  1. I started in February and just got approved on July 3. Next doctor's visit on July 25. I hope to have an early August surgery date. We all wait... But, it seems to be worth it at the end.
  2. Positive vibes and prayer for you! It will work out fine!
  3. Great job! Love the pictures! I wish everybody would do that!
  4. My nut told me about a great online program like WW called SparkPeople.com. It's very cool for tracking weight, food, and exercise. And it's free!
  5. I think they are essentially the same, but with different names. Mine is disability insurance that I have through my employer. It will pay my salary for any time off work due to surgery.
  6. I wondered about that too! The form was perforated so I assumed that meant I could give the Doc his side and my employer their side!
  7. Will the new Doc make you start over with the diet?
  8. I think the only thing you can really do to assist in getting approved is to try to do what they recommend. I had no faith that I would be approved but my nut assured me that I would be. She said I didn't gain weight and I did all of the required tests. In her office, she said she had never seen anyone denied who had done those things. Hey, I was approved!
  9. One of my male friends who had gastric bypass and has lost 230 lbs says that he will not date any woman that didn't pay attention to him when he was heavier! I think that's pretty mean!
  10. IMSKINNY replied to a post in a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The cost to practice medicine is cheaper in other countries because their malpractice costs are so much lower. I know that's one reason.
  11. I know how you feel, PD! I was okay as long as I was going through the process, but when things stopped and I had to wait for the doctor and wait for the insurance, it drove me crazy. If I had been turned down, I was going to Mexico. So, I used the time to focus on that process. Then, miraculously, I was approved by the insurer. Probably not a good plan for everybody, but that's what I did!
  12. I wasn't really scared of it all. I just thought I can lose on my own! After all, I had done it before, right?! I have lost 70 + lbs on my own. But, it all came back and then some. Finally, at 45 with menopause knocking at my door, the weight will not move. I finally have realized that I need help! I'm excited now! Do what we all did! Take the first step and go to the info session. Once I educated myself on the process, I felt so much more confident about my decision. I started this process in February. I was just approved for surgery on July 3.
  13. I wanted to post in this forum that I was approved by my insurance company because when I was looking for information on my insurer in Louisiana, I couldn't find any information on this site. I am a parish/state employee and we are self funded. The insurer or third party administrator is CCMSI or Cannon Cochran Management Services, Inc. I hope that if anyone starts searching in the future for information, they will find this post and know that it can be done!
  14. I'm no quite sure, but I do know at the time that I called, his office was offering a discounted price.

  16. Thanks for asking, Amostthere34! You're right! It is a good problem to have! But, in all honesty, I will only pay 900 out of pocket now that the procedure is covered. Even though my surgeon is out of my network, she has agreed to waive any difference in what the insurer pays and her fee. I can save the 8700 that I would self pay in MX for clothes and plastic surgery! But, believe me, if this hadn't worked out, I was going to MX! ...in a NY minute!!
  17. Thanks, helleva! You just got approved too, didn't you? Do you have a surgery date yet?
  18. Hey, guys, guess what? I was driving today (July 3) when my surgeon's office called and said I AM APPROVED for surgery!! OMG! I am so surprised! I had already made plans to go to MX after I spoke with the insurance company last week and they were soooo negative! I am still in shock!! Thanks to all of you for your advice and well wishes! And to everyone waiting on the insurance to respond, stay positive! It will happen!
  19. It will happen when you least expect it!
