  1. I'm 9 months out & down 93 lbs! Only 2 regrets... 1) I didn't do it sooner & 2) I didn't take my before measurements! I have pictures on here of my transformation. Feel free to check them out! I had my surgery @ Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, MI and Dr. Kharbutli was my surgeon.
  2. I was taking Biotin & my NUT told me it wasn't necessary. I stopped taking it & noticed more hair loss, Sooooo I'm taking it again, as I feel it helped slow the loss before. It takes a while to get in your system, but I know it works for me! Hope your hair loss slows down. & I hear it's less noticeable with short hair, but I have always had my hair short. Easier to take care of. Good luck.
  3. Stool softeners were ok with my dr. They were small enough to swallow.
  4. I spiced my chicken broth up with garlic powder & Mrs. Dash...
  5. Drink, drink , drink... That's what I did. And you are getting protein @ the same time. I drank chicken broth @ 6 days out whenever I got hungry like that.
  6. Try adding a tiny bit of sugar free pudding mix(any flavor you like) to your protein shake. Make sure you put it in a blender (not a shaker) with ice. Makes a huge difference. I can use water or fat free milk for mine. I use Body Fortress protein powder. I have chocolate, vanilla & strawberry flavors.. Good luck...
  7. I use ice cubes, protein powder, fat- free milk and some instant Hills Bros.Skinny Latte fat free Caramel drink mix. Even my husband likes it! ( You can use chocolate or vanilla protein & I also mix 1/2 chocolate protein & 1/2 vanilla when I make the shakes.) It will give a slightly different taste when you want to change things up! DELICIOUS. But it has to be in a blender or it won't mix up good!
  8. I'm Doreykn if you want to add me...
  9. Are you using a blender or shaker. I use my trusty blender with ice & fat free milk with my protein powder & you could add sugar free pudding mix (just a little) to give it better flavor. I also make shakes with Hills Bros. skinny latte powder coffee mix & protein powder. I used Body Fortress protein powder from Walmart. I have 3 flavors... Good luck!
  10. Bariatric Advantage Chocolate/ Raspberry Iron chewy bites! Tastes like a tootsie roll. And my multi vitamin isn't bad either, Centrum Silver Chewable Citrus Berry flavored!
  11. I was told NO STRAWS... Everyone is different though. I still don't use straws & I'm 7 & 1/2 months out. Warm drinks always went down better for me. Good luck.
  12. I get the hiccups if I eat something I'm not suppose to, like a bite of bread....
  13. My friends & family said similar things to me, but I didn't take it as insults. They were very supportive of my decision to have the sleeve. They also all knew my health problems. Which was the main reason for having it done. The one remark that gets me is when some one compares sizes (like, he/she is 2 times your size) I know I was big! And I pray that the people that do that, realize some day, how that must feel to a Bigger person! Now, as I'm going through this journey I let everyone now what a great tool this is for me. I researched this for a year before I decided to do it! Best thing I ever did for ME!!! Now I say, "Yup, I was that big!"
  14. That happened to my mother... She never had WLS,And was is "normal weight" hers ended up being a bowel obstruction! Get to the ER fast if it continues!
  15. Blend ice, Fat free milk & Body Fortress protein powder ( any flavor) Makes a great shake if put in the blender (like a frosty), you can also add a little bit of sugar free pudding mix for even better flavor! I have been adding some Hills Bros, skinny latte powder mix too.
  16. We make chicken tacos or ground turkey tacos... Delicious! Fat free refried beans & fat free or lowfat cheese is good too!
  17. I love those too & the store I was buying them @ also discontinued them. Cran- Pomegranate & Cran- Peach are my favorites.
  18. I'm just over 7 months out & if I even have the feeling of gas or a bowel movement coming, I get to the nearest bathroom...because I'm not taking a chance of sharting! I'd rather run to the bathroom than crap myself & sometimes you can't tell what is going to happen... Better safe than sorry! In the beginning, I would run at the slightest rumble! LOL!!! I have become lactose intolerant since surgery so I started buying fat free, lactose free milk.
  19. I agree with Gene1970... Lose the mashed potatoes. They are just empty carbs & carbs turn into sugar.. no protein. And like everyone has said, drink & walk, drink & walk...Get as much protein in that you can...
  20. Good luck...and the journey beginnings! Keep us posted!!!
  21. Try not to be so down on yourself(I know, easier said than done)... we all have slows. It will come off,if you follow drs orders. Not everyone loses at the same rate. If you can't exercise yet, WALK... Walking is what helped me the most and still does! It will get better. Try tracking all your meals on myfitnesspal.com That's what Iuse.It helps me keep on track... Good luck
  22. Praying you feel better soon...
  23. Try resale shops or Salvation Army in your area. That's what I did. I now buy cheap stuff from Walmart until I get to my goal weight!
