Does he use those leg pumps on your calves to prevent blood clots? Does he give you blood thinner? I'm concerned about getting a clot when asleep and all I saw in the paperwork was instructions to move your feet around. Thanks.

This was his response: Yes we use both. Leg pump in the OR and low molecular weight heparin like Levonox. :-)

Great. I had my leg pumps the whole time I was in the hospital and I am hoping she can keep hers even out of the OR. They gave me heparin shots every 6 hours or so the entire time I was in there too. I hope its the same for her. thanks!

I was there too in Houston! He made me feel so at ease, totally made my decision so much easier afterwards. When I finally save up the money I definitely want him as my surgeon! (I was with my parents and hubby- my dad was the biker who kept cutting up)

Sweetsusie I had to tell you - I did a face time session with Dr. Alvarez and he was awesome and so nice! I needed a surgeon closer to me (I didn't want to have to fly) so I chose Dr. Kelly (and love him) but I really liked Dr. A too! He took time out to talk to me for 5 minutes even though he knew I wasn't gonna be his patient. You just can't get care and service like that here in the U.S. You're in GREAT hands!!!

Oh I love Dr. Kelly and his team! My top 3 picks were Dr. Kelly, Dr. Aceves and Dr. Alvarez! I narrowed it down to Dr. Kelly for several reasons but I liked all of those doctors!
