Diamondeyed reacted to PdxMan in Calling all Vets....
Four weeks out, I was doing purees and cottage cheese. Some pudding on occassion, but that was it. I slowly pureed my Soups less and less. It just takes time. Some of us take more time for our swelling to go down. It will happen.

Diamondeyed reacted to enigmachik in Calling all Vets....
Everyone recovers at a different pace, but it's quite normal to still be swollen and have difficulties with soft foods at four weeks. You will likely experience a lot of improvement over the next several weeks, but you probably won't feel completely "normal" until close to three months post-op. Hang in there, the worst of it is already behind you.

Diamondeyed reacted to Ms.AntiBand in Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !
Everyone has their own feeling and strong opinions about who needs to know what about themselves. I didn't tell and don't plan on disclosing my personal issues with others. Just like I didn't tell others (even though very proud of him), I don't go around telling others about my husband vasectomy. Nor do I tell others about my surgery for a prolasped uterus due to (proudly), having 3 ten pound babies. I also didn't tell others about a wart I had removed from my butt when I was in jr high.. Oh and I don't tell people my front tooth is fake, due to a friend pushing my face into a Water fountain when I was in fourth grade. I'm not ashamed of anything I do or have. I just think its no ones business or for the fact... others probably don't give a $ H I T anyway!

Diamondeyed reacted to zenoosh in Mexico Octosleevers! Add Your Name, Date And Surgeon!
Hey there OCTOSLEEVERS! I had surgery Oct 27, and Im down about 35 lbs since day of surgery. I had a little stall at 5 weeks, but I've lost something every week. I TRY to weigh once a week only, but sometimes that doesn't quite happen.
Im very interested to see how everyone is doing...also, I find myfitnesspal.com to be incredibly helpful to track my cals/protein/vitamins etc...
Hope everyone is doing well!

Still haven't lost any in 10 days.... 3 weeks post op today! I read people say you're losing inches and in didn't think they were lying, just wrong about me... I had a pair of jeans I bought on clearance that were waaaay to small pre-op... I got them on tonight! I mean... I could wear them in public! LOL

Diamondeyed reacted to Decembersleever in is it gonna work?
Ok everyone. Repeat after me .... This will work!! Your stomach is swollen and you are still recovering from major surgery. I hit a stall at 3 weeks that lasted for two full weeks. Keep doing all the right stuff - get your Water in and do your best to get your Protein in Your body needs to play catch up . You will get there ... I promise! Some lose slow and some lose fast but EVERYONE loses Have faith

Diamondeyed reacted to LindaS in Vets, can you ear 1 taco or only a few bites?
I put the insides of a taco in a bowl and add a couple of tortilla chips broken up. I can eat about 3 to 4 ounces of this. It is mostly Protein. If I don't have a couple of chips, I will break up part of a hard taco shell that is about the same amount.

Diamondeyed reacted to newkat12 in Vets, can you ear 1 taco or only a few bites?
I'm not a vet by any means as I'm only 3 months post surgery, but i thought you might like this perspective as well. I had a hard shell taco from Taco Bell last week while I was out running errands and ate about 1/2. I might have been able to eat more, but that looked like about 3 ounces, which is what I'm supposed to eat each meal, so I just stopped. Knock on wood...but thus far I've not slimed or thrown up and I want to do everything in my power to keep it that way.

I drink one or two caffeine free diet cokes every day. I love them and enjoy them with no issues.

Diamondeyed reacted to NurseGrace in Vets, can you eat 1 taco or only a few bites?
Hmmm well, it depends on the taco but I can say that I can eat about half a standard taco (no rice) from chipotle. Thats the only kind I have tried but I would imagine I could probably do most of a regular taco bell taco.
I weighed a taco from chipotle once and if I remember correctly it was a little over 6 ounces - I did that because I was trying to decide how much of it I should sit down with and try to eat. 3-4oz is my standard serving so half was perfect.

Diamondeyed reacted to mikeross in Vets, can you eat 1 taco or only a few bites?
I am 7 weeks out and last week ate at taco bell... wife was craving it and we were in a time crunch. Anyways, I was able to eat the entire insides of a hard taco supreme and 3-4 bites of the shell. I think by 3-4 months out I will have no issues eating 1 entirely... maybe even closer to 2 tacos a year out.

Diamondeyed reacted to enigmachik in Vets, can you eat 1 taco or only a few bites?
I'm about 8 months out and I'm pretty sure I could eat a taco at this point. Honestly there are days that I can eat so much more in one sitting than I could early on that it freaks me out. I kind of miss the days of only a couple of bites because it was impossible to overindulge at that point. It's very easy to do it now. Enjoy your restriction now and use this time to really get a handle on any head hunger issues you might have because if you have them, I promise you they will rear their ugly heads again.
