  1. I didn't worry about it because non of us know even what is going to happen tomorrow! What I did concentrate on was the quality of my life today. I wasn't enjoying my life before the sleeve and the op made such a big difference. You will find many testimonies on her where people feel that they have been given a new lease after WLS. As we get older we naturally have to deal with different health issues (part of life) but having our weight down I feel will help the situation and keep some of the issues at bay. Have faith in your decision and good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery.
  2. An easy way to get protein in is to add protein powder to Greek yoghurt. When you first add it you think it is drying out but just keep on stirring and it goes back to yoghurt consistency . I like Fage Greek yoghurt as it has a high protein content but I have recently had Greek yoghurt from Aldi and it was so creamy (and cheaper).
  3. You won't find much UK info on this site as people are mainly based in USA. You are in the right forum though to make contact with people from UK. Sleeve isn't that well known yet . The info people have post op applies mainly in that Protein first and do not eat and drink together. Stalls happen whichever side of the pond you are on. It gets a bit frustrating sometimes when they are talking about food products we cannot get.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I had sad news this morning my SIL passed away (lung cancer) only 58. She was diagnosed about 8 months ago and was told at the time she only had a 1% chance of survival. She had op and a few rounds of chemo. She kept it from friends and only the immediate family knew, she was still going in to work a couple of days a week. She founded and ran a charity for disabled youngsters to enable them to meet up and have a social life. Her youngest is 22 and he has cerebral palsy and this was her motivation. Even though it was expected it was so sudden, last week she was at the Glastonbury Festival with her family. Weight gain seems very insignificant today.

What colour are you now and what colour do you intend to become? Wine is my downfall because when we have the wine we also have crisps and chocolate. So lots of calories but no nutrition. See I know what the problem is I'm just not tackling it. At least Sheryl you have upped your exercise to compensate for things. I'm not doing any at the moment. I don't like exercise and I did have to force myself to do it but I must admit I do feel better afterwards. I need to get my head in the right place again. How come weight gained is twice as hard to lose?

Denise is a move to Portland out of the question? I know you started to exercise again is everything all OK with your back now and did the op fix everything? Weight gain is a pig - no take that back I'm being the pig which is causing the gain. I wish Kim would post as I want to know all about her Scotland trip.

Thanks for responding Sheryl. My post was written when I was feeling vulnerable. I'm just feeling a bit down and put upon. I have had a cold for nearly a month and am finding it hard to shake off. I think I am over the worst of it now. I'm still trying to take care of mum who lives 200 miles away, working, hubby working away and my elderly dog has just been through major surgery. I didn't think she was going to make it and I made my boys say good bye to her when they visited for Father's Day. Life was just feeling hard. My weight is approx 28lb up from my lowest and I wasn't at my goal then. Feeling a bit of a failure. I know what is wrong, diet wrong, wine up and exercise virtually zero. I have a couple of days of being 'good' but then I lose it again. Cuba in 7 weeks and I need to be lighter. I saw the post about the vets forum, I did post about how I find it difficult to find when accessing via iPad. I agree that 18 months post op is the best time to be a 'vet'. A couple of old names have come out of the woodwork in the past few days so maybe it will become more lively. You seem to be enjoying life at the moment which is nice to see.
  10. My protein.com is a useful site. You can order sample sizes so you can check out the flavours. I think whey protein is the one recommended. Don't pay the extra for fast delivery cos it comes quick anyway. Full contents/ingredients are listed

    Anyone in Japan?

    Europe is cheaper than UK

Veterans ONLY please. One year + post op.

Personally using the iPad the veterans forum is hard to find. Though I do think a 18 month post op to be a veteran would be fine.

Guys come on let's pull together. No one is posting and we are going to run to ground. Surely we don't want this. Kim, Denise, Sheryl, Coops, Georgia ... Surely we don't want to loose touch. XXX

    Diet pill

1 stone =14lb, most people in UK weigh themselves in stones and lbs so for example they might say they are 10st 4lb which is 144lb.
  16. Look realistically at your diet. What are you doing wrong? I don't know enough about the RNY but assume you still have restriction. Plan, log and reflect on everything you are eating each day. You obviously want this so go right back to basics. I know people on this site often say seek a therapist, they're not big here in UK but you have to grasp whatever is available. If you are working such a long day how are you getting your protein in? Protein seems to be the key to everything so concentrate on this. I wish you well.

I think Denise wanted the instructions in a place she can find them. She obviously loved the photo and wants to use it in her FB page.

    Set back

Do you know why you have put on the weight? Poor diet? Lack of exercise ... Also do you still have restriction? To get back on track some people try the 5 day pouch test (google it). Try logging everything you eat in myfitnesspal for a few days and really analyse your diet. You still have your sleeve, you just need to make it work for you and with you. Best of luck. PS I'm 4 years post op and have put back on some of the weight so know what you are battling with.

Denise I shouldn't laugh but I did[emoji1]. I just had the vision in my mind of it happening. What did you do/say? I would of ran a mile. Glad you are enjoying the trainer, I miss mine and have to find some classes and motivation cos I'm hardly exercising. Keep with it, even if the lbs don't drop the inches will plus it will strengthen your back.

I was going to ask about Memorial Day but thought I had figured it out. Over here we remember on 11th day of 11th month at 11.00 am when the whole country comes to a halt for a 2 minutes silence. The Sunday nearest the 11/11 is designated Remembrance Sunday and there are ceremonies at war memorials.

    I've gained weight

Just realised that I made a comment on this post in Jan 15 and now I'm in exactly the same position. Weight up and finding it difficult to get my head back in the right place. I know that wine (which also then includes crisps and chocolate) is my downfall. Try not to have a drink work nights but weekends are a free for all. It is such a sociable thing to do and I must find other things that don't involve it. It is all such wasted calories and way too much sugar/carbs. I have made myself a few cards that say "Don't waste the gift" and placed them in strategic places. One is in my bathroom cabinet so that when I reach for my toothbrush each day I see it. My sleeve is a gift. One day at a time.

Denise, glad you are excited and I hope it works out as you have confided in us that you really do want to meet someone special who you can spend time with. Sheryl sorry you are having such as stressed out time. It's horrible when our children are a worry to us - we would do anything to take away their worry/pain/sorrow... Why does the thought of Michael falling in love with you cause concern? Are you just after a light-hearted relationship, if so does he know? Kim you must have returned from your trip to the UK (Scotland by now), how did it go and did you come across any dietary horrors? Haggis I can do but I was thinking of deep fried mars bars (google it). It is a public holiday here on Monday so lots of people have a long weekend so the roads are very busy leading to holiday destinations. I'm staying home and only venturing out on Tuesday when they are all back at work. I'm Very lucky as I have a weeks break from work as it is half term. Happy weekend everyone.
