Singlemama got a reaction from Lissa in Breastfeeding And The Sleeve
Well I discussed the breastfeeding with Dr. Kim today and he didn't seemed phased by it. He just said I'd need to stay on prenatals, and absolutely make myself drink all the Water, because the water is key. And then his team would help me make the best choices on foods and meals to keep both baby and me safe and healthy. :] Glad to have a doctor who supports my decision!

I'm sure there will be set backs but after writing this thread, I searched for posts on similar situations and did find people who had succeeded at continuing to breastfeed. I know he's old enough to wean, but long ago I decided I wanted him to wean himself when he was ready. So I suppose I'll work very hard, pump a lot, try to get every bit of the liquids in and consume as much Protein as I'm able. I will ultimately hope for the best and see what the outcome is. ) as far as the medicines in my system, I'm not too worried, and wasn't when I wrote the post. It was more about if anyone had been in this situation and was successful even with the decrease in caloric intake.

I know some people have wondered, and I know I was wondering pre-surgery, so I'll put my input and experience out there. I am now 2 1/2 months post-op, 50 pounds lost, and successfully breastfeeding without issue. I don't know if I'm lucky, or if the womans body really is such a wonderful thing, but we've not had any set backs and it's been smooth sailing. That is all :]]
**I know this post only applies to a small number of ladies, but I was looking for a post like this pre-surgery!

Yeah..I'm on 4 Bariessential shakes a day, once a day I can have 8 oz of chicken broth, and I can have sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles. I get very jealous reading about you guys who are able to have veggies at the very least. I don't really understand why he's so strict on these two shakes only and nothing else. Thanks for the advice though! I'll try and add some flavor!

Well, I just got my staples out and I'm down 25 pounds since pre-op diet..so 3 weeks ago! I'm stoked. I got all my lab work back and not a single note was off. The dr. was thrilled to tell me that every level, every test, everything was perfect. I'm just plan old overweight! NOT FOR LONG THOUGH! Anyways, I'm now into full liquids. Any good Soups anyone can reccomend, or shakes that taste good and go down easy? Thanks so much!

I'm 5 days out, on a clear liquid diet. And starting this morning, any time I drink something that isn't plain Water, I end up running to the bathroom and being in there for awhile emptying out. Sorry if TMI. I just hurt so bad. I had some broth at lunch, almost instantaneously it seemed to go through me. Whats the deal?

My surgery was scheduled for 7:30 this morning. It's 8 and I'm still in the lobby. Not even to pre-op. I'm running out of patience and I'm so tired. Blah. Okay end of rant //

I don't think I have to wean him. I just think he has began the process himself, so I'm not to worried anymore. I'll pump at the hospital and nurse him as soon as I'm home and we'll see how it goes.

Hey ladies! Well I get sleeved tomorrow, and I'll let you know how it goes! My son just turned 1 on the 14th, so he's slowly nursing less and less. But I wanted him to wean himself, and me not cut it abruptly. He's down to 4-5 nursing sessions a day, and they are MAYBE 7 minutes long. So I'm thinking he's getting close to weaning anyways. But I will definitely let you know how the next few weeks go!
