon as my coordinator found out she told me to re-enroll before my first visit with their office. I re-enrolled the that very day...i'm due to have my surgery this month!

    Insurance Requires Weight Watchers?

Has anyone else come across this requirement? How do I prove this? What if I didn't loose while on it or loose too much to make me below 35 BMI? don't sweat it. i was freaking out looking for this answer. i gave my wls coordinator my bank statement as proof. you can also give them your weighs in, weekly/monthly receipts, etc. it's that easy. as far as losing...it doesn't matter if you lose or not...if it worked you wouldn't need the surgery so that shouldn't negatively affect you. it is important to not to gain a lot of weight during the approval process. good luck to you!
  14. ok so give me some tips... all the wrong things... all the right things... what kind of nausea med from cvs? my surgeon's nurse said they are not going to give use nothing for nausea but tell us to go take a walk. i wonder if they put those on everyone's legs. girl you're a mess...talm bout the man caught you. i can just imagine the look on your face. i have my surgery on 7/18/12 at 2:30. they told me don't eat after midnight...i told the nurse y'all won't have to do the surgery cuz i'mma dead from starvation! i don't know how i'm going to pull that off. swimming is a very good workout. i wish i knew how to swim...city girl! lol i fell out reading about your leather pants...girl stop! please don't be like him...he looked too hot and sweaty...lol yes it will be different but you will be so happy and excite you will comply and after a while it will be a piece of cake. i think the biggest part is getting pass the mental stage of it all...cuz we're guilty of eating when we're not hungry, bored, etc. also you're friends/family will be understanding and supportive. YOU'LL DO GREAT!!!!! CHANGE IS GOOD!!!! girl out of all my appointment she was the one i wanted to smack the most...why did i have to answer 564 true or false questions?!!! i was livid! i didn't have time for that! it took forever! she's the one that should have been answering the questions...not me. hey do you know you're total out of pocket? what are your starting stats if you don't mind me asking. you can always pm.
  15. So far as hair loss...i'm not big on hair, i can take it or leave it but promised my g-ma i would not cut my hair while she was still living. i am a member of a hair forum and i take good care of my hair. i am relaxed but i stretch them as much as possible cuz i have 4z hair. baaaaahahahahaha #TRUESTORY anyway i have come up with a complete list of supplements and a hair regime in hope to minimize the loss. although i can do without hair the fact remain IF i got to have long hair i definitely want it strong, shiny & healthy! #BOOM normally i co-wash my hair once a week...henna probably every 1 1/2 months...relax every 2 months...just got my last relaxer at the end of June...plan on not getting another until about 6 months out>>>maybe. Sweet Baby Jesus is sho gone have to help me! i got that disrespectful/talk back to ya hair! first let me explain the extra supplements because my nurse told me i will only need a Multivitamin for the rest of my life, however usually there a 3-6 month delay for your hair to react to your diet. so because immediately after surgery you lacking EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so immediately after surgery i want to try to give my body SOME of the things it will be lacking. i think supplements are taking too late. IMO here are my plans... Iron boitin (5,000) Vitamins (of course) silica fish oil Vitamin E Protein (of course...wish there was some injections i'd do that! ) 1 x week Aphogee 2 min. (soft protein) ORS replenishing pak (protein & moisture) 1 x week Joico KPak (hard protein - def needs to be followed by moisture!) ??? (extreme moisture) I haven't decided how i will wear my hair but as less manipulation as possible.
  16. no i don't have to pay before hand...no fight here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ girl, i can read your post all day for a good laugh! i don't have a liduid diet, they do recommend a 1400 calorie diet to help your liver shrink. i tell you what...they open me up for nothing its going to be some problems!!! but like you said i think they are trying to scare people more than likely. it's funny i didn't have to go to classes i had the normal appt with the NUT, Psych, Dietician, surgeon and then the last visit was last Wed with the surgeon's nurse. At most i have to pay $40 for my co-pay for the specialist visit but that's it. maybe its included with the surgeon's portion and they didn't break it out. during my visit with the surgeon's nurse she was explaing everything from the time we arrive at the hospital and she told a few people because they had gained weight there was a good chance their surgery would be canceled. i can see if they gain a tremedous amount of weight but i think that's partially a scare tactic as well. i've been working out like a dog, my eating habits are better but can be a lot better and i'm sure will have to be a lot better afterwards. that cheese cake man had me on the floor. now that was super funny!
  17. yea i've only paid $37 towards my deductible that's why it went from $1,500 to $14xx. lol lol i don't even know when i paid that or what i paid it for. she said my co-pays don't apply towards my deductible because I paid MANY $40 along this process! reading your post reminded me...last month i was stressing about being on while going through the surgery and shortly after. I think i'm safe I think i will just be going off. Lawd knows i feel like i'm dying while i'm on my cycle so if i had my cycle and the surgery...girl, i'd choke myself to death with my bare hands (impossible but i'd do it!) lol I can only imagine what you were going through...that's horrible. but its over and you're doing great! i don't have to pay for pre-surgical classes? what is that? also no money is wanted up front. I was calling them trying to get estimate they told me to calm down and wait on my EOB. lol i just wanted to pay for everything the day of surgery to get it out the way. and i've been going through a nesting stage so i've been spending like crazy...replacing furniture, painting, rearranging, etc. people are looking at me with the side eye. baaaaahahahaha praying for you a super speedy recovery! ((hugs))
  18. Wow!!! i know they charge for every little thing but the prices are outrageous! i can't remember now but i remember I found out how much a tylenol cost...i almost passed out! i was a little worried about my out of pocket, i have uhc (90/10%)...so i had in my mind....worst case scenario i would be looking at at paying $2,000 out of pocket. called my insurance co today and found out the max i will have to pay is a little over $1,400. my out of pocket max is $1,500. i was too happy! i personally get heated when talking about insurance companies because I think they are a bunch of rip off companies that the government should regulate more. *walking around my soapbox* baaaahahahaha You are #HILAR your posts have me cracking up! final exit = BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
  19. awww sorry to hear you had it rough there for a while but glad things are getting better for you. right now it may be rough but a few months from now it will all be a memory and you will be looking slim and trim! WATCH OUT NOW! my surgery is on the 18th so i am expecting the worst. hang in there they say it get better everyday. i'm thinking about you, praying for you! sending positive thoughts! confession...i was cracking up at your pouring the Isopure down the drain, writing on your sheet yourself. July Sleevers

Another July 18th-er!!!! Yay! Papers submitted on the 5/25, approved 5/29 (with a holiday in the waiting period) and surgery 7/18! So happy and scared at the same time. HA! I had the choice of 6/27 or 7/18...I work in finance and June and the beginning of July I am crazy busy so I went with the latter. I was bummed at first but while searching for the "silver lining" I figure it will give me more time for P-R-E-P-A-R-A-T-I-O-N! Congrats everyone! We're going to kick butt!
