  1. I had surgery April 24th and am scheduled to return to work May 10th. Even with a desk job, my surgeon recommended to wait until after my 2 week follow up (May 9th) before returning to work.
  2. I was suppose to be full liquids for 2 weeks after surgery. I'm one week out and already on pureed food. Curious to see if I'll get to move to the soft foods/mushies early. 2 week follow up next Wednesday. It's interesting to see the differences from program to program. Heck, the doctors within the same bariatric center where I had surgery differ. I think it also has to do with the doctor's evaluation of the patient and how the patient handles each stage.
  3. Anyone know if you break out in a rash on just one part of you body if whey allergy? Tried a new brand with unflavored to help get extra protein in and now I have a rash on my stomach. Thought maybe Durabond allergy but the rash is in spaces not near my incisions.
  4. Not too many. I thought that too for my pre-op consult. The surgeon answered everything and didn't rush me. I even asked a few things right before I was rolled into the OR. They expect you to ask questions!
  5. Congrats to all the April sleeves!! Let's keep each other updated on our progress as we continue our journey together!!!
  6. Glad it's not just me. While frustrating I can handle it! I just wonder whether to keep taking the birth control for now since I take it to regulate my periods and that's clearly not working.
  7. I was sleeved last Tuesday. They didn't let me take my birth control while I was in the hospital (2 nights). Doctor gave me the okay to resume taking them on Thursday night when I got home. He didn't tell me I need to crush them or anything since they were small enough. Despite having my period the week before surgery, I started spotting on Friday and feel like I've been having a mini-period ever since, despite taking the birth control regularly. Anyone else have this problem? If it's not resolved itself tomorrow, I think I'm calling the doctor's office to figure out what the deal is because this is annoying and frustrating.
  8. Congrats!! Sleeved 4/24 here.
  9. I am one week post-op tomorrow. I am lucky enough my mom (banded in 2009) is here until the weekend. She didn't think I should mow one week out so I made her dinner. Grilled handburgers and Mac and cheese. Didnt bother me at all to make it but she felt bad making me cook when I'm on purée food. Then as she ate half her burger and her Mac and cheese, I got full on just 2 tablespoons of my puréed Mac and cheese (mixed with protein powder). Couldn't believe how little it takes to fill me up. As we cleaned up the leftovers we commented about how a few years ago we would have devoured the Mac and cheese. The little things make me happy.
  10. I have the same problem. I transition to purée on Monday and went shopping and stocked up on what sounded good today at the store.
  11. My surgeon told me to plan on 2 weeks. I figure when I go for my 2 week follow up, provided I'm feeling well, I will ask for a full release to return. My boss totally understands....being a workaholic, it is tough. I'll be checking email and doing a bit from home as I can.
  12. I was sleeved on 4/24. Fully expected to be on full liquids for 2 weeks post-op based on everything I received from the doctor's office and the NUT. When my doctor visited me Thursday morning to discharge me he said that I should do full liquids for the weekend but then start on puree foods Monday. In fact, they even ordered some puree food for Thursday's Breakfast (I must add the pureed eggs repulsed me when I opened the container to see what it was). I was fully prepared for 2 weeks to prepare recipe ideas for puree food.....any suggestions on GOOD food?
  13. Don't think of it as a sign you shouldn't have surgery. I was self pay and hit a few road bumps due to a history of melanoma. As frustrated as I was it delayed me over a month, my surgeon was looking out for my best interest. Your surgeon wants to be sure you will come out of surgery with no complications! Keep on and everything will work out!
  14. I stayed in the US. Financed with credit card and Care Credit. Wanted a local doctor that could meet me at the hospital if I had an emergency. That benefit worth the price difference in my mind.
  15. Sleeved 4/24. Released from hospital today. Resting, walking, and sipping.
  16. I didn't have a drain for this surgery but have had one in the past. Didn't feel a thing when they pulled it out.
  17. 46 hours post op and waiting for my doctor to visit and sign my hospital discharge papers. Minimal pain....discomfort when I move. Some nausea but just ask for drugs to help with that. Surgeon told my mom my surgery was "boring"...meaning everything went as planned with no unexpected findings. Can't wait to get home and love on my puppies, shower, and sleep in my own bed/recliner! Good luck to those April sleevers waiting for survey and speedy recovery to everyone!!!
  18. Your pre-op diet will depend on your surgeon and nutritionist. I am not allowed to add frozen yogurt or fruit to my shakes. My mom, who had lapband surgery a few years ago, was allowed to have fruit with hers.
