How Do I Get Thru This Stall?!
UK Cathy replied to augustkiwi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you measured yourself? This is a great tool for when the scales do not move. I was lucky to measure myself pre-op and remeasure myself when the scale does not move is invaluable and keeps me sane, I am 31/2 months post op and have lost a total of 43lb -now that is not a lot when compared to some and it gets me down at times. However, I measure bust, hips, waist, left thigh, left upper arm and neck and my inches loss is 30" which I am happy with. I weigh and measure each week and I find that if the scale does not go down then the inches do and vice versa. Give measuring a try it might help you -
Welcome, your journey so far has been fast. This site is a mine of information and there is always someone on hand to offer advice and assistance. The good thing is people have either had the surgery or it is pending and in both cases they have done loads of research and so the advice given is good and practical. take care of yourself -Cathy

Anyone Else Feel Like They Will Suddenly Not Lose Any More?
UK Cathy replied to Chimera's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think we get too hung up on the scales and that includes me! I am down 42lb (including pre-op) and I was sleeved on 3 April. I read these pages more than I post so I know that is not a fast loss and I have to be careful not to constantly compare myself to others. In addition to these lbs I have lost inches. I measure bust, waist, hips, left thigh, left upper arm and neck and my inches loss is 28.5 inches!! I try to weigh and measure just once a week and it is a relief when the scale does not move to see the tape measure move. I have not had a single week where neither the scale or measurement don't change, plenty where it was only one or the other. So I strongly encourage everyone to measure themselves especially if you are not satisfied with the rate of loss or if you are in a stall. -
Hi, sleeved 3 April here and my hair is falling out in handfuls. I have thick hair and not too worried at the moment. I did have similar hairloss when I did the liquid diet lighterlife 6 years ago. I didn't go bald then so I am confident I won't go bald this time but it is a bit worrying when washing my hair how much does come out.

Best Decision I Have Ever Made
UK Cathy replied to cjones1974's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your loss and on taking a hold of your life and putting it on the right path, well done you. You will find this site inspiring and so useful for advice. I was sleeved 3rd April and so far have lost 37lb, weight loss is a bit slower than I hoped but following threads on this site I see people loose at different rates so I am not too unhappy. Today I joined a gym (and paid for the full year) so I have to go now and tone up my jelly belly and the other bits as the weight comes off. -

I am so sorry to hear about your problems, it must be frightening for you. I can only offer prayers and positive vibes and hope that you and your doctors find a solution soon. -
Well done on reaching the 100's and good luck for the rest of your journey. I was sleeved 3rd April and down 35lb but I can only dream of the 100's just now -it is going to take some more time. Cathy

Feeling Depressed
UK Cathy replied to atkinsguidry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You taking your vitamins? I think it is lack of B12 that can cause tiredness. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone in the know will come along and give the correct advice. -
Best Wishes, hope everything goes well XX

How Often Do You Record Measurements?
UK Cathy replied to Musharooni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As part of my contract with surgeon I have to send in weight and measurements each month (using them as part of research) for at least 2 years. I am also taking a picture each month. Only 2 sets so far pre-op and 1 month post (I'm 6 weeks out) -

Sheila, Sorry to hear about the cancer but am glad it has been diagnosed and can now be treated. Thoughts and paryers are with you. Cathy -
When did you have your surgery? Also what are you eating and the amounts. Sometimes just writing it down can be a reality check.

Happy Birthday to you

Kat1, welcome. I too went to a different country by myself and it was fine. Try and see if the hospital will put you in contact with someone else having their surgery at the same time so that you could contact them by email and maybe feel a little better. I flew from the UK to Europe and like yourself was anxious, journey home on flight was OK followed by a 3 hr car ride. I travelled well but was just tired.

3 Weeks In Surgery - Weight Is Stalled
UK Cathy replied to hgor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 3rd April and I have too stayed the same for the past week. Don't worry as it is normal and we just have to be patient. Our bodies have been through a huge thing and they are taking stock. I'm sure many others will come and post and say it happens to most people around the 3 week mark, they will also testify that it passes and will tell you what remarkable weights they have gone on to lose. Relax. -
Hi Guys, 3 weeks out today and have hit the dreaded stall. I know it happens to everyone but just need a little encouragement that it will pass. Thanks

I Was Sleeved Yesterday... Ughhh!
UK Cathy replied to FluffyBleu76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sip, sip, sip the liquid. I found this helped too. Congratulations on your sleeve! -
Hi everyone, well I am 2 weeks out and feel good. I was kept in hospital for one extra day because of the nausea, the doctor immediatly ordered x rays and bloods to check everything was OK, he even accompanied me to the x-ray dept!. Everything was fine I was just so nauseous. So he ordered sickness meds, pain killers and a laxative! Well it all worked and the next day I felt like a new woman and could get home. Luckily there was a plane with a spare seat and I was transferred without any hassle. I only have wonderful things to say about my doctor and staff at the hospital. The hospital itself was a bit basic by my home standards but it was sqeaky clean, but give me good care over posh anytime. My loss so far including pre-op is 22lbs and I am pleased with that. I started puree food Tuesday and it is wonderful, to have some texture in the food. I go back to work on Monday so hope my energy levels hold out, no one knows about the op but I did make a big fuss about my pre-op saying how I was cutting out bread and was going to make a big effort with food choices. I suppose I will take soup for my lunch until I can have crackers/ryvita. Anyway that is my post op journey so far. Cathy

Losing Without Protein Drinks?
UK Cathy replied to Cherrybomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put protein powder into greek youghurt. When you first add it you think it wont mix but just keep on stirring and it comes good. With 100g of yoghurt and 25g of protein powder I get 35g protein. -
Hi Booklean, I too had my surgery with Cosmetic Bliss in Czech Rep. I am 2 weeks post surgery and I feel good. I am managing to get in my Protein (using protein powder) and fluids. Tomorrow I move on to sloppy food and I can't wait. The reason I chose CB was I had a BMI of 46 and so did not meet the criteria for the NHS (has to be 50 in my area or 40 with health issues) The surgeon has vast experience of sleeve surgery. Sleeve surgery is not that common in the UK yet though it is increasing, surgeons usually recommend band or bypass. cost To send a private message to someon click on their name in the profile area (left of screen) and the option to send a message will appear.
