Hi I was banded May 16th, I have lost a total of 25lbs a couple sizes and about 4-5 inches. Please dont let loosing weight consume your brain like it did mine. My NP told tme to slow down because my skin may sag if I loose too fast. Believe it or not I don't see no difference. I figure 4 scales cant be lying lol. I also noticed that the more I paid attention to the scale the longer it stayed at the same weight AND I really didnt start loosing anything until I went to solids. I walk walk and walk somemore. I find reasons to take an extra few steps. I also drink 3-4 liters of water w/in a 24 hr period. Hope it helps some.

I would ask your surgeon how much is in your band next time you're there and keep track, it's always good to know.
I personally would not rely on Protein Bars for hunger between meals. They are typically very high calorie and some have considerable sugar, too.
Restriction in the band usually takes at least a couple fills, until then, you have to struggle through on your own willpower. Stick to the rules your surgeon gave you in the meantime, make sure your meals are not more than a cup of food per meal, and get all your Protein in. If you have to eat between meals, try to choose something that isn't going hurt your weight loss efforts, like Greek yogurt or low fat cottage cheese. Even a 60 calorie sugar free pudding would be better than a 180 calorie Protein Bar as a snack.
    Good luck.

We are struggle on some level. I remember that two weeks after my surgery my husband made fajitas for the family which I could not eat because I was just getting into mushies at that point. The house smelled sooooo good and I was so upset that they were getting to eat it and I wasnt. I was made at him for preparing something that he knew I loved. I knew that it is a few months I could eat some fajitas if I wanted them but it didnt matter. I went into the bathroom at 4 in the afternoon and loaded the tub up with bubbles and cried. Mind you the Water was not even enough to cover anything as I wasnt allowed to get my belly wet. I sat there in the water that wasnt enough to clean and infant but I cried and cried. I had to let it out and when I was done I put lotion on my legs and arms and felt a lot better. My husband cleaned up everything and had made me some refried Beans with a little of the fajitas sauce. My point is that most of us have had these moments. The moment that I described was my first but not my last for sure. Right now you have no restriction and have to white knuckle it and it sucks because you are hungry but you will get adjustments and the feeling will pass.
You have come so far and now you have to have a little willpower to make it through the next few weeks. You are on a journey and some days will be harder than others but you can do it. The power is inside you. Show yourself and your family who you really are.

I'm 2 wks post op, my family is not supportive, they buy snickers (my favorite), sonic and burger king and they offer it to me and eat it in my face. I feel like an absolute failure! I am with true results but my surgeon is separate. They both have different diets, different view points...they haven't agreed on anything. I was told by my surgeon the hard scar tissue that's at my port site may prevent me from getting fills. By day 6 I was starving! I have had 2 snickers within the last 3 days and although it took 5 hrs to eat I had a sonic sandwich. Lord knows how bad I want this, I just wish I had some support and WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER EATEN THAT ISH! I wait in my surgeons office for a minimum of 2 hrs just for him to spend 3-5 min with me. SOO DEPRESSED! Pray to God I haven't messed my band up.

My gas is soo bad my children 13 & 18 get excited for me which ever way it comes. My stomach is big!! I can feel it and hear it! I'm calling my DR. tomorrow because its the gas pains that's preventing me from doing anything. It hurts if I take a deep breath and stand up straight. Other than the gas I am doing well. I take gas x, maalox, peppermint tea and walking. I am ready to go back to work but scared. O! I was banded on the 16th.

I get banded on the 16th. My official liquid diet started today (well yesterday) the 6th. However; I started early to get a feel of what I would go through. I must be extremely honest, this is very hard and every day so far I keep telling myself that I made a mistake choosing the lap band. It is very helpful if you have people around you who supports you. I work 7p-7a and my co-workers are very supportive but since the census is low I find I want to snack. I still cant believe its all liquids. Im convinced my surgeon made a mistake. lol

Happiness is a choice.....push all those negatives out of your head and focus on all the reasons why you're on this journey! I've found that I've, (with God's help!) have broken the addiction of sugar and carbs. I don't crave them like I use to. After a few more days you should start seeing that too. You can do this! Pray, pray, pray....God takes away that temptation when we ask him to. Bless you and your journey Heather! Deb

My doc gave me a card that states "this patient has a Lap Band implanted..." and he told me to keep it paperclipped to my insurance card in case I was not able to speak for myself. But in my mind I am thinking, who in the he@@ could even find anything in my purse?
    Peace Out :hippie:

I don't have a tag, I guess my theory is if I ever needed a NG tube, I'd be in a life threatning situation and the band would be the least of my worries. Any input from our doctors on site?
