Coops, I'm jealous as I just love Portugal which part of the Algarve are you going to? We usually go to Luz. The weather is cracking here though isn't it? I feel I'm in Portugal some days when I sit out on the patio. I presume your loss of internet was those thunderstorms. A friend of ours about 20 miles away lost all contact for a week or more too, they were lucky though as a house in their street got a direct hit and they lost all electrical appliances and it also shorted the electrics throughout the house and it looks like it is going to have to be rewired. The family was lucky though as I believe some of the appliances were dragged out of the house smouldering. You go and enjoy that holiday and wear those bikinis with pride. Florinda the pay sounds bad but if it will cover your bills and it is a means of getting out of our current situation is might be worth considering. Anyone heard from Kim and when the funeral is? Dee is sound like you are in a stressful situation with work and we all know that stress often does not contribute towards weight loss at all. Don't focus on what you have gained but on what you have lost and just take one day at a time. As Wanda said it is so quiet on here maybe we need to rally the troops so that we can ask for or offer support. -
Death of my husband 7 weeks today and up 23 pounds since January.

Wanda, still doing good, go you! Has it shown on the scales yet. Im thinking of putting a b&b sign up as this week we had Kevin's cousin and husband arrive Wednesday, his sister yesterday and his brother and partner today. Cousin and brother only staying 1 night so it is good that the weather is good to dry all the bedding and towels. it is good to see people though. Rip out and rebuild of bathrooms starts on Monday followed by kitchen on 18 August, by September we will be gorgeous but in the meantime my summer holiday will be spent making tea for workmen. Glorious day here today but they say it is going to build up to be the hottest day of the year, must go and put sunscreen on. Thunderstorms to follow. -

Florinda, what a shambles, you must be fuming. I know you are linked to the military but not in it but whoever you work for need to get their house in order. It seems that you are just being pushed from pillar to post and back again! It must be very unsettling for you. Besides the job how is life going - Boyfriend and health good? Wanda, well done on your low carb day. I too decided to take control back and yesterday was a good day, not perfect but certainly a lot better than it has been in the past 3 months. I am just off to the supermarket and will put some nice things for me in the basket. One day at a time. Sarah you are right I need to make myself more accountable, pop in more and ask for help when I need it. Thats something I'm not good at, I always give the help I do not ask for it. -

Coops, so glad to hear from you, sorry you have been feeling down hope things are picking up now. I know what you mean about standing still on the weight front, since moving into the house I have not lost anything and have in fact put on 4lb which refuse to go. Though in my case I know it is my fault, the carbs have crept back and I feel like I'm on holiday in this house and have been eating/drinking accordingly. I love the house but things are unsettled because workmen are in and out all the time at the moment. This week there is no one coming, Yay! but from next week we will have at least 5 weeks of upheaval as the bathrooms and kitchen is done. I know it is all going to be fab when it is finished, but the upheaval. I suppose Im using the 'work' as an excuse and I really must get my head around this or by the time it is all finished I will be higher again. Love to all -

I had a lovely weekend, met up with some old friends we have not seen in a while and had fun catching up. They live in a place called Knaresborough and this weekend the Tour De France (big bike race) started in their area and 1000s of people were out enjoying the whole experience. The planning of this race had obviously taken many months (if not years) and the whole town joined in, houses and shops were decorated, food stalls out in the town centre, cars temporarily banned. I sat in the castle grounds (yes and the picture you get in your mind is real (castle is mainly ruins)) and watched the Grand Depart on the big screen with thousands of others and the atmosphere was electric. That was Saturday and Grand Depart was in neighbouring town and yesterday the race came through the actual town as part of the route so of course we all had to go out again and cheer and party. work in 30 mins but I would rather rest at home but that is not going to happen. -

Sarah, hope it all goes well. I have just said a prayer for you, your surgeon and your family. Im just going out to work and by the time I get back your op will be all over. Brown Im so glad your play went well, you certainly have worked hard on it. If I was you I would put a call out to your congregation as I'm sure there wass lots of people taking photographs or even a video. You deserve to have a record of your achievement. Sorry to hear about your mum, it must have been a great shock to you to realise how weak she has become on her legs. I keep telling my hubby this we must make sure that MIL walks and be encouraged to walk. Prayers have been offered for your mum and you. Well im going to be late if I don't get a move on. Love to all you ladiesXX -

Personally I think yes, we need to keep the protein up. The protein shake I have says only 98 cal but 20g of protein so it is not many calories to give up. Im sure that someone with more scientific knowledge will come along soon. How is the play coming along? -

Ladies, its good to be back! I have been able to read posts but every time I wanted to post a reply I lost the connection. It was so frustrating. I know I have missed lots but here goes: Happy belated Birthday Sheryl, hope it was a good one. I know you are a bit down at the moment and my thoughts are with you. Wanda, Has your play been performed yet? if so how did it go. Georgina, love the new pic. Sarah Im a bit jealous of the PS. I need to make an appointment so they can guide me into how much more I need to lose. Co-ops. Hope you had a good time in London. Florinda hope you are having a wonderful time with your mum. The picture of you and the boyfriend was amazing. Sheila I know you are busy looking for a new job and taking care of the family but we have not heard from you in a short while FYE as always you speak words of wisdom with any message you post. I know I have missed others..Sorry. As for me the house is wonderful and we really enjoy living here. two bedrooms are decorated with the paint/paper purchased for the 3rd and that should happen next week. I have had 2 people in about the kitchen and they have both submitted their designs we think we have chosen one and they can start July 29. Bathrooms still to be decided. Paper/paint also purchased for the lounge. Do any of you ladies have experience of a light pipe? Our main bathroom is an interior one and that means no window and hence no natural light. I have looked up these light pipes and they look good, they are like a periscope and a series of mirrors (in a tube) link the room with the outside. The pipe goes from the ceiling of the room through the attic to the roof. On paper they look good but I wondered if you have come across them, have one yourself or have a relative/friend have one. The room needs something as it feels very claustrophobic Weight wise I am at a standstill and I cannot remember the last day I had a proper fast. I know it s all down to me and I need to get back on track. The carb monster has a hold of me and I need to shake him off. Lovely to be back in touch again. Love to ALL -
