  1. it might be that ur eating to quickly and missing that * feeling satisfied * sign and going right to being over full. when i just got my band.. i would often feel that pressue in my chest high abdomen area.. i think.. its just that heaviness resting on the band puttin pressure on the pouch.. then as the food starts working its way down out of the pouch.. down into the stomach cavity... u start feeling the relief. ( the 15 mins later feeling) my advice... eat slower.. stopping every now and then..to see if ur still hungry.. or if u just want to finish the plate.
  2. how do u feel today hun?

  4. well spoken well written well said.. i wish u nothing but luck success and happiness.. all good reasons why u wanna loose weight so im confident u will stick it thru. keep us posted.. and do urself a favour.. when u start readng abt something that went wrong with the band.. stop.. and look for a positive story. know the risks.. know the possibilities.. then let it go and focus on how much good is going to come out of ur decision.
  5. congrats to all of u guys.. ive been banded now for 6 months.. but i do know the pre op diet can be extremely brutal.. feel free to ask the rest of us questions and lean on us for support. trust me.. ud need it. my onli regret with finding this forum is that i found it post op.. o well.. lol.... good luck to all of u as u start ur new journey
  6. lol yes google does sometimes do more bad than good for ur sanity. it feels disgusting in ur chest and throat i know.. and u feel liek u have a nasty cold.. but ur good.. it will go away. hows ur recovery coming?
  7. mine was came the same day.. i was told that the blood thinner given prior to surgery causes it to come earlier than expected
  8. totally normal. the breathing tube that was in ur throat during surgery causes this.. it will go away in a few days.

  11. im told we're not supposed to use straws since it causes you to swallow to much air.. on my liquid diet i was allowed to have broth based soups.. with the Pasta and chicken and whole nine.. for lunch i mostly had the progresso low sodium soups.. i was also allowed to have half a piece of fruit.. such as an apple or banana as a snack. the liquid diet is meant to allow ur liver to shrink as ur liver in infront of ur stomach, shrinking it makes it easier for the surgeon to go around it... and allows better healing.
  12. lol.. i said that.. no more frikin shakes.. after i cud have mushies.. and now im 4 mths out and have cravings for shakes. lol funny aint it? as for the pain the night of sugery i was fine and dandy.. i even remember walking and being up and awake and alert.. day 3? another story... o the pain the pain the pain.. it was the one day i regret having surgery.. never did before... never have since then.... it will pass... about the cheeseburger.. dont try it again.. lol you dont wanna hurt urself more than ur helping urself.. uve come this far... bear it for a tiny bit longer..
  13. amp up the portein shakes with some oats.. ( not a whole lot) and fruits. my ultimate shake when i was on liquids.. consisted of blue berries, Protein powder, 2 teaspoons of oats, 3 oz of yogurt blended together in either crystal light, Vitamin Water zero, or low calorie gatorade. it doesnt taste liek a Protein Shake since it has the fruity flavour and i loved it.. because it snt just water.. it helps keep u fuller for longer. others things u can use are rasp berries straw berries, half a banana, carrots, black berries, low calories penut butter, really anything u like.. and blend..
  14. ur not doing anything wrong at all. ur full all the time cause ur still swollen. give urself time and u will see how hungry u feel in a few days when the swelling goes down. stick with the shakes and give urself lots of water to keep hydrated and maintain ur nutrition.. but ur not doing anything wrong at all.. what ur feeling is perfectly normal.

  16. i cudnt have said this better.. i recently went to a bbq and knowing that i wanted to eat.. and treat myself.. i did liquids the day of and the day after.. to balance myself and to eat without remorse or guilt. awesome advice the other thing i will say is that everything that u cud have eaten before u can find low calorie fat free diet sugar free soemthing... there is a substitute for everything. while i still try to consume and little substitutes as possible.. i still treat myself every once in a while.. i have low cal no sugar ice cream bars every once in a while ( but i have quarter of a bar..) not enuff to kill my calorie count, but enuff to satisfy the craving. i have a spoons ful of mashed potatoes if i want.. not loaded with butter and cheese though.. its all abt control the other thing i will say is that u have to give into the cravings,... u have to treat urself ... not always but soemtimes.. the one reason why alot of diets fail is because ppl feel to restrictied.. to deprived of things they want know and love.. whats life worth if u feel deprieved all the time? yes we want to loose weight but at the same time we want to b happy.. dont deprive urself.. dont restrict urself so much that all u do is think abt .. cookies.. once some one told me.. have a piece of chocolate. have a nice expensive piece, not the cheap grocery store kind.. and ud see that it fulfills that craving better.. with a smaller piece and less calories and junk.... .. try it.
  17. completely normal.. i gained post op. and susan soul is right.. my pa told me that the first 6 weeks after surgery is dedicated to restoring the body and healing.. ur not looking for weight loss during those 6 weeks.. the journey is slow and steady with bumps along the way.. relax and enjoy the ride.. dont over think it.. ( like i did) if u weight urself evry day u will loose ur m ind.. some days ur up some days ur down.. dont put urself thru that.
