Bariatric journey Multiple procedures Since 2019 Preparing for surgery

  1. The first few days are the hardest. I stayed 1 night in the hospital. The gas pain made things uncomfortable. i didn't really feel myself until day 4-5. Get all your supplies ahead of time so you don't have to worry about it after surgery. My highest weight was bmi 36 and now I'm bmi 27 (less than 10 months later). Lower bmi will be slower weight loss for you. Just take it slow and remember this is a tool. It was definitely a learning process for me in the last 10 months. Good luck.
  2. My next goal is to be in the 'normal' bmi range. 15lbs to go! After that, we'll see!
  3. I used Dr Garber in NY for my banded plication in May. Overall great experience.
  4. Everyone is different. I go see my doc each month, but I've only had 4 fills. I'm actually thinking of getting a small unfill next visit. It's a learning process.
  5. I had surgery on a Tuesday and I was back at work the following Monday. The worst was the gas on the 1st and 2nd nights. 2 weeks after surgery I felt pretty normal. Now, 9 months later, I've lost 55lbs and ran my first half marathon in January. I'm signed up to do another in April. I just started buying some new clothes that fit me instead of oversize sweaters! So, overall it's all worth it for me!
  6. Agree w/ Carolina. I had band and plication in May. So far, so good!
  7. I have no issues. I waited 6 weeks after surgery to do any abs
  8. I hit a plateau after 4 months. Just keep at it and you'll be losing weight AND inches.
  9. I was told not to drink it. I miss my diet coke, but haven't had one since May
  10. my doc decides the fill amout with me after we discuss what i've been feeling. sometimes it's .5 or .25...or it could be none. It all depends. everyone is different.

  15. Hi guys. I'm down 50lbs with 20-30 more to go. I thought I'd post some progress pics. Recently I finally had a few people at work notice my loss, which felt great. I usually wear flowy, oversized clothes and 1 coworker told me to start wearing clothes that fit. Lol.
  16. 6 weeks out I was down 15 or so lbs
  17. dont stress. i lost 10lbs and then hit a plateau for a month right after i was banded. just let it happen and make sure you're getting enough Protein. dont stress over the scale
  18. being able to eat more is totally normal. you dont have any fluid in your band yet. call your doc if youre nervous, but you should be OK. good luck!
