FreeToBMe got a reaction from depressed_bandster in Pain on right side?
2 week post op today. They said the pulling is the ab muscles healing from the inner sutures where they closed the larger access points. The said they should settle down by 6 weeks but that I can return to my very physical job between 3-4 weeks post op. MD recommended I refrain from work closer to the 4 week time frame. Mine was a band to vsg revision, so there is a lot more to heal inside. I am having less burning stabbing now and more aching and alien cramp stuff going on in the muscles. They did recommend I back off to liquids for an additional 2 weeks to allow the sleeve to heal with a smoother thinner lining

FreeToBMe got a reaction from justbeingme J O S I E in Sharp pains in left side
My surgery was April 11, I only quit having the stabbing pains April 30. MD said it was from the sphincter stitches of the larger incisions through my ab muscles deep inside. I took my last Rx pain meds May 2. Now just aching in the 6 places they had to go in for my surgery. I can almost sit up now without pain

FreeToBMe got a reaction from castiel in Hair :(
Mine was coming out in clumps. The daily heartbreak was killing me. I was horrified at the handfuls of hair every time I brushed or showered. I had my head shaved bald last Sunday. My friend who did it for me took a clump of hair, pulled to check how bad it was....it ALL came out.
So I am getting free air conditioning for the summer, my hair will grow back when my body recovers from all the trauma and stabilizes. The forums seem to put Hair loss at 3-6 months. Mine did this in a big way at 3 weeks. I am gaining health and my beauty is not my hair

FreeToBMe reacted to LipstickLady in 'Surgery' cards... Notices to resturants that you've had bariatric surgery
Kids' menus are so icky and unhealthy for the most part. I plan on ordering from the appetizer menu and the sides or add-ons. If that isn't feasible, I will order my meal boxed, with a plate, and serve myself just the right sized portion, taking home the rest for later. With two kids, we usually take a cooler and ice packs in the car for doggie bags anyways, so...

I also have a card. I have not had a problem anywhere except TGI- FRIDAYS. They flat out refused to let me order from the kids menu, so my family and I left and will not be returning.

FreeToBMe reacted to KristyM in Those who had over heating and sweating issues prior to surgery chime in..
Yes, you will feel cold! Yippeeee!! I have sweated and overheated all my life, and I could not understand seeing normal sized people in sweaters in restaurants and all bundled up on cold days. They were in a scarf and sweater, and I was sweating with a short sleeved t-shirt on. But, I had my surgery on 12/26/12 and I haven't gotten warmed up yet. I do sweat when I exercise, but I can acutally walk around the mall and not stop to wipe sweat and not have to stop and sit down to cool off. If I do sweat occassionally now, it is a very small amount and not nearly as noticeable as before (my hair would literally be wringing wet and sweat rolling off my face just walking around a store). I know some folks wouldn't understand, but not sweating and being cold is one of the things I looked forward to happening to me after the weight came off. I am down 77 pounds and have 28 more to go, and the sweating has drastically decreased. So, look forward to a sweat free life, and be prepared to buy some sweaters and sweat shirts, Sista, because you are going to need them!! Best wishes!

FreeToBMe reacted to Aries in Difference between head hunger and true hunger?
I feel the emptiness too, but it never lasts. If I get stuck doing something and don't pay attention to it, it goes away until I'm sitting on the couch or driving in the car. It's more of an empty feeling than anything else. I don't even remember what hunger feels like

FreeToBMe reacted to Colemon70 in Pain on right side?
I'm 4 weeks out and my pain is on the left side. Pulling and ripping feeling when I sit, get up, or bend down. I spoke with my nurse today. She said its very normal and it the inner incisions. Today was a little better. She said by 6 weeks they should be healed up. I hope so!!

FreeToBMe reacted to Chris R in now that the weight is dropping off i feel like i could've done this myself
I am only 9 weeks out and am able to get at least 60 g of Protein in most days without doing any protein supplements. On the occasional off day, I make a fruit smoothie and add some unflavored Protein powder if I'm having trouble getting enough in.
My NUT told me it's better to eat your meals than drink them! Focus on high protein foods first, and you certainly will NOT have yo drink Protein shakes for the rest of your life.

FreeToBMe reacted to No game in now that the weight is dropping off i feel like i could've done this myself
Your nut sounds like a nut!
No really, I will always say listen to your doctor,
But after you are past the healing stage and on a totally normal diet. If you eat right you can meet your Protein goals with real food!
Now.... I'm 5 months out and still drink a shake for Breakfast but ONLY because I'm lazy and I like my shake

The shakes are necessary right now for nutrition and healing, but you do not have to have them for the rest of your life! I promise!

FreeToBMe reacted to Chris R in now that the weight is dropping off i feel like i could've done this myself
I have done it before myself - to a point! In the past, I've lost up to a total of 83 pounds at a stretch, before losing my motivation and gaining it all back, and then some. I've lost as much as 40 pounds in 8 weeks before, dieting on my own, but I could never keep it up for the long haul. I feel that this is the tool that's going to keep me going until I get where I need to be, and then help me stay there permanently!

FreeToBMe reacted to ISleevedIt in I have THREAD coming out of one of my incisions
Makes me think that if you pull on it, it'll unravel everything....lol....I know it's not true, but it was the first thought that came to mind. Hope that pesky thread of yours disappears soon, whether with assistance or naturally.
