  1. I had a friend tell me i should get the lap band b/c in the future i want kids, and wont be able to have kids with the sleeve. Which we all know is complete BS I educated her and now she wishes me luck. My boyfriend was/is supportive but has thrown in there- "I think you can just lose it on your own, you have before" ...i told him yes but...I gained it back. i need something permanent and I don't want to wait another 27 years to fix it. I want to fix myself and live my life the way i've never lived it. You don't HAVE to explain anything to anyone. But, if you want to.....tell them how you feel. Then do what you want you know what is right for YOU. Maybe your mom just isn't educated enough....try to tell her the process and show her the forum ...and some "after" shots of some of our fellow sleevers. Try to help her understand. I haven't told many people either....i will after ...maybe not sure if i want to announce it on FB but I will eventually tell people i just don't care to hear their opinions. I have my mind made up and the important people know. Everyone will be supportive when they see you all skinny and hot!! Good luck
  2. Good luck! I'm still pre op so i can't answer a lot of your questions. I've heard from people that don't exercise at all..have lost 100+ lbs and have no saggy skin. I've heard from others that exercise like crazy and have extra skin. I guess it just depends on your body. I'm going to do everything in my power to not have excess skin. I don't want to need skin removal surgery. As far as your baby, that is going to be hard. i heard about people that put a small pillow up their shirt so the kids don't hit the incisions. Your baby is very young so she wont understand . Maybe she'll understand Ouch or owie! I don't have kids but i have a pug and a lab. My pug loves to be on top of me always. I just purchased dog steps to put near my bed so i wont have to lift her. i plan on training her to use them for the next 2 months so she'll be ok and i wont have to lift her. so far so good! i also plan on using the pillow trick when i'm at home b/c my lab is very rough too. Maybe you can figure out a couple tricks to help you so you wont have to really lift her. Endoscopy-i don't have to do mine til the day before surgery so im not that far yet but everyone i talked to said you wont remember a thing, but might have a sore throat. Pain level-again, i'm not out that far, but i've been in contact with 2 girls from the forum that have been through it....last week my one friend had it she said the pain (the night of surgery) was a 3-6 depending on how you move. She said day 2 the pain decreased. last night when i spoke with her (3 days out) she said she was just sore. She also got her period so that of course doesnt help. She had problems with nausea and the meds were very expensive so she went to cvs and got a "seaband" its a bracelet for sea sickness, chemo nausea, etc....she said it works wonders. Good luck this forum is amazing to find answers. Ask and you shall recieve!!!

  4. I do home health care and one of my patients is a quadriplegic. His grandmom found this for him since all of his food had to be pureed. I never even thought that this would be good for us bariatric people!!! Good job!
  5. I was wondering the same thing. I'm traveling to myrtle beach for 12-14 days. I was going to treat my mom to a set of acrylics and a pedi (myself too) i asked the nurse at my dr's office she said good question....that would be one to ask the anesthesiologist. She said she would thinks its okay since the pulse ox machines are so sensitive now.I'll probably just wait til after the surgery.
  6. Hi all! I just wanted to send well wishes, happy thoughts and get skinny soon vibes to MEREDITH!! She had her surgery this morning!!!! Hope all went well !!!! <3
  7. Thanks for all the info guys! My biggest problem is.....well theres 2 ........1st my boyfriend. Yes, im responsible for my own self but he comes home with all these goodies and I eat them. But he brought them into the house!!!! and 2nd...my life is so crazy hectic that its easier, faster, and cheaper if i stop and get dollar menu fast food on my way from one job to the next. But, proudly I can say ...today I stopped at chik fil a and got a salad fat free dressing, un sweetened tea. and when i stopped at the store i wanted a snack so i got all natural veggie chips Hey, its a start !i'm not trying to lose 100 lbs by surgery. I'd just like to get back to the weight i was when i sent in my paperwork (10 lbs ago i think) I promise to not get addicted to the scale but i will be more conscious about whats going into my mouth. again thanks for the help you guys are amazing and I can't wait to be post op with you all !
  8. Yes thats right , I said it! I'm outraged at myself for gaining so much weight . I went from 272 last may to 232 last october. NOW, today....I'm 272 again. Back to my highest. I have been eating like a horse since i found out my surgery was scheduled and everything is a GO. Now, I'd like to lose 10 lbs before I start pre op. Does this sound stupid or logical? be honest , i love all of your honesty!!!!
  9. Thats a great approach!! I think thats jealously on their part so give them a taste of their own medicine!
  10. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what your going through. When the time is right you can reshedule. He would want you to do it for yourself. Thoughts and prayers coming your way <3

  12. Meredith, i was thinking that today. My mom and i are planning a trip to atlantis NEXT december. I told her I want to be in a bikini by then!!!! (hopeful thinking) ......... as far as myrtle beach area .. Here are some places you can go to keep busy: -the beach, of course -the boardwalk/promanade -tanger outlets (shopping!!) -festivals (http://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/PLAY/) -theres a place my mom found that is like a fishing place but theres an area and trail to walk around, i forget what its called , ill send the link later. and theres also a little village place that she found...ill also link that here later! As far as food goes...since you'll have dad and sis there with you...send them to go get food and you can hang out for a bit!!! My mom is coming the first half and my bf the second half....so they already know they're on their own for food i don't want to be anywhere around it!!!!!!! Theres plenty to do down there, i'm sure. Plenty of places to walk, or sit, or shop.
