~April Sleevers~
One month since surgery! Feeling good and slowly regaining my energy level. Down 32.1 pounds since my pre-op appointment March 28th.

Surgery Date
Mine was 4 weeks. Could have gotten in in 3 but the first date didn't really work for me. All depends on your surgeon.

Does Anyone Know *why* Ba Vitamins...
I thought it was just me. I take the bariatric advantage multis and have gotten sick after taking them twice. I am trying to find the best time to take them .... sticking with them because they have B Complex in them AND the biotin level is amazing. Would like to know the answer as well.

Who To Tell And Not Tell....
Before surgery very few people knew. My mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, grandma, and uncle knew. I told my closest friends and a few select coworkers that I knew would be supportive, including my boss. I wanted to avoid the naysayers and be comfortable with my decision and focus on the pre-op stuff prior to undergoing the procedure. Coworkers that didn't know were simply told I was going on medical leave. Since surgery, I have told a few more people, but have limited the knowledge simply because it is still new (surgery 4/24/12) and I have lots of things to focus on yet. (I did tell one neighbor, a nurse, who I thought would be supportive. Instead, she tried to talk me out of my surgeon, who I love, so I never brought it up with her again.) It's a personal decision who you tell and you have to do what is right for you. I'm not ashamed of my decision, I just don't want to have to explain why I made it.

Suggestions For Eating?
I'm curious as to the name of your program as well. I hate the time that is built into the Iphone.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Surgery on April 24th. Attended Nashville's Iroquois Steeplechase just 2.5 weeks later on May 12, 2012. Loving that even that close after surgery, I'm still able to live life even with diet restrictions. Down about 28 pounds since my pre-op appointment March 28th.

Where Do I Start Exercising?
Right now, I'm just walking at least 30 minutes a day. I was sleeved April 24th and I feel like I just don't have the energy to do much more than that right now.

Did Surgery Make Your Period Come Earlier And Stronger?
Spotted the week after surgery, good for a week and then started spotting again this week. I am on birth control and my period is due next week. I was told my body was adjusting and its normal. I have my annual in a few weeks so hopefully will get some more answers.

Mederma... And Other Scar Treatments. Do They Work?
I echo that tanning this close to surgery isn't good for your scars. ( as a melanoma survivor tanning is never good). I use vitamin E oil on mine.

Going Back To Work
Mine was covered under FMLA.

City Dwellers -- 4Th Floor Walk-Up
I had more trouble going down post op than up.

Tmi? - Ladies - Anyone Else Have Period Problems Post-Op?
Grr. One week of spotting post op, one week good and now spotting again. Dear body.... Do you really have to do this?

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Congrats Willowsknot! We have jeans day at work today for a cookout...I brought my own lunch since my very conservative dr wants me on purée until 2 months post op. Had to find a belt this morning! Something I didn't need to keep my pants up three weeks ago before surgery!!

Question
I think your doctor will understand and not think you to be a weirdo. My doctor was actually surprised that I had the opposite reaction and was blessed with a very easy recovery.

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..
Another single sleever here! 30 years old and live in the Nashville, TN area. Born and raised in Ohio. Moved to Nashville for better career options....6 years later, excited to see what other options arise as I become the new, healthy me. Sleeved 4/24/12.

Self Pay: Is It All That It Seems?
I considered 2 centers and both provided their out of pocket prices upfront and in writing. Once I picked the surgeon, I signed the form acknowledging that if I had complications, those expenses were not covered by the price. I knew that there would be a cost from the radiologist for the upper GI, but they gave me an estimate. I actually paid the upfront fee directly to the center and they dispersed the money to the appropriate locations.

Driving
I was allowed to drive once I was no longer on pain meds. I had surgery on a Tuesday and drove on Saturday with my mom as a passenger. On Sunday I went to a bridal shower on my own. Just follow what your surgeon tells you.

Protein Shake From Gnc
I tried some unflavored from there to mix into my food without adding taste. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to it. Thankfully, GNC has a 100% guarantee policy so they refunded my money.

Getting Ready!
Good luck! Keep us posted after surgery. I too was VERY nervous in the pre-op area. The surgeon wouldn't okay me to be wheeled into surgery until I was 100% ready....it was just nerves that surround every surgery I have had.

First Outting Since Surgey And ....
Not 100 percent but I've been doing minimum outings daily to help build strength. Have an event similar to the derby next week, which is just 2.5 weeks post-op and I'm planning of sitting most of the day!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Also sleeved on the 24th. If I take too big of a drink or drink too fast I hear a gurgle.
-
Ugh!
I crunch on ice to get the chewing fix. I was never much of an ice cruncher pre-op.
-
Vegetable Dreaming - Wanna Know....
I'm ready for veggies. I'm on purée stage and they don't sound appealing puréed at all.

On My Way
Good luck! As far as which procedure, research, research, research! Only you know what is right for you. Your surgeon can help, but mine told me to be successful, I had to own it! 10 days out from VSG and no regrets.

Hair Dye
Make sure the hospital allows nail polish during surgery. I've never had a surgery where you were allowed it.
