March Challenge-Lucky to be Losing!
colleenjoy replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
forgot to check in last week, so I'll post both weeks now. Last week was 240.8 and this week is 239.4. So basically I'm back where I started this month. So tired of this stall! -
anyone here did/is doing the couch to 5k program?
colleenjoy replied to Lapbandster's topic in Fitness & Exercise
go at the pace you are comfortable, but try and push yourself as well. I'd rather "run" slowly for 20 minutes than try and run faster and only for for 5 minutes and feel like I'm going to die. My plan is to finish the program and be able to "run" for 30 minutes and then work on increasing my speed. At the 5ks I've done there's been a mix of true runners, slow joggers and walkers. Some people walk faster than I "run", but I also pass some people too. the first one I did the 1st place finisher was done shortly after I finished my first mile, but that didn't matter. I finished, that's what's important! -

I use an app called Ease into 5k from Bluefin. It was free and I really like it. I use my own music and it gives me cue when to run, when to walk. I like that it's idiot proof, meaning I don't have to keep track of how long I've been running or walking. Since it's free you might want to give it a shot. -

checking in this week at 240.8. UGH, up 1.4 pounds...really!?!?!?!?!? -
Goodwill has become my new best friend. I've gotten so many amazing deals there. some things are new with tags still on. I didn't want to waste money by buying new as I shrank, but when pants and tops are $5 or less it isn't a problem. When I out shrink my new smaller clothes I can donate them back to Goodwill.

did the 20 minute run!!!! was able to do the whole 20 minutes without stopping. Wasn't fast, and I'm sure it wasn't pretty, but I did it. Now onto 15 minute run, 3 min walk then another 10 minute run. Have done that twice so far. Will probably do that a few more times before I move onto Week 7. If I can do this, so can you!! -

I did W6D1, two nine minute "runs" with a 3 min walk in between. Such an amazing feeling. Up next is the dreaded 20 min "run". Not sure if I will be able to do all 20 minutes, but that's ok. I wasn't able to do the first 90 sec run without sucking some major wind. Look at me now. I will just keep trying until I can do it. -
such an inspiration, thanks for sharing!

I'm doing one. Next up for me is week 6 and the dreaded 20 minute run. I actually stared about 3 months ago, and have repeated a lot. I didn't move onto the next session until I could actually do the session I was on. I'm not talking about running fast, just jogging/wogging through the run parts. When I started I could harder do the 60 second run, now I'm doing 9 minutes without too much trouble. Amazing to see how far I've come. You can do it!! -
What have I done to myself?
colleenjoy replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
first couple of weeks was the worst!!! I thought the same, why did I do this to myself. It does get better. Best thing I ever did for myself. Good luck. -
Great job! It's the little things that make you realize how far you've come.

I am having issues with my band; advise please.
colleenjoy replied to sdpressl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band tighten up on me 3 weeks after a fill. Totally fine in the begining and all of a sudden started having trouble getting things down and horrible reflux. Had a tiny bit taken out .2cc i think and all was better. If you have trouble getting liquids down you should go to your dr ASAP. of it's trouble with solids, a couple of days of liquid may make it better. Although I think at least calling your dr now and getting their advice would be best. Colleen -
Newly Post Ops & Doubts
colleenjoy replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had the "what the hell have I done to myself" thoughts that first week. You're on an emotional roller coaster the first couple of weeks. Now 8 months out and 87 pounds down, I can say without a doubt it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. It hasn't been easy, I've pushed myself harder than I ever thought I could, but it's been an amazing journey! -
