    How many carbs?

See this is more what I was expecting to have post op. And I wonder why I have only lost 15 pounds in 3 months.

    How many carbs?

I am certain. These are the exact specifications i was given to aim for: Fat: less than 20g Calories: 1200 Carbohydrates: 150 Protein: 90 Water: 8-10 glasses This was the specification I was given at my last meeting with my dietician with my bariatric program. Btw: no offense taken. I want to get healthy and lose this weight. That's why I am seeking help

    Too few calories?

I have a fear of eating too much. I eat about 800 calories per day and feel sluggish when I eat more. I cannot wrap my head around this game!

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I am curious guys. At 6 months how much of your excess body weight have you lost. Since surgery i have lost 53% of my excess body weight. Since my highest I have lost 65% of my excess body weight. Also I used the "normal bmi" range to reference my excess body weight.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi guys just checking in. So I am almost 6 months out (April 30/May 1). I am down 76 pounds from surgery. The past 6 weeks have been frustrating. I am bouncing on the scale the same 3 pounds. I am currently 206 pounds. I am not "stalling per say" as I am slowly losing inches still. I am really hoping to be under 200 by my 6 month mark, but at this rate I don't think it will happen. I hope everyone is well, and I am hoping for some more check ins ♡

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I hear ya Rach. I am hoping to get under 200 soon. I am at 209 pounds and it seems like I am stuck. Most days this doesn't bother me so much, must be a mood thing. I am losing ok overall, not fast, not slow, but I am looking forward to hitting below that 200. For me biggest worry is below 189. 189 seems to be my curse. When I was that weight, I exercised and 5 hours a day ate well (probably did not eat enough for the exercise), but I never lost weight. So slowing down now scares the crap out of me.

A favorite item that you could do without

Several things stand out. 1. My spiralizer (makes veggies into noodles) 2. My many Water bottles 3. YouTube (for the many food ideas) 4. My measuring cups and scale 5. I wish I had an amazing blender. Bullets and regular blenders are not powerful enough to make a good smoothie 6. My measuring tape (for depressing days when I think I have not lost anything, my tape always tells me otherwise) 7. My food processor (allows me to use whole vegetables and fruits to make my own sauces I.e Kale pesto) 8. Did I mention my awesome spiralizer lol 9. My mandoline (for slicing veggies) 10. My spray container for oil. I am very oil sensitive and the sprayer makes it easy to only use a little bit (like a Pam spray but I add my own oil to the container, pump and spray) And that spiralizer..... haha I am being so silly tonight LOL (I just got it recently and it is my culinary staple!)

    Ignorance regarding weight loss surgery

I am a nursing student in Canada and am in one of the best universities for nursing. I have found that my classes teach us to look further beyond the presenting problem. For example in my last class I had to talk about childhood obesity, and think outside the box to help that family intervene with their child's disability. I was astonished how well my classmates were considerate of a holistic view and ways to help the patient other than the obvious. I am saddened by your news. I also notice a difference between the rn's in my school from other universities locally. Huge difference in holistic care. I plan to work in pediatric as well as my doctors obesity program (of which he has kindly offered me a job haha). Hopefully some of the new rn's out there can help work with the problems associated with obesity and wls. I k ow my classmates and faculty are excited about my journey. Obesity is something that is so comlicated, that I am glad we are getting NP's like you! <3

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Do you guys ever feel like maybe that's it? I have been fluctuating the same 4 pounds this month, and wondering if I am done. I am eating only healthy stuff and getting the right stuff in. I want to know how the rest of your October's are doing.
  12. Oops double post hehe. I agree, I should have returned it. I forgot about their guarantee. I remembered fortunately WHEN I bought their vitamins. Hehe
  13. The stuff is caustic! I bought an entire package and threw it away. It tastes, wow I cannot even describe it. Almost like fake cheese soup? Where it has that alkaloid aftertaste. I tried it different ways and each was horrible. I would not recommend it. Just an FYI some people say it tastes like kraft dinner cheese, or even package cheese sauce. I am generally a cheese sauce lover and can eat the crappiest stuff, this stuff was not even tolerable to me.

What does your day look like

Oh my goodness everything sounds so yummy. Thank you again for contributing. I know I have not added my own days, and that is because I am struggling haha. I am finally able to get in fluids, but having to go in for emergency surgery a few days ago and having an allergic reaction has set me back..... again. You are all amazing and thank you for helping your fellow wls's!
  17. What do you do when everything you eat makes you feel ill?

What does your day look like

Dee and lilboo, you both have such a great grasp on your days. I am happy to see that you both are working so hard towards your goals. At 3 months out, I find seeing how others normalize their day so helpful. As a "newbie" it can be quite discouraging to get everything in, and when I see others do it, it makes it easier to breathe and I know with practice I will get there too.

    everything hurts my tummy

Oh I forgot to add stuff about me, sorry. I am 3 months out, Lost 110 lbs (50 before 60 after) I am having gall bladder problems which will be resolved in the next few months from surgery I have kidney problems- high uric acid crystals I cannot eat more than 600 calories per day, Am low in protein and water. Had bypass. Before the usual (eat more and drink more) please understand I know this and I am trying my hardest. It hurts to drink, and eating makes me nauseated or full after 2-5 small bites per meal. I do try to have protein shakes, when my stomach does not reject them. They are "heavy" on my stomach. I am struggling and know what improvements need to be done. So please be kind. I am feeling fairly defeated with food. I am speaking with my specialist this week about my fears and restrictions.

    T25

I plan to do some yoga for my toning and strengthening. I have strict personal rules about high intensity for 6 months.
  23. This is a very good post. I cannot say it made me change careers, but it was because of my career I decided to have wls. I am currently completing my RN nursing degree, and refuse to be a hypocrite with my patients. There is nothing worse than an obese nurse teaching an obese patient how to lose weight and the support network available. I aim to be an amazing nurse, as I am not in it just for the money, I genuinely want to be there for my patients as a valuable resource, and my weight hinders me from doing this. I hope that made sense.

    Any Canadians Out There?

BC girl here. I am almost 3 months post op. I am not losing fast and I am not losing slow. I would say I am just slightly below average weight loss for my time out. I started losing weight in May 2013, at 333lbs. On my day of surgery I was 283lbs and am now weighing 239lbs. I am so close to 100lbs lost I can taste it. I am hoping to get to 170's or 160's by my 30th birthday in September. Goal would be better, but under 200 would just be awesome!!
