    Healthy Food Can Taste Good!

I just left the grocery store and was getting a little self-conscience about what was in my cart. I wouldn't let my hubby put anything "bad" in there. I want my kids to learn to love healthy options. I have always thought healthy food couldn't possibly be as good as that greasy deliciousness from the burger joints or the sweet stickiness of a fresh donut. Well, I was wrong. I am learning to absolutely LOVE fruit and veggies again. Since I have to get all that protein in and the fruit and veggies are "treats", I am looking at them in a new light. I live for my fruit daily. Any "real" sugar makes me sick. But natural sugars in fruit and veggies I have had no problems with. Also, I picked up the sesame WASA crackers today and put some lite laughing cow garden cream cheese on them. Talk about DELICIOUS! My husband loved them! I feel guilty giving my kids tons of carbs now and find myself giving them cheese and fruit for a snack instead of a granola bar or a fruit snack. I am just feeling really, really great about my new life with my sleeve, and so thankful!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I have lost 22 pounds and am at a TOTAL stall. I haven't lost anything since my appointment last Wednesday. UGH! Is this normal? I am on a lot of regular foods now but only eating about 600-700 calories a day.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

So....I have figured out that I can't drink the protein shakes. They make me sick. I have tried MANY brands. I had diarrhea so bad the first 2 weeks post-op that my surgeon put me on semi-solid after a week and a half. It has certainly helped. Today was the first day I have gotten all of my protein requirements in! Yay me! Being able to have canned tuna and hard boiled eggs is SUCH a help. I had one slice of toasted wheat bread with tuna (tuna, lite mayo, mustard and dill relish) today as a sandwich and was in HEAVEN. I got about 75% in and couldn't stomach any more. It is so funny to me how much I can (can't) eat now. I haven't been walking as much as I should. I am starting to hit the treadmill tomorrow though. Has anyone else been incredibly tired? I have been exhausted!! I am trying my darndest to get my water in. OH-has anyone tried the Mio drink enhancer? It is SO yummy!! You can put as much or as little in your water as you want. That is good for me because since surgery I don't like really sweet drinks. How is everyone else doing?

I will try those shakes! Thanks! I am not a big strawberry drink person. But I will give the chocolate ones a try.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to tell all of you that are waiting to be sleeved, good luck! I am one week out and have been having a few minor issues. Everything that goes in comes out, not vomit if you catch my drift. I called my doctor today and he said he wants me to start with the mushies (scrambled eggs and cootage cheese and such) on Saturday instead of waiting. He thinks it is from being on the liquids too long. I never thought I would be SO excited about eating eggs and cottage cheese. LOL! The pain is getting MUCH better and easier to handle. I haven't taken anything for it in about three days. I am having a HUGE issue with trying to get protein in. I just can't stomach the drinks! YUCK!
  9. Thanks for the replies!! I am glad to know I am not alone with it. I thought I knew what all to expect but I guess there is a lot to learn! I did just try a little tomato Soup and it went RIGHT through me.....I think I am going to take your advice and try to go with lactose free stuff for a couple days!!!
  10. I had my surgery last Wednesday. My surgeon said I can start full liquids now. It just seems like every single thing that goes in comes out within about 10 minutes. Is this normal?? Sorry that this is TMI for some people!!! I have also been getting lightheaded. I was thinking that is just because the lack of protein the first few days??

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Well, I am 4 days since my sleeve. The gas is AWFUL! I have only been able to get in about 40-48 ounces but the nurse and the other support group people here said it's fine but keep trying. If my urine starts getting dark or something to go in and get IV fluid. I think it has been going pretty well. Last night I was in pain so I took some of the Lortab elixer. But during the day I don't need it. I just need the gasx strips. Other than that, things have been going okay. My family still needs to eat and everything looks and smells delightful. But I know I can't eat it and I really don't even want to eat it. I just like the smells.
  12. I was sent home with liquid lortab and it is so nasty that I would rather hurt!! The pain isn't unbearable anymore and I am only three days out from surgery. The walking helps me to get gas out and gas-x strips.
