  1. There are things that were not shared with me that I am unhappy about now...but when you're on this side of the fence, there is no going back. I was just reading another sleever's post and realize that I now have Diverticulitis. I had the symptoms she was experiencing. Constipation, abdominal pain and diarreah...I have called and scheduled an appointment with my doctor today, but...it can be caused by a low fiber diet. There is no correcting the pockets in the intestine after they are formed...so says all the information on the internet. Post surgery, I know my diet is totally low in fiber...so, lucky me! Also, I know everyone is different, but I have had a tremendous amount of hair loss, and despite what my doctor said, it isn't growing back. It is embarassing. I have a wig now and two clip ons for my hair...or I will pull what little hair there is back in a rubberband and clip a flower in my hair to hide the lack thereof. I am faithful to my vitamins...I take my calcium and my mutli-vitamin. I also take Vitamin D, and Vitamin B and an Iron pill because I am enimic now. Is it worth it?? I got the sleeve because I was pre-diabetic. My doctor told me I was 3 points away from him telling me I was diabetic and I was starting to limp because of the extra weight. So...my knees are much better. My sugar still runs a little high, but I haven't checked it in a long time....the doctor said I could quit monitoring it because it was within normal range for a long time. BUT...it is like I traded knee pain for diverticulitis and diabetes for hair loss...so, to use Vegas terminology, it's a push.
  2. Does anyone know how long after surgery we need to continue to sleep on our backs? I am a lifetime side sleeper and will rejoice when I am able to sleep on my side again! Not yet two weeks out...

    what is going ON!!!

I would like to hear how you do! Please keep us all posted. I was advised to work on getting 90 min g. of protine and 100 min. oz of Water before switching to "solids". I am 6 days out.
  4. I was on my period during the procedure. I should be well clear of it as I am 6 days post surgery...but I am still spotting!

    Being "regular" Again?

My dr. Office suggested liquid colace. A stool softener, not a laxative...also, chia seeds. I tried the colace once. Disgusting! I am day 6 after surgery...and finallly had some action this morning. It was like passing pebbles. Unpleasantant!
  6. I was sleeved on 4/2, a Monday and came home on wed. I took a nap at home and woke up with 100.6 fever. Call doc right away! He told me to take liquid tylenol and fever went away. I had a fever thurs (100.8) and fri (100.6) too. Called doctor again on Friday. He said to continue with liquid tylenol. It really isn't considered a fever until it is 101.0...is what my doctor said. Hopefully today I will not have one! And just for fun, I will throw out that I have lost 15 lbs. in 6 days! Woot!
  7. I am also experiencing a white tounge and the sensation of a hair in the back of my throat. I don't know what it is either...but I will suggest investing in a tounge scraper. It helps!
  8. My doctor does not put his patients on a pre-liquid diet. He just requires us not to eat after 10 pm the night before surgery, and to have a lite dinner. If you have several days to go before surgery...you might be safe. Though I am not trying to discredit how your doctor does things...I am just saying I didn't do the pre liquid diet and did okay. Everyone is different. Also...I had no post operative vomiting.

    Back Pain?

I have such pain that it keeps me from sleeping. It radiates from my left shoulder. My boyfriend is a massage therapist and I am constantly asking him to massage it. At one of my doctors appointments there was mention of pain from trapped gasses and that it would be felt in the left shoulder. I feel it all through the lef side of my back. I am on day 5 of recovery and only want to take my pain meds to combat the shoulder pain I am experiencing. My stomach area is actually manageable.
  10. I also just had my sleeve on Monday. I was told to only consume warm liquids. I was having quite a bit of trouble with spasms and the cold ice chips were agrivating the situation. I did what they suggested and that really helped me.
