  1. This is me too, unfortunately. Sleeved in 2016 and have seen steady incline—most rapidly in the past four months. My first step was to go to my surgeon’s office, talk about the program with someone that understands what I’m supposed to be doing (I’ve had almost zero group support). Now I’m back here, trying to refocus and get healthy again!

  2. @@Mega_100 - I started with a provider from my insurance too. Unfortunately, I found them giving me wrong information according to my surgeon so that was concerning to me. I talked to my therapist and we do a payment plan that works for me and my finances. Don't be afraid to ask them to get started. For instance, my therapist has a monthly support group too... and that is on 15$ a session....and its crazy helpful.

Good to know there might be more options out there, thanks :)

  3. Mega 100, If you have insurance, you want to stay in network. When there is not a financial issue, it will be much easier to go as long as you need. I made inquires to a few different therapist. Don't settle for one that you are not comfortable with. I have talked to therapist in the past that made me feel worse about myself. That is not what anyone needs. I opted for a therapist that specialized in eating disorder and trauma. I also wanted a female as many of my issues are difficult to talk about in the first place. Good Luck

You're right. I think if there was a huge financial strain, it would really distract me and make me uncomfortable. I've known since I was very young that I needed therapy, but have ignored it bc I didn't want to deal with my issues. This opportunity has really made me want to focus on the positive experience and depression and compulsive eating is getting in the way.

  4. @@Mega_100 - during the prework for surgery, we had to meet with a therapist. From this list I found my therapist. I really feel you need someone who is aware of the surgery and its outcomes.

I agree, having someone familiar with eating issues and bariatric surgery would be ideal. I really liked the doc I went to pre-op for the psych eval, but she isn't in-network unfortunately and finances are definitely a factor.

  5. Another option to think about is going to Toronto Canada. I had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift, and Gummy bear implants for under 15000 cdn, $11000 us with the low Canadian dollar right now might be a good option. That included a year of follow up, but doesn't include hotel. As for recovery to avoid complications don't plan on moving on around very much for 2 weeks minimum. I am so happy with my results.

@@bdcsail, do you mind me asking who your surgeon was? Or do you have surgeon recommendations? I'm still quite a ways away from plastics, but thought I'd start researching and Toronto isn't that far from me. TIA!

  6. I told them I needed surgery (didn't say what) and took a week and a half off. I wish I would have taken a full 2 weeks or maybe even 3. I was just so tired and would have dizzy spells at work bc I wasn't concentrating on getting my fluids in. But you'll find that everyone will give you a different answer bc everyone recovers differently. Good luck!

  7. The only downside? The cost of shopping :P

Also, I used to have trouble finding my size on a rack. I'm finding that's still the case. What's the deal with the lack of smalls on a rack??

Lol, I think anyone can say that about any size anything. I literally just said that yesterday when I was looking for a large. Granted I was looking at athletic gear in January. Lol again
