Seriously struggling with getting my protein
One thing im trying to do is i take two packs of the carnation no sugar added good start (i think thats it) - it has 5g protein each pack - and mix with 16oz of Almond milk plus from Wal-Mart - each 8oz also has 5g protein added. For some reason im having no issues taking normal sized drinks and im just a week post op. i also add one tbsp splenda - tastes like im drinking a nestle Quick

First time on the scales
I started the preop diet at 303 (cant call it a liquid diet because i didnt stick to the liquid diet - did more of a restricted calorie diet). I did it for a week and lost 6lbs before surgery. I went into surgery one week ago at 297 and weighed for the first time yesterday EVENING at 285. Thats 18lbs in about two weeks - 12 of it in 6 days. I was quite shocked! But stoked none the less!

Does the drain hurt
Mine was placed during surgery monday am and it was pulled before going home Wednesday around noon. While it was in it was just uncomfortable like - i felt it something there - and it contributed to the god awful hiccups since it was close to/on my diaphragm. I must say her pulling it (about 8") had to be one of the worst things ive ever felt - yes worse than the catheter coming out.

My husband is an ass

Good luck!- New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
I just posted facts on my recovery lol. If things hurt i said they hurt but i was never once nauseated - the closest thing was the painful burps and hiccups while i was in the hospital but the hiccups were caused by the drain and burps were just part of the gas working its way out. Otherwise its been great since ive been home. Now granted i probably looked like a sad homeless person in best buy yesterday with blue flannel pajama pants, bright mismatched "Dr. Seuss" looking socks covered up by blue crocs and a big burgundy tshirt on lol.- My husband is an ass
Im four days post-op and im staying with my girlfriend for the first few days - yeah everytime someones in the kitchen cooking or snacking it sucks but theres no way in hell id expect her or anyone else to change their life based on a decision "I" made for "me." Thats just selfish. If it were reversed would you be ok if he expected you to hide and feel guilty for eating something that tastes great because "he" made a decision to change "his" life? Yeah it sucks but its nobodys faults but our own for making this decision to change our lives for the better. I love how many posts i see where its always hubby/bf thats an ass for living his life like he always has before the decision his wife/gf made... Yet i dont recall seeing any men calling their wives/gfs "b"s for eating the way they always have. We cant expect others to change bc we did. Sorry for the rant its just relevant at the moment lol. Im not calling mine names for eating cheetos or a banana or pizza just bc shes hungry and im not allowed. *shrugs*- Sleeved 12/31 - Story so far..

Im sure some of you saw my freaking out posts a day or so before surgery... But i didnt talk myself out of it. I went in to outpatient at 6:00am on Monday morning... Registered and was promptly taken back. Did all of the normal stuff, IV, etc. Talked myself out of running about five times too lol. Next thing I knew we were rolling back, i batted my eyes, then i was in my room in med surg hurting like hell. Everybody and their mom wanted to come into the room and mess with me all day and night so zero sleep plus the morphine pump had little to no effect. Morning 2 - labs drawn, ultrasound of legs done, then taken to have the swallow study done. When i got back to the room they pulled my foley shortly after - this was the second worst pain ive felt next to having the drain removed. For some reason i noticed dried blood around that area too :-/ not sure if thats normal or not plus i had slightly bloody urine in the foley at first too. Morning 3 (Day 2 Post-op) - morning labs - actually got a little sleep the night before. Around noon my surgeon came in to pull my drain - worst pain ever - and to discharge me. The drain went about 6-8" into my right side to rest by my diaphragm. Now todays my first full day home - i managed to drink two protein shakes (50g protein) but didnt get my full liquid intake. Still wondering if it was the right decision or not but each days getting easier.- Surgery yesterday (12/31)
So i had surgery yesterday and i still feel like i got hit by a bus :-/- Did anyone else fail the 2 week pre-op diet...
In less than 12 hours surgery will be under way... Freakin out :-/- Did anyone else fail the 2 week pre-op diet...
