Don't feel ashamed. What's done is done. If you are like me, you wasted too many years feeling ashamed of your body. Those days are over. We are moving in the right direction. That being said, PLEASE be careful and follow your post-op diet. It is so important in these first few weeks to ensure proper healing. Remind yourself why you had your surgery, and keep focusing on the new goals you have set for yourself. You can do this!

I know you say that he was supportive of your surgery, but was he really? Just because he said that doesn't make it true. You are transforming yourself, not everyone will be as happy for you as you might hope. But, you made the step towards life. You will have a long, healthy life to watch your son grow up. So, get it together girl! First thing! You must physically heal. Rest yes, but get out of that bed and walk, play with your son, hell, try on some new clothes! Tell yourself how beautiful and amazing you are. The first man in your life, is that little boy. Watch him while he's watching you. What do you see? Pure adoration, I'm sure. Breathe, meditate, nourish yourself and accept love from yourself. In a couple of weeks, get some help and find yourself somewhere more affordable to live. Get rid of anything that's not benefiting you anymore. Like my grandma used to say, when things get rough, put your lipstick on and keep going. Best wishes.

My heart is with you, but not getting out of bed, is not good for you or your son. Not sure of your son's age, but no matter what he needs you. You need to take care of yourself because the real family you have is your son...not him. Getting healthy to take care of your son should be your only priority.
This guy can't be the "love" or the love of your life because he left. The love of your life would never abandon you. He doesn't answer calls, texts or on Facebook, it's time to let him go, but I would make sure he paid his balance of any bills due to you for your son.
Stop calling, stop texting, stop trying to reach him on Facebook, get a bill to him or get an attorney so he can recoup anything he owes.
Find close friends or relatives or a church to help you emotionally right now, but no matter what you are going through right now with this guy, don't let this physically do you harm, that's not fair to your child, that is your family and your #1 responsibility.
Take care of yourself and the rest will sort itself out. He's obviously not good enough for you or you wouldn't have been arguing a lot before surgeyr.
Good Luck and my prayers are with you.

I think most of us go through the stage of "mourning" over food. For some of us it feels as if we have lost our best friend, but this feeling is temporary. We are finding our new rhythms and learning new ways to comfort ourselves without the use of food. I've been very fortunate in my recovery (I'm 3 months out). I have never experienced vomiting, or haven't eaten anything that I haven't been able to tolerate. At about 6 weeks out I was able to eat just about anything, including lettuce. I also think I have a larger sleeve than most because it just seems like I can eat more than a just few bites. The bottom-line for me is I still enjoy food, I still love to cook, and I enjoy eating albeit I am very satisfied with portions that are a fraction of what I used to eat. Now, I am more of a food snob. I crave fresh fruits and veggies and good quality meat and cheeses rather than processed and sugar-laden stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not without slip-ups. As a matter of fact just last night my fiance and I went out for frozen custard and I got no sugar added vanilla with caramel and brownie bits in it, but I'm a believer that we must not completely deny ourselves because we will have these sleeves the rest of our lives, and we have to live our "normal."

I went to the mall today to return an item, and while I was there I thought I would browse the ladies section and see if anything was on sale. I found a cute shirt, but it was an XL in the regular ladies section. I've been in the women's 16-28 section for quite a few years. Just for sh*ts and giggles, I tried it on and low and behold that sucker fit!! It wasn't until I was on my way home that I realized today is the 26th and I'm exactly three months out. So when I got home I decided to weigh myself to see where I am and I'm down exactly 40 lbs! My eyes nearly popped out of my head, because I am just getting out of a 6 week stall. For six weeks I bounced around the same darn pound. It was so very frustrating. My logical self knew it would eventually end, but when you are in the moment and that moment last 6 weeks all kinds of crazy thoughts run through your head.
Just wanted to share, especially for those who are in the midst of a stall so you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I tell anyone and everyone. IMO, there's no way to remove the stigma associated with WLS unless we the patients are willing to share our positive journey with others. You never know whose life you may save with your testimony.

I am one-week post op. You must follow the post-op diet to be successful and not damage the surgery site as it takes time to heal. I won't say that I don't crave foods that I can't have, but I am not having hunger pains at all. In fact, I can't really believe how wonderful and filling that chicken broth and sugar-free Jello can be.
There are things that my family is eating that really look delicious to me right now, but I am not about to screw this up.... it wouldn't just be cheating but would be medically damaging at this point.
One day, I will be able to eat reasonable portions of the foods that I love.
As I have seen said many times before, "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." There is no way that I would call this an easy process. Those that say that you are "cheating" by having this surgery must think that it's not difficult. ANYONE would lose weight following this structured diet. It is the reduced calorie amount that is causing the weight loss--- not that your smaller stomach makes you magically lose weight.
The surgery changes your hunger which will give help with your willpower to accomplish what you couldn't on dieting alone.
Don't give up! I almost backed out of the surgery myself because I kept thinking "i should be able to do this on my own", but I've never been able to. Now that I have had the surgery, I have the strength and willpower to stick with the plan.
    Good luck!

I do ~ because the first ingredient on my RTD Premier shakes is Water. For the shakes that I make on my own, I use 8 ounces of Almond milk and I count that in my total as well. The rest of what I get in is good ole' H2O, crystal light, and G2.

Congrats! That's awesome! I'm glad to hear the strength will return. That was one of my concerns, too. Prior to surgery (about 6 months before) I started working out pretty hard with weights and with a trainer. I wanted to get my body strong for the surgery. I was digging being able to lift and build muscle. One day some skinny chick at the gym saw me doing barbell skull crushers, and said, "whoah, you are my hero." My head swelled a bit. LOL. At any rate, I'm itching to get back to the gym and start lifting again. I'm only three weeks out so I have about 3 more weeks before my doctor will allow it.

Listen to your heart ~ if you are not mentally ready, you should not undergo surgery. When folks decide to undergo VSG they are making a lifetime committment to follow the "rules" - small portions, Protein first always, lots of liquids, etc. If you want to try to do it on your own, you should give it a try. I will tell you that for me it was the only way to go after years of losing, gaining, losing, gaining more I was ready to get off of the roller coaster. I am two weeks out and I have lost 21 lbs. The last time I lost 21 lbs. I was training for a half-marathon AND eating right AND it took me 15 weeks. Also, just to normalize for you I think a lot of us go through what you are going through - the mental anguish of deciding to actually go through with it. Even in the pre-op room with my IVs in I was ready to say get me outta here. They took a last minute pregnancy test in Pre-op and I was secretly hoping I would be pregnant so I wouldn't have to go through with it. LOL. Trust me, the anxiety you are feeling is very normal. Best of luck to you with whatever decision you make.

I had surgery on March 26. Everything has been going very well and I am down 21 lbs! The day I got home from the hospital I threw my scale out because I didn't want to become obsessed with it, so this was the first time I weighed myself since surgery. Woo hoo! After I got home I started trying on the 10 pairs of pants that are hanging in my closet that I have not worn in sooooo long. Happy to say a couple of them fit! Today I am wearing a pair of capris that I haven't worn for a couple of years, and am ok with showing some leg now!
