This Friday- Jan 12th!! finally yay!

January 12th! Revision to sleeve from lapband. Had lapband removed oct 2016. So I’m basically starting the lifestyle all over again that I had done so great with for 5 years!! I am nervous!!

I’m with different employer company (government employer now before it was a private employer ) but same insurance company though it’s so aggravating!!

I had a successful lapband placed in 2012- I'm 5 foot 3 - I went from 230 to 145 lbs. I even went thru a pregnancy and only gained 15-20 lbs or so and instantly lost that after I had my baby. I loved my lapband. I only had about one or two fills. I wasn't a fan of the port but I lived with it. I never had any problems. About 10 months after I had my child I started having acid reflux problems and went into see the doctor oct 2016. He checked my band and stated that it needed to be removed immediately he thought it was eroded and wasn't sure.. So he removed it. We talked about revision to the sleeve. We removed it the next day. There was no erosion but there was some slippage. Then he told me to the heal and go thru the holidays and we would start the process of the revision process. So come Feb I went back in and we started the entire process with the test and insurance mess I have been thru all the appeals the peer to peer I have finally hired the lindstrom attorney. I am on my final appeal. I am sooo frustrated insurance keeps denying me (BCBSofNC) stating that I do not have the BMI. When clearly in my insurance it does not state that you have to have a high bmi for a REVISION!!! I mean I am not going to be over weight when I just had a successful Lapband REMOVED!!! Which clearly now I am back up to 200lbs ! and the attorneys are fighting that. Has anyone else had this problem? Why is insurance so stupid? They are seriously going against their own writing word they wrote. I wish I could have gone back to that day at the doctors office and asked more questions and also let them unfill and just see how it was instead of acted so quick. but the doctor made it sound so serious and I was so emotional to lose a tool that work and made my life so great! Now I have gained weight and depressed about it. and it has been a year and battling this stupid insurance company that can't get it thru their head - about a BMI for a revision after a lapband removal...

Congrats for Joining the bandsters! I was banded 7 Months ago. I've Lost almost 40lbs! Its Exciting and I don't have to much more to go.

I've lost 30 lbs since the end of may 2012.. In August I stopped losing (without any fill at all) and I haven't gained at all. In September I got my first fill. That first week I lost a pound but its been a month now and I haven't lost or gained anything. I can't eat too much and actually certain foods will get stuck. But i am eating slower and chewing a lot. From the way I used to eat my Quanity has been cut back so much i can't believe I am not losing anymore. Hopefully this next fill with help me. I don't want to get myself down in the dumps over it. How do you know when enough fills is enough?

Had my lap band done at the end of may 2012. I am getting my first fill today only because I have lost 30 lbs in 3 months at my last visit. But I have noticed my weight has levelled out and I haven't gained or lost. I'm nervous will this first full help me start losing again?

I was banded in may 2012 and I am getting my first fill today! I've lost 30 lbs but I've stopped and can tell in hungary and can eat more.

I am 5 foot 3 inches and was 227 lbs before surgery- I was on the border line of the lowest bmi- i had no health problems yet- the doctor thought I was a great canidate because I was over weight- but not too much.. it's been 2 months and I am down to 205lbs. -- It's amazing how that little weight can make someone feel so much different.. I think even Lower Bmi's are great for the surgery because you don't lose it too fast!

I had this pain too, dr said it was from the band irritating my diaphragm... I'm ok now it was just at beginning it hurt so bad I kept heating pad on it

Get your protein- I have those protein shots- and when I take those I noticed i'm not hungry as long as i'm getting my full protein i'm suppose to have- It makes it much better and with drinking my waters and such it helps..

I had pain at the bottom of my left chest/rib cage- but i'm a week and a half out and it has finally moved on- i've read it's from everything being stitched and where it's situated and the nerves it could be hitting and the gas altogether just causes pain-- Mine was whenever I inhaled it would hurt--- I used a heating pad for a couple of days.

I am on day 7 and I have a severe pain that is shooting thru my left shoulder that just started toniggt and the pains in my left chest has been uncomfortable from day one... What in the world is the pain in my shoulder from?? It's horrible and comes and goes

Have not been able to lay down or sleep in my bed I have been sleeping in my recliner. When I lay flat on my back I feel like something heavy is sitting on my stomach and when I lay on my side it hurts my stomach... Ugh I have to be on an incline.. I'm ready for this to be over so I can sleep back in my bed.. Banded last wed may 23

I start my second week this Wednesday but I went ahead and had cream of wheat yesterday and I was fine.... I was so sick of broth

I had mine done wednesday may 23rd, I'm already sick of the same liquids.

The pain meds help me be more moveable but when they wear off it is painful but I can tolerate I've been sleeping in recliner because getting up out of bed is killed because I have to use my stomach muscles too much

I can't feel my port either my stomach is more swollen on that side than the other though I had single incision and my belly button is sore sitting up and laying back is painful

Hey I'm 25 just got banded yesterday the 23rd how is everything going for you all I'm doing good for second day a little pain from gas that's still floating around ughhh

Yes- I brought up my insurance policy on the bcbsnc.com website and logged in with my information and this information was in my breakdown of codes and procedures that were covered and these were the specific requirements. No if you were under bmi40 and had 2 comorbids - you were eligible without the history.. But I also called the insurance company and dr.enochs insurance coordinator helped me.

My Doctor is Dr.Enochs and yes depends on your insurance company I have BCBSof NC- my insurance wanted 3 years previous with BMI of 40 or up- I had 2 years 40bmi and 1 year 38bmi... they denied the first time but Dr.enochs office sent in pictures of myself and explanation of why it would benefit my health in the future and they approved the second time. But it all depends on your insurance company and what they want.. Some insurance companies only want your current year bmi. Hope this helps and good luck!
