Welcome Have fun on your cruise and let me know your date and ill change it for ya! I know it's got to stink getting another surgery but just look at THIS as your final weight loss surgery. I feel so bad for all the lap banders out there. I know a couple that it hasn't been successful for. I'm so glad I found the sleeve. I hope it works out better for you!
  2. Holy pickles, this is real!!! So, Upon attempting to get out of debt, I picked up another debt. I decided I wanted to be sleeved and got a 7,000 loan for Dr. washington. Right now, I'm doing very well financially. However, I'm working my booty off! (not literally, yet.) So I started a "fund". Thats what I call it: "THE FUND." The fund included: 1200 for septembers bills. (my surgery is in august, so those will already be paid. But taking off 2-3 weeks from work, I wanted to make sure there were no worries the following month.) 1000 for the surgery balance. (since i got a 7000 loan, and owed 1000 more) 400 Fun money (Will be shopping and getting pedi's ..ill be in myrtle beach for 2 weeks, i need SOMETHING to do!) 200 for gas. This financial goal I set a couple months back seemed SO FAR AWAY! but, i focused...worked my ass off and completed it!!!(UPON PAYING MY OTHER BILLS TOO!) I put the last 500 in today and almost cried! This is real. This is happening. I'm really doing this for me and I have the financial means to do so. It's no longer so far fetched! Dr. Washington, Here I come!!!!
  3. great post , congrats!
  4. WOW!!! so, you had a 6 month diet. Do you have to do a 1 or 2 weeks liquid diet or anything before your surgery besides the 6 month diet?? Congrats btw, you've done great!!!

I'm super excited that the time is flying by! I went yesterday and got a few comfy outfits since im going to the beach for my surgery. It's going to be hot. I'm having a party (a christmas in july, surprise birthday party ) for my best friend whos birthday is on christmas. It's going to be 3 days before my pre op starts! I'm almost to that "month til pre op diet" mark Hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch after you start your pre op diet's and we can be eachothers support systems! Please take a minute and hit the little rating star at the top of the thread! I'd like as many other august sleevers to see this as possible. Talk to you all soon PS, what is YOUR pre op diet? Mine is 2 weeks Protein shakes....and i believe sugar free Jello. my friend is having it and said her doc said she can eat whatever but has to drink Protein Shakes too (that doesnt make sense to me . ) Another friend on here had it for 3 days (protein shakes) and another person had shakes but could eat chicken and steak as well. His diet was basically the atkins induction phase.
  6. Yea pretty much lol. Ideally i'd like to do it every 8th of the month. but i know ill be doing it every wednesday...(videos) and ill be weighing myself every hour on the hour. OBSESSED!!!!!!!! lol
  7. Bury yourself in the forums. You'll get more support than you could even imagine! We're all here for you!
  8. Did you do the written appeal? I've seen some people have to write a letter to their insurance company and state all the points in which you SHOULD be approved for the surgery. I'm sure its some where in the forums. Also, maybe you can ask your doctor and see what he says? I have BCBS and i was all set up to have my first appt and orientation with my surgeon and then i decided let me call and just ask what criteria i have to hit with BCBS . I did, and their response was " We don't cover bariatric surgery" i left it at that and then called back a few days later and they gave me the same response. I asked if i could change my policy to one that did cover it and she told me no , we don't cover it. So i dont know what the deal was. at that point i started looking for other surgeons. Good luck to ya!
  9. Happy 6 month surgiversary you've done great, great post!
  10. So proud of you! Are you going to do weekly weigh ins on youtube? can't wait to see how much you lose this month.
  11. lol this is a great blog. and yes its stuck in my head, thanks alot!
  12. lol aw girl! I couldn't find your post so i looked under your profile and saw " I hate everybody" and i said to myself.....yup thats definitely got to be her post from today!!!! I think to some extent everyone feels that way before surgery. And, I know personally, since i found out i was having surgery i've been eating like a maniac b/c i know ill never ever be able to eat like this again. In return i've gained even more weight and i feel like a giant flabby blobber. I feel tired, and ....i hate everybody right now too my bf asked me if i wanted to do something fun this weekend like go to the jersey shore. i told him no i just want to lay in bed! i don't want to see people, i dont want to look at people and honestly i don't even want to WALK!!!! i'm feeling lady. I feel like i need a nap every day. Maybe this is you too? I know you needed these 2 days off. You needed some mental rest But tomorrow its back to the grind. Don't forget how much your paying for that damn resort hotel everything will be fine. We have an AMAZING doctor! HE has an amazing staff. Theres not a doubt in my mind that you, me, and all of our "crew" will be fine. I have all the faith in the world that this surgery will work for ALL of us. But, it is a tool. We have to learn to use that tool. And we will. Thats what effie (sp) is for. She will teach us. Someone wouldn't just hand you a circular saw and say "here go cut something"!!! We will learn and we're lucky enough to have awesome support on this forum. It's a godsend. AND....we have eachother!!!!!! I'm right behind you, sister!!! I will see you on August 4th and you'll already be down a ton of weight!!! RELAX!!! I will be there when your laying in front of the fridge crying. I promise!!! Love ya girl!

You definitely get used to it and it becomes kind of fun you should do it!! It's also great looking back and seeing the changes.
  17. yea i'm not sure. Thats one artical of many, you can google it. I was thinking...how the heck would they remove the stomach through the mouth.....without us choking to death? lol I imagine the stomach being pretty large since they're removing a large percentage of it. Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard of it. Not sure if the artical he saw was the sleeve or another procedure. ill have to see if he can find it for me later and ill read it and share.
  18. Hi sannah! it's just one of those things that you want to know but no one asks lol. Yes I do youtube. My channel link is in my signature. I used to do it for weight watchers. I started doing it for the sleeve but since i dont start my pre op diet for another month..theres not much to say but i will be youtubing EVERYTHING when i have my surgery enjoy! lol
  19. My boyfriend brought this to my attention today. He said it was on yahoo. Wasn't sure what kind of surgery it was, or what it was called so i just googled it and it said its the sleeve...... THROUGH THE MOUTH???? has anyone heard of this???? A new type of weight loss surgery was preformed at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. This new type of bariatric surgery removes a section of the patients stomach though their mouth. The bariatric procedure called sleeve gastrectomy, which is also known as gastric sleeve, sections off a part of the stomach and permanently removes up to 80 percent of the stomach. With bariatric surgeries, the stomach size is reduced which makes the patient eat less and feel fuller faster. A common approach doctors have been preforming the gastric sleeve procedure had the doctor make an incision in the stomach to remove the sectioned off stomach tissue. But with this new technique for bariatric surgery, the surgeon can remove the patients stomach tissue through their mouth. The patient, who had the surgery in August 2010, is reportedly recovering well. In the one-hour procedure, the surgeon employed a combination of techniques, including laparoscopic and natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery. Using the laparoscopic technique, the surgeon made five minimal incisions in the abdomen, through which cameras and other instruments were inserted, allowing the surgeon to divide the stomach into sections, and then close it with staples. Following the laparoscopic portion of the procedure, an endoscope was inserted into the stomach through the mouth, and the divided segment of the stomach was removed. The benefits to using the surgical method that allows surgeons to go through the mouth to remove the stomach sections, instead of through wide incisions are numerous. The approach causes less trauma to the abdomen region, lowers risks of developing a hernia and causes less post operative pain for the patient. At the Center for the Treatment of Obesity at the University of California San Diego, where the surgery was preformed, surgical options for minimally invasive bariatric surgery are evolving. In the future, the purpose of this type of bariatric surgery is to assist morbidly obese patients to achieve long term weight loss goals, leave few scars and involve as few surgical devices as possible.
