  1. Okay when you add the Isopure rtd to the boiling water' date=' doesn't that go beyond the 140 degrees they say the cut off is? I think it's a great idea just want to make sure it's going to mix okay.[/quote']

I only use 1/2 cup of boiling Water to dissolve the Jello. When it's completely dissolved, I add 1/2 cup of cold Water. Then I add a cup off cold isopure. I've never had any problems with it. It's always clear.

  3. How are u getting in that much Water and Protein?. Ive been sleeved since 7/29 and still dont get in that much Water or protein

I start at 6:30 in the morning with 1/2 liter of water and usually finish by 8. I have something for Breakfast at 8:30 and then wait 30 minutes and start drinking again. It's like a full time job! I try to get in a 1/2 liter before each meal and before bed. It's not easy but the idea of dehydrating freaks me out.

  4. It varies with me. I wear a CPAP at night with a pretty high setting. If my 3 year old son sleeps in bed with us' date=' then look out. I have to sleep on my side when he's in there. This means too much pressure and lots of swallowed air. No lying, I can bust a 30 second fart in the morning no problem (and probably several more during the night).[/quote']

I have had the same issue with too much pressure from my Capp. I'm just a little over 2 weeks out and woke up so full of air that I was in pain. I had to get up and walk around until I could pass it all. I was in a bit of a panic wondering if all this air being forced into me could cause a leak. I think I'll be stressing over it for the rest of the day.

  5. I was sleeved 8/29. I can only get 50g (1.7 oz)of anything down. I'm not worrying too much about it right now. I'm trying to focus more on getting my fluids in. I'm finally getting 2 liters in each day. Protein varies. Some days I get 62g and other days 15. It's a work in progress for sure.

  6. I forgot I can't "gulp" Water and on Sunday while running errands I had forgot my handy candy cup that doesn't allow gulping so I got a bottle of water at the gas station and took two giant drinks and the pain didn't hit until the second was on its way down. Needless to say I switched back to my cup after that.

I did the same thing last night. I was distracted while taking my reflux meds and took a big gulp of water. It hurt as it went down but only for a few seconds. Then there was a lump, like a marble, in my throat. It's just below my breast bone and I feel it mostly when swallowing. It doesn't hurt and I have no trouble swallowing liquids. It is very uncomfortable. I've tried gas-x, warm broth and walking. Nothing is helping. It's been 14 hours now. I'm getting a bit worried. I hope I didn't mess something up. I wonder if I should go to the ER or maybe call my Dr. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

  7. Everyone is different. I have been able to take 8oz of Water or more in a sitting (over 5-10min) since 7 days post op. shakes are slower' date=' 11oz in an hour. I can't gulp (made the mistake once, it won't happen again) I tolerate all Water temps. My surgeon and nutritionist and nurse seemed more pleased with my water intake than anything. Day 10 post op I took in 108oz of water and realized I was using water as food. I've stuck with 65oz since and between 30 min before, 60 after, 5 mini meals a day, 65 is pushing it.[/quote']

Can I ask what exactly happened when you gulped? I inadvertently gulped a big drink of water 2 hours ago. It was painful for a second but there's been a lump in my chest every since. Getting worried.

  8. I personally wouldn't worry about Protein for that 13 hour trip' date=' have a plan before it happens, you'll be fine! Where in TX? My brother was stationed in Germany for a few years too. I hate it that I never went to visit! Oh well.....anyway, you can always count on chicken noodle Soup being low in calories, has a little Protein. Drink some skim milk if you can find it, 1 cup will be 8 or 9 grams of protein. If you're at an airport and there is a Wendy's - their chili, high in protein and calories aren't bad, especially since you won't be able to eat all of it. I'm over three years out and a small chili is one meal and a snack!!! Turkey Jerky is a good snack, or so they say, I try and avoid nitrites and nitrates due to Migraines. You can always get a sandwich and eat the meat, I'd personally avoid the full fat cheese that might be on it. Some protein but NOT worth the calories in my book!! Good luck and 'welcome home'.[/quote']

Thanks for the info. I'm from Mineral Wells. It's a small town about 45 miles east of Ft. Worth. I've lived in Germany for 2 years now. That's 2 years without visiting my people. I'm really excited to see my first grandchild. She will already be 10 months old by the time I get to hold her. I'm really excited! I was nervous about having the surgery so close to our flight date. But I feel good, no complications and slowly relearning how to nourish my body in a healthier way.

  9. I'm about a month out' date=' I understand the dizzy and not only do I hate the flavor of chocolate since surgery I can't drink the Protein drinks due to a new allergy to them, I broke out in tiny blister like rash from head to toe two days ago was going to wait to see my PCP on Monday but the itching was so bad I had to go to the urgent care. Was told not to drink them till I get in to see my PCP for allergy testing to see what ingredient I'm allergic to.

But I don't regret it.. I've just been trying to get my Protein by eating different things that are mushy do I get it all in? No. But for now all I can do is try. I have an appt with my NUT on Tuesday where we can discuss where to go from here.

Everything in life has its ups and downs... I found my down but there is only one way to go from here...

Keep your chin up. Things will get better![/quote']

Were you allergic to the Protein shakes before your op?
