  1. I'm a week out from revision, sleeve to bypass due to reflux. I'm an emotional mess....every moment I want to cry for no reason. I don't know if some of my meds are not being absorbed correctly. But I can't take this..I'm normally pretty upbeat, but someone can look at me and I start to cry. Feel like I can't catch my breath, depressed, I'm going to call my family dr on Monday to see if my meds are they should be...but man I'm a mess...any suggestions?
  2. I'm having a revision next week on Thursday Oct 24th. I would take part in this group. Thanks
  3. Well is this wide band thing that you wrap around your belly area after surgery for support it Velcro’s
  4. Going from Sleeve to By Pass due to Acid Reflux. Surgery has been approved and will be on Oct 24th. I've struggled with this decision for almost 3 years and finally got the courage to move forward. No liver shrink required this time, as I'm spot on with my weight (could lost 10 lbs). My doctor wants to keep a close eye on me so I don't lose to much. Also anxious to see if it helps improve my diabetes further than what the sleeve did. I'm not looking forward to the learning curve with eating the doctor says there will be...very afraid of possible dumping..I never had that with the sleeve. Fearful that I will never be able to eat a cupcake for the rest of my life, or have an ice cream cone. Hopefully I can once in a while... The doctors office gave me a "belly binder" I didn't have to wear that with my sleeve but they highly recommended I do this time. And tips or suggestions you have send them my way!
  5. I’ve asked this before a while back.. and I know there are always new folks on the board so I thought I’d ask it again... if you had the sleeve and diabetes...then revised to bypass did your diabetes improve?
  6. How long before you were allowed to lift over 10 lbs, after your revision?
  7. Just jumping in... I had acid before sleeve, some how I missed the part about it may worsen with the sleeve... mine is controlled with meds, however the prescription med I take is damaging my kidneys and I’m a diabetic, so my endocrinologist wants me to get the bypass so I can get off the prescription medicine for the reflux
  8. Hi there, me too! However, here in the US large pharmacies like Walgreen and CVS have stared pulling them off the shelf. I take them and a prescription PPI, which my Endocrinologist wants me off of, as the PPI damages kidney function! I'm been scheduled twice to convert from a sleeve to the by-pass due to reflux, and I've chickened out both times, now for a third time I see the surgeon next Monday to discussed it again, based on all this bad news about the antacid meds.
  9. I'm scheduled for Sleeve to Bypass revision in two weeks due to GERD, and I don't feel peace about the surgery, nor I'm I feeling gung-ho about starting the liver shrink on Thursday, or going through all the post-op food steps and watching every single thing I put in my mouth.....I'm 5 years post Sleeve and I'm at goal weight. I just don't think I want this surgery. With my sleeve I don't have to take a steady stream of vitamins nor do I have to think of maybe never eating Ice cream again due to dumping... I also don't want the big bill from my medical deductible that the surgery will leave me paying.....I probably sound like a big baby....Sigh....the thought of surgery again is just not appealing to me right now....but Dr. says I can't keep taking the GERD meds, as they can cause harm to my kidneys....What's a girl to do? I guess I'm just venting....
  10. So I called my Dr. This morning and they said they don’t do the Linx at this time😢
  11. I’m of course supposed to take vitamins, I’m not consistent and all my blood work has always been great over the past five years, but with the bypass they said if I don’t take the vitamins consistently Id be sorry🙃
  12. The Dr. Said just to be sure, I only have to do it for two weeks.
  13. Please tell me more what is Linx procedure?
  14. Yes my GERD is pretty severe, on the test she gave me to measure my acid I was a 95, you only have to be a 14 in order for it to be medically necessary...I know I really need to have it, before real damage is done, but boy I just don't want too...I'm sure in a day or two I'll get myself together and start the darn liver shrink....Thanks for "listening".
  15. I love my sleeve and I too have had great results with it!! I am scared about the surgery, certainly never thought I’d have one surgery let alone two! I’m at goal weight my BMI is 25! I don’t want to list anymore, they say I should not lose “much” I hope they are right..they keep says the pouch is so much smaller than The sleeve, I feel like I barely eat anything now! I have gone back and forth about this for a long time! But the acid is going to cause damage so, at this point I don’t think I have a choice!
  16. Sleeve in 2014, acid reflux out of control.. revision was approved yesterday.. presurgery consult next Monday, will get surgery date then... nervous and have no idea what to expect#otherthanacidilovtsleeve with the sleeve surgery I remember having pain where they removed my belly, what pain did you have with bypass right after surgery? What is recovery like? My surgeon says the surgery itself will take about 3-4 hours and she said she has her revision patients “take it slow”! Afterwards...
  17. Thanks everyone, my BMI is 25 still my diabetes lives on.. fingers crossed revision will change that ...even though it has greatly improved with the sleeve I pray for no meds
  18. Forums Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forum Post Reply Revision from Sleeve to By-Pass lrm1986 on 1/21/19 10:19 am Hey there, I’ve not posted for a very long time. I had sleeve in 2014 like many I have horrible GERD, my doctor recommended revision about a year ago and I chickened out. I love my sleeve and I really don’t want to have surgery but I’m diabetic and my Endocrinologist says the antacids have a high potential to cause kidney damage over the long haul (which diabetics are already prone too)..so he wants me off of them! I’m at my goal weight, so I’m not worried about losing anymore but my sleeve never put my diabetes in full remission, it did get better but I’m still in two meds, I’m wondering if any sleevers had this happen with their diabetes and did a revision then put it in remission? Also how long were you off work with revision? Any other tips or information would be great! Thanks
  19. Two weeks seems quick to have gone back to work! Take care of yourself!
  20. Hi there, it's been a very long time since I've been on the boards. However I had gastric sleeve surgery in September 2014. It has been very successful, I've had virtually no complications. I only need to lose 20lbs to be at my goal weight. However, I had acid reflux prior to having this surgery and for whatever reason, the person that did my endoscope prior to surgery ok'd me for the sleeve and I stupidly thought that once I lost weight and was eating right, the acid would somehow go away. I was wrong...I don't know if it's really worse than before surgery but it is certainly not any better. I've taken prescription medicine for about 20 years for acid reflux and I still continue to need it now. I've had a few attacks in the last 6 months that have been what I would call sever. I am also concerned about new reports linking dementia and osteoporosis to acid medicines. I went 2 weeks ago to see my gastric surgeon about this and I didn't really know what to expect at that visit, however once I told her what had been happening she said here are your options. First, thing was do nothing up your acid medicine and the second thing was revision to by pass. The second one, I was not expecting, it never ever crossed my mind that I would need a revision. Now the surgeon explains how the bypass would get rid of the acid, however I have a friend that has had a bypass or still takes acid medicine. I go tomorrow for a PH balance test and an endoscopy to see what things in there are looking like, however I'd like to know after bypass do you still have acid issues? If you do, I'm not sure what the point of revision would be. Also if I were to get the revision, how much more weight would I expect to lose? I don't have much more to go and I would worry that then I'd be to thin....(never thought I'd say that:)) Anything you'd be willing to share would be appreciated.
  21. Bearhugs1975, I finally got approved today!! They all calling tomorrow with all the details! How are things going with you? Did your losing slow down?
  22. That's great! Can you tell if you feel more full than before? So this is what's happening on my end..my insurance (Cigna) denied, the jejunectomy that was submitted by the Surgeons office submitted, they said that jejunectomy was not consider a true fix of acid reflux!! So I called the Dr. this morning to find out if they perhaps left something out of the request that was needed. However the lady the answered the phone said it might be Thursday before I hear back. The lady that answer the phone said that procedure is approved for acid, so she was not sure what happened. The person that filed it would have to call me back.
