Its Been Awhile... Update On Me
colleenjoy replied to Mama2girls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ugh! sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he recovers quickly and you can move forward. -
i totally understand feeling weird about getting rid of fat clothes. I never got rid of anything when I was growing out of them, hence I'm still shopping in my closet for smaller clothes. I realized I have some things that are 10-15 years old. However all my too big clothes are going away quickly, don't want to keep them around to grow back into someday. I highly recommend Goodwill for clothes during the weight loss. I have found some great things, some even new with tags still on them. You have to pick through a bunch of stuff, but you can get lucky with some great deals. Nothing more than $4 a piece, sometimes cheaper. I will just donate them back when they're too big.

If you aren't able to eat solid protein you may be too tight. Do you have a nutritionist you can talk to? Can you go in and see your dr?

I Broke The 4 Yay!!!
colleenjoy replied to Nayelli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job!! Meeting your goals is the best feeling. I'm doing a Happy Dance for you -
To be honest the first couple of days after surgery I thought I had made a mistake. I was in pain, could hardly eat or drink. I was miserable. That feeling passed quickly. I was feeling more normal week 2, and by week 4 I was back to 100%. Now just over 4 months post op I think it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I second Carolina Girl, I wish I had done this years ago.

I Need Some Encouragement
colleenjoy replied to tattoomommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
of course we second guess ourselves. I did so many times and unfortunately it wasn't until I was over 300 pounds that I finally stopped and realized I couldn't do it by myself. Just make sure you do your research and understand the good, the bad and the ugly about being banded. Good luck. -
oh no! Hope they figure out what's going on and you feel better soon!

this is a huge step, so feeling scared is normal. I've been banded for just over 4 months now and it's the best things i've ever done. There is a lot of learning to do, but as long as you try to stick to the rules your doctor gives you, you should be fine. I've had some problems, was a little tight with my last fill so threw up a couple of times. Went in for a very slight unfill, and problem solved. as for the hair loss, it started for me about months post op. I have soooo much hair to start with, so it's not noticeable to anyone, but I see the hair in the shower and on the brush. It's not for lack of Protein or Vitamins, I've done great with both. Unfortunately it's just a side effect I got. You might not, everyone is different.

oh no! Sorry to hear that. Hope you figure out what's going on soon and you feel better.

Should I See My Doctor?
colleenjoy replied to didixo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do you think you were following the "rules" while you were eating... small bites, slowly etc? If you were you may be too tight and need an unfill. With my second fill I threw up twice before I called my doc for an unfill. The first time I thought I was eating too fast, the second time I knew I was too tight. If you were eating too much, to quickly you may just need to go back to liquids/mushies for a couple of days to let your pouch calm down then restart solids. Of course it doesn't hurt to call your doctor's office and get their opinion. Better safe then sorry. Hope things get better for you soon. -
when I was in the liquid stage I had trouble getting calories in as well. I was worried, but my nutritionist said that was normal. Make sure you get your protein in though. I was told atleast 75 gm of protein. I used the Premier Protein Shakes, they're 30gm each. Good luck, it does get easier.

Harder And Harder
colleenjoy replied to wildrose1966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's hard, but I think you are doing what you need to do. Not everyone needs to know your business. Keep is simple though. Only a few people knew I was having surgery, the rest just thought I was taking a week off. When people asked what I did I told them I did stuff around the house. It's true, i was walking around the house a lot that week -
Great job! The run sounds like a lot of fun.
