Hey Group, I am in a fresh relationship but it is difficult. I don't think its going to make it past tomorrow actually.. I am pre-sleeve and due to insurance changes, had to postpone my surgery date and pay for it myself. It has been quite depressing and I know that is affecting my relationship. I was never really ashamed of my body but for some reason, I don't feel "good enough". If plans change or are cancelled, I immediately think that he found someone better (slimmer). Anywhoo (my favorite non-existing word), my doors are always open if anyone wants to chat.

Hey, I am not sleeved yet but I will say that you should call your insurance company back and ask. My employer excluded all weight loss surgery as well as any complications from weight loss surgery..

Mexico is huge country. Some surgeons have their surgeries in Cancun, Puerto Villarta, and other tourist areas. I live in Atlanta, was raised in NY, and frequently visit Jamaica, so I know that violence exists everywhere and the media exploits this. I personally stuck with my surgeon in Tijuana regardless of the violence. I am not planning on going out unless I have to and its a short drive to cross the border. If there are 5-6 good surgeons that handles about 30-40 surgeries a month and I haven't heard one complaint about the violence in the 9 months I have been lurking the boards, then I am ok. Do your research. I would like to have my surgery in the US but the surgeons that I prefer to have are expensive. A loan is an option, but its not mine..

I chose Dr. Garcia.. I honestly didn't research Dr. Lopez but I looked at quite a few others. My date is 2/21/13.. 31, 5'10 314lbs

BCBS is funny - it really depends on the state you are in and whether your company decides to cut the cost of insurance for everyone by excluding all WLSs. There are options.. You may be able to get it done by the end of the year. The same thing happened to me last year - I scheduled my surgery for January 30th 2012 and my company was acquired last December. My new policy excluded all WLSs so I decided to postpone it until 2/21/2013 and pay for it myself. I hope things work out for you!

Wow a size 2-4? A size D cup would probably look porn-starish.. LOL Perky C's sounds good and more in line with your new size. And yes, bigger is definitely not always better.. We are all on here because of that..lol

I know testing is done prior to surgery at the hospital in Mexico, but did anyone (or is anyone planning) to have the same tests done that the US/insured sleevers have before going to Mexico? Because I haven't had a physical in a long time and my current PCP is not supportive, I am switching to another PCP and thought of possibly having some of the tests done.

Not being sleeved yet, I probably am the wrong person to answer but I personally like bigger breasts. I am a 44D pre-sleeve and wish I was a DD. Post surgery, I would go for a D cup because in high school, I was a C and it was too small for my liking.

I made my deposit today for 2/21/13. Now that it is done, I thought I would feel better but now I am really nervous. As far as you worried about your deposit, I have my reciept of deposit and their confirmation (and a copy because I am neurotic) for reference! 18 1/2 weeks to go! I hope this goes faster than I think it is.

If something happens to you after having surgery in Mexico, you can go to the hospital but most of us self pay patients have insurance policies that excludes weight loss surgery or any complications resulting from weight loss surgery. My opinion, if your insurance covers it and the out of pocket is similar to what you would pay in Mexico, I would still have the surgery in NYC. I would also try to choose a surgeon that has the BLIS insurance which protects you in case you have complications. If your out of pocket is that high (above the cost of surgery in Mexico and the airfare), then Mexico should be an option.

Hey GA Sleevers! I am looking for a PCP that is supportive of WLS. I live in Marietta but work in Sandy Springs. Since I am going to Mexico for my sleeve, I wanted to get checked out and possibly get the same testing that are normally done here in the states prior to surgery. Any help would be great.

I am getting mine done early next year ( End of February or beginning of March). I am using my tax return to have it done so I am thinking the end of March would better. I haven't picked a surgeon yet, but I will be doing that soon.

Hey @ change, I see that you live in GA. I started my process with Titus Duncan and love the support of their practice. I would suggest that you start the process asap so you can start with testing and the approval process.. When I first started, I was told immediately that I needed a 6 month diet - because a coworker had the surgery done there and they looked at her file. Good Luck!

Hey, I am pre-sleeve and an active lurker at times - but I just wanted to chime in... I was in a similar situation and hope that my posting helps. My ex, was my best friend - I met him when I was 15 and just had a baby (yes, I know). Even though he was 16 and not ready to be a father, we had a great friendship and he helped me with my son whenever he could. After 7 years of unsuccessful relationships, depression, and a 80lb weight gain - he asked me to give him a chance. We started dating and I loved it. My son already had a great relationship with him, this guy already knew everything about me and accepted my flaws, and I knew it was going to work out. Well, that was until we had sex- a YEAR later!!! It was awkward and I thought it was because he was like a brother to me for so long. We both figured that it would take time to adjust and dismissed it. Well, it didn't change. We were not sexually compatible at all! I decided to keep on and try cheating. Well, I did, and cried all the way home because he was a great guy and I didn't want to hurt him. I went alone to a sex therapist, asked successful wives for their bedroom secrets, toys, etc... It took me 5 years of efforts, cheating (didnt get caught), and regrets to finally move on. I moved away - from NY to GA and guess what? He followed me! Guess what else? We had awful make-up sex and I ended up pregnant!! Oh and guess what else? I accepted his proposal. Lastly, guess what? Nothing changed. I went through my pregnancy horrible because I was salivating at the site of another man. I left him again after my daughter was born (4 months away from the wedding date) and now we are cordial, but he is still hurting. I am too- because he treated me like a queen and I know it just can't work. I feel like I blew my blessing and that I was selfish. But I know I cannot go back and hurt him again despite the fact that my love life is empty and non-existant. Don't wait until November.. I know that is a lot of money, but stringing someone (especially someone in love) along for 6 months is devastating. Plus they may SNAP! Have you seen that show? ( Snapped?) Sorry for the length!

Trust me, I understand. Like I posted in other forums, I was initially approved for my surgery and then the company I worked for was acquired. Starting in January, we had to switch our plans to the new company's plan which totally excludes WLS. When I found this out, I already spent my tax return on paying bills off and a new car. I tore my achilles tendon in November and also recently developed heel spurs. I always had back pains from 2 different car accidents, knee pains, and a great loss of energy. I know this surgery is right for me, but at the same time - I have 2 children as well and we need to eat and the bills have to be paid!! In the meantime, I am taking water aerobics classes and building my upper body strenghth up to keep me from losing my mind. Well, I am not able to get approved for a loan at this moment and have decided to hold the money I have saved up and use my tax return in Jan/Feb 2013 for the surgery. I also have a co-signor that is willing to help, but think it would be easier on me financially to just pay it in full. Do you anticipate a decent size tax return? I think you would considering that you purchased a home and did heavy renovations.
