  1. I read this while sitting at my desk at work in my office building wearing a coat......... I used to do this all year around with a fan blowing!
  2. I am not going to cheat because I don't want this entire experience to be a waste! I did not go thru all of this to end up stretching my stomach to where it was in the first place. I have heard that antacids help with hunger.
  3. I am going thru this pain on the left side now. It started after surgery and ended about a week ago. I jumped for joy. Went about a week without the pain. I took a deep breath yesterday and it was back. So bad it hurt to breathe. Hopefully something will trigger it to go away again. I use a heat patch and when it gets too bad, I will take a prescribed pain pill.
  4. Try warm broth. At first I bought grocery store broth but after about a week of the high sodium, I bought a whole chicken and boiled it and made my own broth. I even froze some for later. It was soothing and I was able to get it down. Now, after 4 going on 5 weeks, I can drink well and also take my meds whole without crushing them. Good luck. It will get better.
  5. Where do you purchase your Premier Protein Chocolate?
  6. Thank you all for your comments. I have been trying to use the protein supplements and I hate them! I am sick of the post surg shakes I drank. I think I can tolerate the bariatric Advantage pre op meal replacements a little better. I bought Muscle Milk and can't stand it! The protein shots upset my stomach as do the muscle milk. I'm still trying to force down cottage cheese and the fish and some Egg Beater. I think I'm getting it down a little better. Still a long way to go. I am following the doctors instruction sheet on what to and what not to eat. I'm to stay on this from day 22 to day 40. Also, I took the catsup advice to heed and am using unsweetened applesauce instead with the fish. Thanks again.
  7. I have made myself eat a 4 oz piece of Talipia fish. I chewed, chewed, chewed and chewed and it took about 2 hours of heating and reheating. I made the fish juicy with catsup. How long before eating becomes more normal? I am trying to get my protein in and this piece was 20 g of protein. I think at this rate I will need a protein supplement.
  8. When can I drink coffee. I was told by the physician not to drink anything but decaffinated but he didn't say for how long.
  9. I was sleeved by Dr Nick on 1/24/2012. Completely satisfied. Answered all of my questions and spent as much time with me as I needed and wasn't in a rush.
  10. Blender bottle works for me. Able to shake from my desk at work if necessary. (I'm still on liquids)
  11. I used to suffer from constipation all my life. Now I find a glass of apple juice/day keeps me regular.
  12. I developed a bad cold the day before I started my pre op diet. By the day of surgery only the cough was left. I think the cough got worse after the surgery and I had to go to my family dr for a rx for the cough. I took it for about a week before the cough went away. I know what you're talking about! It's almost torture! I felt like I busted staples also and told the dr this. He said I was using muscles to cough with and that's what was hurting. Specifically my lower left side. I have not coughed since Friday. I bought some of those heat patches and spent the weekend in bed with the patches and I feel much better. Not 100% but much better. The pain was so bad Friday I could not bend to touch my toes. Today I can.
  13. I would also rate a 10. I received my sleeve on Jan 24, 2012 and have already lost as of last Tuesday ( I only weigh once/wk) 21 pounds!
  14. My surgery was Jan 24th and I'm going on the 3rd week of my all liquid starting Tues. I am to drink 3 protein drinks/day recommended by my dr for 3 weeks. They total about 70 g/day. I think I'm allergic to it. Can someone recommend a good tasting high protein drink? And where to find it.
  15. I had it while I was in the hospital after surgery. I was in 2 days.
  16. I tried. I can't even locate it! Taped one blog. But want a channel and don't know how to do it. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. Think I'm Missysouthernbelle.
  17. I was also sleeved Jan 24th. I had bought broth from the supermarket and it contained 480 mg of sodium/1 cup serving. I went out to buy a whole roasting chicken and boiled it. It made 2 large containers of broth which taste much better than store bought. And I'm sure less sodium. My weight on the day of surgery was 210 lbs. Good luck.
  18. In the hospital, they brought me Crystal Light in different flavors, broth, apple juice and water. Today, I bought apple juice, white grape juice, strawberry & Kiwi, Mango Passion Fruit Juice.
  19. I was constipated while still in the hospital. I stayed 2 nights and was sick, in pain, gassy, bloated, you name it the day after surgery. They gave me 2 enemas that night and that helped a little. I started taking MiraLAX while still in the hospital and after about 3 days, I felt great! My surgery was Tues, Jan 24th.
  20. As I was going thru my paperwork today, my physician states when we're comfortable with it.....
  21. I was sleeved on Jan 24th. I was actually coming on tonight to find out how long will I be sipping??? I have 3 -16 oz protein drinks to drink/day plus all the other drinks. This IS a full time job because of the sipping. We ARE all different because I CAN drink cold fluids. But the broth is helpful to me and I'm drinking apple and white grape juice. I have Mango Passion Fruit, and Strawberry & Kiwi juice also. I also bought protein shots for when I just can't sip anymore like tonight. I worked on 1 protein shake for about 2-1/2 hours. The dr recommends 60 oz of fluid/day and it is HARD after taking so long trying to get these 3 shakes down. Also, my dr prescribed something for nausea, and a prescription for Pepsid, twice a day. I think this is helping because I'm also crushing my vitamin B-12 and bp and pain med.
  22. I'm looking forward to polishing my own toe nails!
  23. My surgery is Jan 24th and I started with coughing and congestion the Monday before my pre op diet. I had to stop my pre op diet so I can get some real food into me but I'm trying to stick very close to high protein and no sugars and fats. I still lost 2 pounds. My sore throat is getting better. No fever. I still am a little congested and a lot less coughing. I am going to another state for my surgery and I'm praying this won't make for a delay. I am going back on my pre-diet tomorrow. Thank God for this 3 day holiday! I hope you feel better and please let me know what happened.
  24. I liked You Tube. search under vertical gastrectomy sleeve. I like this because I see actual videos and some people post every 2 weeks.
