I love your word "softer" much better then mine ( fat or overweight). I will always refer to myself now as a kinder "softer" person. Really that is a terrific way to reference ourselves when we weigh a bit more then Twiggy! Thank you for that!

I hear ya' Cowgirl... it's harder when it seems like everyone you know is married and all their friends are married... very different scene from 20's or early 30's when there are still a lot of single people around. And I think some of the guys in the 50's area want younger trophy types anyway.
I think it's funny how many guys on the online sites post pictures of their cars or fish they caught or motorcycles... things that other guys would be interested in. Just who are they trying to attract anyway??? lol

I started my new job and they don't suspect me at all. They think I'm just a regular old sized person. I've infiltrated the normal sized people club!
I also cut my hair off!

atelux17 reacted to fred2014 in The truth about me good and bad
Well I have decided to write about my post op journey. I had the sleeve back in July 2013 and its now May 2014, and I have regained 20lbs. The constant stress at home, work, and the fact I can’t afford to get a gym membership is really hurting my bulge. The pre op journey I was so motivated that I used to post on the forum under a different name but later, I had to let it go because I left Facebook alone and, I couldn’t find out how to make a stand alone account.
I really don’t have any point to make I just want to remind those that are having the surgery that you must be prepared for the woes that life throws at you. I had the Gastric sleeve surgery done so I would be healthier not skinny but that wouldn’t hurt (lol). I know there are things I can do to jump start my weight loss and I have started by dropping a bad habit I have. I think since I’m ready to lose the bad habit the pounds should start falling off again.
So please do remember that even when you can do not eat and drink at the same time, trust me you will just eat more than you know. Don’t get caught up with depression and let that be a reason you make yourself feel like a failure. My problems are not yours and I’m sure you probably share a similar fate if you have found yourself on the fantastic voyage of weight loss.
I’m giving myself 6 months to make my goal weight and after that I will just not let the scales or the body image bother me so much. Thank you for reading and thoughts or comments please do post .

Great idea! Dresses were my savior during my wt loss period. You can wear them everyday, even if u lose 20lbs & with tights& boots winter to summer transition is do-able. Unlike my damn pants that kept falling down& revealing my plumber butt on the daily. Hrrmph. Wraps, color blocking, slim inset dresses all help.
I must really respect the ppl on this forum to allow all my embarrassing selfies on here. I'm indecisive in dressing rooms. I'm 5'4 & 165lbs to 135 in these pics.

Do
1. Follow all post op directions to a T. Measure. Sip. Track all intake. (& output to some extent.) Take your ppi, Multivitamin. Hydrate. Don't let a leak be partly your fault from inappropriate food intake. You can eat anything again eventually.
2. Eat Protein 1st(when u do start eating solids again) which u will!
3. Ask others to be your support circle. Teach them how to be supportive, don't bring up trigger foods, be a walking buddy, ask me why I'm doing certain things, instead of complaining that I'm living off of powders& shakes, etc.
4. Head hunger was crazy the first couple of weeks because you may feel deprived. food is not your life.

atelux17 reacted to Bridget312001 in Reached My Goal Weight Today!
It's been a long year with many ups and downs but I am proud to say today I finally reached my goal weight this morning. I had Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) April 8, 2013 and over the last year I have worked hard to loose 89lbs. I started at 214lbs and am now 125lbs. VSG is not for everyone, but it worked well for me. My only advice to anyone thinking about the sleeve is to really REALLY do you homework and think about the lifelong changes YOU must make to use your sleeve to its best advantage.
