  1. Congrats! WIsh i was having mine in 2 weeks too! Good luck and wishing an 'uneventful' surgery.
  2. Holy cow! Some ppl just don't know when to keep their lips zipped. I hope you recover soon and are able to figure out what's the culprit. :001_tongue:
  3. Good idea! Thanks! :biggrin0:
  4. Thanks guys for the support! My husband get home tonight from a trip and since he's been gone all this came about. He'll never leave me for a week again...who knows what other things i come up with while he's not around. hehe it's been a week for me to get used to the thought of WLS... i'll need to figure out a way to broach the subject with him (he's never been fat and thinks i just need to exercise more to keep it off. simple for a man who just skips dinner 3 nights and can lose 10 lbs). ugh.. I'm glad i found this board!
  5. i have sleep apnea b/c i got fat.. was never like this before (husband said i never snored, snorted or gasped for air before).. Funny thing is I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and THAT'S the reason i have looked into WLS. Because I don't want to be on the CPAP machine forever (my sister has been for the last 5 years). If i don't think my weight already killed the romance in the bedroom, the stupid machine WILL. I'm secretly glad tho that i have it so hopefully (fingers crossed) I can get approved for the sleeve. God please help me! lol
  6. Before starting out on the 6mo journey just to find out you're NOT approved, is there anything that happens early on to indicate that you will/will not be approved if you complete all the required hoop-jumping? If i end up being denied after all the appts and such, i'd have to go the route of self-pay... maybe i should skip the process and self-pay now and be on my timeline. kwim? I've been in the queue w/my Dr all morning so i haven't been able to get this question answered... Thanks for any input! :001_cool: april
  7. Is it possible to have a website set up where you can refer inquiries to (like a journey blog) once it becomes NOTICEABLE that you're losing weight rather quickly? Just a thought since I'm not one to 'jump the gun' until I'm confident things are going as planned. lol Welcome to the board. I just joined as well. april
  8. Hello, My name is April and I stumbled upon this site after hearing about someone who had the VSG. I honestly never thought about WLS as an option for me (I have always hovered around a BMI between 30-35) , but the reality hit when i was recently diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Suddenly the list of comorbidities started piling up and I figured enough's enough. I have been heavy my whole life despite being active, who am I kidding? I need something beyond my own willpower to help me lose the weight once and for all. I am a nursing student...and even moreso I want the weight gone. How embarrassing to preach 'health' when i'm fat. I've been lurking for awhile, reading everyone's stories... and it inspires me to move forward. I will try the insurance route first, but have my Mx back-ups. I will not let this beat me! I'm excited to chat with you all more! april
  9. *added* What do the weights need to indicate? What if two are considered over a 35 BMI and one is about a 33 BMI? Do all the weights need to be 'within' their value (35+) ?? I moved 3000 miles just over a year ago, so don't have records from just one doc on weight history. I have something from my OB in Dec 08, Endocrinologist in June 09, and current PCP in Feb '10. Do you think just the face page copy of my visit indicating my weight is good enough for them? Thanks for your help! :biggrin2: april
  10. Thanks. I just hope it works out b/c I don't want to wait til June... argh! I'm such an impatient person when i make my mind up. haha
  11. If I have my druthers, I'd get the surgery on Dec 9th, 2 days after I'm out of finals. I return to school on Jan 3rd, and was wondering if you think that's adequate time to heal, granted it's an uncomplicated procedure (VSG). It's nursing school, so pretty stressful. What do you think? :lol0:
  12. Gotcha. Thanks!
  13. OH! How long is a soft diet recommended?
  14. I couldn't seem to find it anywhere... what happens to the staples left in your stomach? Do they go away at some time? Stay forever?
  15. Yippee! Thank You.... calling bright and early Mon am!
  16. Hello, I have Aetna as well. When i went to the general Aetna site, it says it covers RNY and lapband, but not VSG. Am i wrong?? I have Aetna PPO.
