I got my lap band in 2006 and had great success losing over 100 lbs. I stayed around 140 lbs. for many years until I began having problems aspirating at night in 2016. I had my fill removed and I believe that caused the band to slip because I started having even more problems such as gastroparesis. I decided to have the band removed in 2017 - I had already gained about 30 lbs. when I quit smoking earlier that year and believed my weight had stabilized. Long story short, over the next 2 years I gained another 50 lbs for a total of 70 lbs. (BMI 32)

I had lap band to sleeve revision surgery in Nov 2019 and self-paid by going to Tijuana for surgery.

How’ve you been feeling? I’m 6 weeks post op revision as well.

Is there a reason you're not losing? are you have trouble? are is it just to lose more?

I would start by looking at why it's not working. Is it your food choices? Overeating? Not exercising? The reason i'm saying this is because if its those things, a new WLS won't fix it for the long term. You have to start within.

I would suggest, if you haven't already, get the myfitnesspal app. it showed me how much i was really eating vs what i thought i was eating. I had the band for 7+ years and maintained 89lbs.... but when the band was removed due to a slip.... i gained 30lbs. Sure it took 2.5 years... but i couldn't lose it. I thought i was doing everything right.....Then when i started the process of revising to the sleeve, i started logging everything.... I found i was making bad choices, overeating and not exercising as much as i thought i was. That was in July, i got sleeved Aug 28th...... and things are back on track.... but i'm still logging in my food and exercise. Keeps me accountable.

Band 2009 SW: 232, LW: 130, weight at removal 143...

Sleeve 2019 SW: 173.5 , Today 144.4..... Goal is to get back to 143 (1 more lb to go) or 140 if poss.

Your stats seem similar to mine. My band is out, gained, and now revising to sleeve in 2 weeks. How’ve you been feeling since the sleeve?

  3. I moved from New York to Los Angeles and looking for a new bariatric surgeon in Los Angeles area. Anyone have a strong recommendation? I had lap band in New York (2012) and recently had to have it removed, but I am looking to revise to sleeve once my stomach heals. Love my NY doc, but I want to meet with some local surgeons in LA instead of flying back to New York. Thanks all for the input!

I'm kinda freaking out because they told me I would be sharing a room in the hospital. I am deathly afraid of vomit, like it's my BIGGEST phobia!! I'm scared I'll get put in a room with another bariatric patient who may be puking in the bed next to me. If you had to share a room how was it? Was your room mate also in for gastric surgery?

I shared a room but the curtain was closed between us. I kept my headphones in most of the time to listen to music or watch videos. I think you’ll be ok!

Hey everyone. I am still pretty new to this. I am just a plethora of questions now a days haha. I am exactly 3 weeks and 2 days post op via gastric bypass. From my heaviest of 304 I am now down to 268 pounds. Yes it is nice but I still feel like I see no difference ☹. Others tell me they see a huge difference. I know when it comes to ourselves it is hard to see a difference and we are always our own worst enemy. I know a handful of people who have had this surgery and they tell me 6 months out I will see a gigantic difference. How was it for all of you guys? 🤗🤗🤗

I saw small differences after each 10lb mark. Take pics to see your own progress. It helped me!
