  1. Let me tell you about my experience today with my internal medicine dr. I started my pre op diet Monday but I'm now having some sort of upper respiratory infection. I went to see what could be done. I told him I was having the vertical sleeve done. He looked at me and told me he really didn't think I was 'that' big. I told him I just couldn't get rid of the extra weight. He told me if I could do a pre- op diet, I should be able to do the entire thing. I had to explain to this dr that I have been on every diet he could think of in the past 30 years and have been successful on some of them however could not keep it off. He went on to tell me that this surgery didn't guarantee me to keep it off either. Anyway, he gave me a rx for antibiodics and I got out of there...... I guess I'll have to show him!
  2. I am 213 and 5', 4" and will have surgery 1/24/12. My friend who had the surgery Nov 2010 was 219 and 5' 4". She went from a size 18 to a size 12. She admits to not eating enough protein.
  3. I only want to say, please don't think you are doing anything like this for your kids. I was married for 35 years before I divorced my ex husband. By that time, my kids were grown and damaged from watching the abuse. (no physical) I stayed because I did not have to work. I should have divorced him years ago. I wasted so many years thinking I loved him. I am remarried and if I had stayed with him longer, I would have missed this blessing.
  4. I started my pre op Monday. But had started getting sick Sunday. Alot of coughing and congested. Not getting much better. Surgery is scheduled for the 24th of Jan and hope this does not cause a delay. But, because of this, I'm not very hungry anyway. I drink 2 protein shakes /day and 3 protein bars. Its 9 PM and I still have a bar and shake to go.
  5. Caught a cold or virus Sun. Started my pre op diet Monday....Bummer.... Still on the diet. Wonder if I should call the dr. Don't seem to be getting much better.
