    Bowel Movements After Surgery.

I didn't at first but I'm almost a month out and it's getting worse. It's probably time for me to add some fiber to a shake or something.

    Failed Bander

I've never had lap band so I have no words of wisdom to offer you. But I can offer you my sincerest hopes that this all gets resolved for you soon. Best of luck to you!
  5. I love the unjury chicken soup. And I added the unflavored to cream of chicken soup once. I couldn't tell the difference.

    Mushy Food Shopping List

I said I wouldn't blend either but then realized that some things are hard to chew properly. For example, my husband just grilled some filet mignon, medium rare. I took a chunk of it and zapped it through my Ninja. Perfect!

    I Am Starving

I know what you're talking about! I was sleeved on the 7th and I'm in mushies now. About 2 hours after I eat I get really hungry. I tried ignoring it for an hour thinking it was all in my head, drank a bottle of water, but it just got worse! I don't understand. I was told I wouldn't feel hunger anymore. Someone lied.

    Frustrated!

My surgery was the 7th as well and I haven't lost much this past week. I'm guessing it's because I just re-introduced solid food into my diet and my body is adjusting once again.
  11. So help me out here, what am I doing wrong? I had a Protein shake for Breakfast (160 calories) and then had my doctor appointment where she cleared me for mushies. Ok fine, I go to the grocery store (I wanted everything!) but got a few things for today and tomorrow. I was hungry and thirsty when I got home, so I wanted something quick and easy so that I could hurry up and get to a point where I could drink again. I make 2 TBSPs of canned chicken with a touch of olive oil mayo and 2 TBSPs of avocado. I figured that was pretty mushy and I even mushed it up a lot more. I spent an hour chewing little bites and didn't even finish all of it. You know why? Because it was sitting in my chest. I can't possibly eat any slower and I can't possibly take smaller bites. But if every meal is going to feel like this, I'd rather just go back to eating Soup every day. Also, my meal was probably around 100 calories. By the end of today, I should consume about 520 calories. Are we really supposed to survive on that little bit of food? And how am I supposed to exercise and burn calories when I'm barely consuming any to begin with? I feel like I'm doing something wrong or I'm thinking about this wrong but god, I just can't seem to shake the feeling that I made a huge mistake.

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words

My pet peeve is people who use apostrophes for plurals. My pant's are too big. My clothe's don't fit. Drives me nut. But lately, I've started seeing apostrophes on words with "nt" in it. I wan't chocolate. My pan't's are too big. Now, with that being said, loose and lose are very hard for some people. My father is great at math but spelling is so difficult for him. Always has been. And I worked with a woman who used loose instead of lose in a document. I made a joke about it, thinking it was just a typo. She looked at me like I had stabbed her and said "are you making fun of me?" I felt so bad. I didn't realize she just had a hard time spelling. So, I try to cut people some slack.
  13. Ok, here's the dinner: one small meatball with a touch of tomato sauce and a few pieces of reduced fat shredded cheese, heated and Ninja'd (yes, I broke out the Ninja food processor). Plus I have a spinach and cheese stuffed mushroom, blended as well. Oh so delicious and I think it's sitting ok.
  14. I'm not married to canned chicken. It just seemed the quickest and easiest at the time. So I'll try something different for dinner, something softer, maybe a scrambled egg or something. I'm just so disappointed that my first meal was such a disaster. And it didn't even taste that good. If every meal is like this, I'm going to learn to hate food pretty quickly. Maybe that's the whole point. Thanks everyone. I'm just having a really bad, whining, crying hysterically, day.

    Post Op Day 10

I've had a really rough week of pain and gas. I've been having serious doubts as to whether this was a good idea or not. So of course, this morning I woke up in pain again. I downed my vitamins, and my Protonix, and my gas x, and hoped for the best. I also decided to put on a body shaper to hold in my stomach a little bit. It actually felt pretty good. So, I was out of protein shakes and I decided to re-up my membership at Costco and go get some Premier Protein. The place was packed and I had to walk all the way to the back to get a bag of chicken for my son, then all the way back up to the front for the protein shakes. I was starting to get tired. Finally I made it out and the gas pains were just killing me. But then I noticed on the way home that I really started burping...a lot. I got home, had a little bit of yogurt and all of a sudden, I realize I'm feeling so much better! I'm drinking my water and I'm feeling almost (almost) normal. I even lifted weights today, which I haven't felt like doing all week. It's funny how when I'm feeling my absolute worst and the idea of getting out and walking around seems insane to me, it really is the best thing for me. I'm thinking I may go out for another walk since it's so beautiful outside. So tomorrow morning when I wake up, and I feel horrible, I'm going to read this and force myself to go walk outside for a little while. It's got to do me some good.
  16. I wasn't given any restrictions but I restricted myself while I was on Vicodin. If you're on pain meds and you drive, you're driving while under the influence and can get in serious trouble. It's just like alcohol. So if you're off meds, you should be fine.

Ok, that sounds intriguing. I start pureed food next Wednesday. Of course, I've been obsessing over what I'm going to eat. I'll have to check out Blossom Foods and your blog!

2 Days Post Op- Worst Feeling Ever

I know it royally sucks. I'm 10 days post op and had a horrible week after having a fantastic day Monday. I was crying and wondering what I did to myself. Then today turned out to be another really good day. I may have a bad day tomorrow but I believe that I'm going to start having more good days than bad, it's just going to take time. You're fresh from surgery and life is going to be hard for a few days but then you'll have a good day. Then some more bad ones, then another good one. And before you know it, no more bad days. You'll make it. Just give it some time

I'm Having A Really Hard Time

I had a hard time too the first 2 days. But I knew that the point of the pre-op diet was to lose enough weight to lower complications during surgery and that was more important to me than a few bites of forbidden food. You must keep first and foremost in your mind at all times why you are doing this and it'll make it a lot easier. Also, space out your shakes and snacks every 2 hours or so. That really helped get me through the day.

Don't Walk, Run To Your Farmers' Market!

I've been to the farmer's market here once just to see what it was like. There were veggies there I had never seen before, couldn't name, and certainly couldn't cook if I had to. I'm anxious to go back this year and see what kind of goodies they have. But I'm not sure when I'll be able to eat them.

    Regrets?

I just had surgery on the 7th and I'm having serious regrets right now. I had a great day Monday (and even posted about it here, but said I could be in pain that night). Sure enough, I had the worst night ever. I've been in so much pain the last couple of days. My back hurts, which makes me hunch over, which makes my stomach hurt, so I try to straighten up. I can't sit, I can't lie down, I'm weak, I'm hungry, my stomach growls like never before. Everything is horrible and I don't know what to do about it. Drink more Water? It hurts. Suck on a popsicle? It hurts. And don't even get me started about wanted to actually EAT something. ~sigh~ Ok, rant over. I could just be stressed out because my husband is out of town and I feel all alone. I probably should just suck it up and get over it. Not like I can do anything about it now anyway.

    All Your Protein In?

IsoPure is already watery, like a fruit punch. And it's huge. It took 2 days for me to drink half of it. It also gave me horrible cotton mouth. However, some people here like it. Buy a bottle and try it yourself before buying too much. Another word of advice: the drinks you like the day before surgery might make you gag the day after. So don't buy too much. Buy some samples or just one or two of the item. I bought a big container of protein mix that I always drank at the gym but added splenda to it. When I tried it after surgery, it was too sweet even without the splenda. I can't drink it now. Total waste of money.
