  1. Has anyone ever had a day where the band just decides you're not eating that day??? For no particular reason, my band randomly tightens up where even yogurt is a struggle. Other days, I feel little restriction. I had a recent endo, so I know it's placement is fine. My band will tighten when I'm stressed or sick- and that I understand. But I haven't figured out these days where it decides- liquids only! Anyone else experience random restriction??

    Restart after pregnancy!

I agree! It is much harder!!! You cannot just go to the gym or take a walk whenever you want. Eating slowly is difficult when you have a little one crying. There are many more variables involved this time around.
  3. That is great news! Good luck with your surgery!

    Ready to quit.....

It's true! It is a difficult adjustment. Unfortunately, it's only a tool. It requires lifestyle changes, including menu changes. It took me a while to figure that out. I still have to work at eating healthy. The band just reminds me when I've fallen off track. I keep reminding myself that it is for my health in order to stay the course.

    Starting again.....time to reinvent!

Congrats on your reignited motivation and perseverance!!!! Good luck on your new journey!
  6. It is frustrating to have MyFitness Pal warning you to eat more. It flashes me the starvation mode message a lot. I wish there was a WLS app.
  7. I have band with plication. It's a little extra assurance and tool for weight loss. You're not only make a small pouch in the upper stomach with the band. You're also making a smaller lower stomach, which makes you full quicker. It was still experimental when I had the surgery, so the doctor did not bill the insurance for the additional procedure. I'm happy with my band/plication. Wishing you luck on your surgery!
  8. Took me 4-5 fills. My green zone is 6.25 CCs in a 10 CC band. It can be frustrating during the process. It took a lot of fluid before I felt any restriction.

    Protein Ideas?!?!?!

I put a scoop of Body Fortress Vanilla in my coffee as a creamer. It's an easy way for a coffee drinker to get their protein fix!

    Pizza

Stress and illness has a huge impact on my band as well. There are times at work when I can't even get down a Greek yogurt. I learned the trick of putting vanilla protein powder in my coffee when this happens to maintain my protein intake.

    Eating after first fill

It takes a lot for me to feel restriction. Everyone is different. 6.25 CCs is my green zone.

    Restart after pregnancy!

I too have restarted the journey after having my little guy 5 months ago. I had a very difficult pregnancy and ended up taking a lot of fluid out. I just had 2 CCs replaced yesterday, which is a large amount for a single fill. I begged them to consider this amount since I know I cannot get back to the doctor until November. I definitely feel the difference and need to relearn my banded lifestyle.

100 Miles in January 2013 Challenge

What an awesome idea!!! I'm in!
  14. I am not able to eat salad at all. No matter how much I chew, it just doesn't work out well for me.
  15. I have very good insurance, so they respond pretty quickly. My surgeon's requirements were extensive. It was like the medical clearance Olympics. I completed all the following in 5 weeks With a lot of running around: pulmonary Dr., upper endoscopy, psychological, nutritionist appt., cardiologist appt with EKG., ultrasound, blood work, attendance at a lap band support group, and follow-up with surgeon. All well worth it! Now I need to get pre-surgical testing from the hospital, final clearance from my primary doc and consent from surgeon within 1 wk of surgery.
