  2. Good luck on your surgery! One of the best decisions I ever made.
  3. My first full was at 6 weeks. I have a 10cc band and had 5.4cc first fill and 1.2cc at my second fill
  4. Air? Should be only saline. I didn't get numbing medicine either. When I got my fill she found my port and put the needle in. I then sat up with the needle still in and took sips of water. When I took a sip I had a funny feeling in my throat and she timed from when i started to feel it to when it ended. I ended up with 5.2 cc fill. Question your doctor about the air. This is your body and just because he has MD behind his name doesn't mean he knows everything. Be your own advocate.
  5. Dint scrub the dermabond (glue) off! Im a nurse and we always tell out post op patients not to peel it off, as you will have minimal scaring.
  6. I had suffered for heartburn for the past couple years. My surgeon told me that, during surgery, she would look for a hiatel hernia and repair it. Well, low and behold I had quite a large one. It's repaired and no more heartburn!
  7. I just had my first fill 6 weeks after surgery. Second fill in 6 weeks, then after that I can do every 2 weeks if I need it. My doc does it this way to allow the stomach to heal and build up scar tissue to prevent any problems. They are aggressive with fills and go by how you are feeling. For a first fill I recieced 5.4cc in a 10cc band
  8. Well, had my first fill since my surgery on May 2. Happy to say I'm down 18 pounds. The past 10 days I noticed that I was feeling more hungry and able to eat more, so I'm happy that I didn't have a weight gain. As for the fill, it wasn't as bad as I thought. The PA found my port quickly and before I knew it the needle was in. What I was more worried about was standing up, with the needle in, so I could drink some water. I wasn't too sure what I would feel at first, but then it felt like a lump at the back of my throat. I told her when that feeling went away(which was fast) and she added more saline. We did it again, but it was too tight so she took some out. I have 5.4 cc's in a 10 cc band. Now just have to do the full liquids for 24hours then, mushies for 24 hours, then back to regular food. Next fill, July 26!
  9. What do banisters do, when you eat something spicy for your meal, but you can't drink and your mouth is on fire? Do you just avoid spicy things so you don't want a drink?
  10. Use it if you have it! I could tell a differnce in my lung capacity after surgery. I used it for over a week until I didn't have any pain when using it.
  11. Did you receive an incentive spirometer? That is a device that is used after surgery to " excerise" your lungs. I too was very gird and slept a lot the days after surgery. You sure got more fluids down than I did. Maybe the "slime" is more of phlegm. Try doing some coughing, that should bring up anything.
  12. The and best thing to do is leave them open to air to.heal. meaning,no bandages and no neosporin. Showering daily and pat dry.
  13. I am 6 days post op and my.back has been killing me!! I've been using and ice pack and it feels like it needs a good crack!
  14. Have 9 more days of full liquids! I am so ready for some mushies! Need something new!
  15. I was more scared about "popping " the sutures where the stomach is stitched over the band. Feel better know, but boy do I feel full. Liquids going down good. I think what made me feel so full and icky was the protein shake I had around 4pm. I didn't even drink it all, but I knew I needed to get some protein in. Congrats on e weight loss!
  16. Am 4 days post op, and had a bout of nausea. I had stomach gas pains, so I took some gas ex and use a heating pad. Tried a few sips of hot tea so I went to lay down. All of a sudden it was like a felt liquid moving in my stomach and I had the feeling like I was going to throw up. Thankfully I had some zofran and had my husband give me an IM injection.( had it from a dr friend that gave some to me about a year ago). What have others done for nausa in the post op time?
