  1. Sweetsusie I had to tell you - I did a face time session with Dr. Alvarez and he was awesome and so nice! I needed a surgeon closer to me (I didn't want to have to fly) so I chose Dr. Kelly (and love him) but I really liked Dr. A too! He took time out to talk to me for 5 minutes even though he knew I wasn't gonna be his patient. You just can't get care and service like that here in the U.S. You're in GREAT hands!!!
  2. Boots, I am right there with you!!! This past weekend was glorious in terms of eating crap. I ate too much stuff but was planning for it. I don't have a hard core pre-op diet at all - just eat "healthier" for 2 weeks, try to start developing some habits like taking my Vitamins, etc and eating a little less. Then I have a 3 day liquids only pre-op. So yeah I ate too much this past weekend too! Best of luck on your surgery!!!!
  3. I would agree with everyone! These doctors work hard at providing us with a good experience. I don't think you can go wrong as long as your wants and needs are met, and all your questions answered! Good luck!
  4. I am a low BMI with zero comorbidities, so I can't be approved by insurance. I was gonna self pay here in the states but when I started researching it, I liked Dr Kelly. My insurance covers NOTHING so he will be doing all of my care!
  5. I haven't been yet! But I'm scheduled for June 14 with Dr Kelly! Do you have their other contact info? You can email Omar at: wls-clinic@hotmail.com He'll get back to you quickly!
  6. Sending a LOT of positive vibes your way Reese!! You're gonna do great!
  7. Wow I just caught up on this thread - so many Dr. Kelly patients!!! I am 2 weeks away from surgery with him and SO nervous and excited! So I'm SO glad to read so many good reviews! We should just name this the Dr. Kelly thread! Question: someone on here said they recommend a silky nightgown to wear. What did ya'll do? Did you just use the gowns they give you or did you bring something to wear? I also saw in some pics that you had on hospital slippers - should I bring flip flops or not worry about it? I'm from So CA so I'm actually just driving to San Diego and packing very light - but wondering about clothing.
  8. Reese you are going to do GREAT!!!! Congratulations!
  9. Loved it! Thumbs up! And the vagina comments were great!
  10. Can you take benefiber? Sometimes fiber helps with diarrhea. I'm still pre op tho so I haven't experienced this lovely side effect yet!
  11. Good god where did you have this done? Can you get a second opinion? How do these strictures occur??
  12. I agree with Sherlee. I am going to Dr Kelly on June 14 and am very excited. He quit working with the brokers/coordinators for many reasons. He doesn't advertise on here either and is 100% word of mouth. If you haven't talked to him or Omar, I'd suggest starting there. That's ultimately what sold me... My interaction with him and his team! It wasn't about money at all for me! And I still picked him. I didn't know that Sherlee's own doc checked Dr Kelly out but that just adds more confidence to my decision! Good luck!!
  13. There are some protein shots that are not dairy. Carnivor from GNC are beef protein isolates. I honestly don't know how good or healthy they are, but it might be a substitute for you??
  14. Scubadottie, I'm a diver too!!!! And I am looking forward to diving much easier than I do now! And wearing my old wetsuit... And wearing less weight!!!! Yeah!
  15. I think the reason they ask these questions is to get a history of your obesity. I didn't remember what I weighed but I was a skinny kid. I got fat in my twenties. Do the best you can, they will help you.
  16. A Lighter Me still uses his name and I think that is so wrong. I wouldn't use them just out of principle, even if I hadn't chosen Dr. Kelly. That kind of stuff just annoys me to no end!
  17. Thinmymind - NO! These coordinators get your info and then punt you to another doctor. Dr. Kelly does not work with these other places. You can contact him directly at: wls-clinic@hotmail.com Or call Omar at 619-395-5347 (or text him) I swear some of these coordinators are predators!! It really frustrates me. Dr. Kelly is working hard to get his facebook page going, their website moving, etc etc. But he isn't working with the coordinators/companies any more and is doing quite well. Write or call them and they will get back to you very quickly!!!!! Let me know what happens!
  18. So glad you are doing well!!! It's gonna get better quickly from what everyone else says... hang in there!!
  19. Actually that's not true - I take a fantastic psyllium fiber now and I get well over 25 grams with it with a spoonful. Psyllium fiber is fantastic for you. The problem is that I'm used to it and it's an 8 oz glass of Water mixed with it - which I won't be able to do after surgery. BUT - I also like the Paleo diet and I know berries are good for you... it will just be a while before I can eat those. (and believe me that is ON my radar after surgery!!!) I've read that since you eat so much less after the sleeve surgery that you do not necessarily need to have a BM every day. Do you guys find this to be true?
  20. How much flax seed can you take? Does it work? I've never used it.
  21. I'm glad I came across this thread... I posted something on psyllium fiber a while back and no one replied.... does anyone know if we can take psyllium post op? I mean, eventually? I do this now (I am pre op) and it makes a huge difference in my health. I'd like to keep doing it after I have surgery but unsure about it. Anybody have any input?
  22. Fun videos! But I have to say that it really bothers me that the doctors didn't have their face masks over their noses.... ??? Oh well, at least you are doing well!! I forgot to ask.. How is your back?? Better since you're home??
