  1. I need to know my options as well...let me know what u find out on this...
  2. Hello!! I have Dr Dean at the same clinic..having surgery May 8th...u have yours yet?
  3. I am sure she would have!! I hate hearing people say "why can't you just lose the weight on your own".... I want to say...for the same reason X wants you to understand his sex addiction...why he can't stop. Why so and so can't stop throwing up to stay skinny...or why her over there has to take meds to stay off heroin...but we feel sorry for those people. Reach out to be supportive and do what we can to support them...but people that become obese get the stank eye instead...LOL I am lucky to have a great support system. The ones that asked that question easily became convinced of why its important to me. And I feel sorry for others who don't have it so easy as I do...makes me sick!!
  4. I believe I have been sinning with food. Gluttony (sp)...and surgery will help me not to do that anymore. God would want that. Just like he would want an alcoholic to do whatever it takes not to drink including rehab. You know what I mean? I decided at the start of this process that if God wanted me to do this, doors would open easily. And they have. So, I believe this is what God wants. Even when I get scared sometimes...
  5. Lizzy I had the same test. You are right about the procedure. The stuff you drink is chalky and kinda gross but not invasive...let us know!
  6. I have acid reflux and take prevacid almost every day. My surgeon talked me out of lap band and recommended the sleeve due to the reflux as well as other reasons. He said the sleeve was easier on the reflux and the lap band would aggravate it significantly. I would get a second opinion...
  7. @DC...that's not a dumb question...LOL. I called the 1 800 number on the back of my card. The one we use for any questions we have...the customer service rep will help you or transfer you to someone that will....
  8. I will have to give the hosp 3294 up front before surgery May 8th. 3000 being my out of pocket max and 294 is what's left of my deductible...
  9. I have generalized anxiety disorder. I have been on LOTS of different anti depressants over the years because of it and every single one made me gain weight except the one I switched to back in December. Its Celexa...only the generic brand. The issue with this one is fatigue which was pretty bad the first couple mths. Now its manageable. I found out after the fact that I could have talked to my doc to have the dosage reduced because of the fatigue which I still may have to do after surgery if it becomes an issue. But weight gain hasn't been an issue. Just feeling tired sometimes.
  10. @Jocy...call the insurance comp. Just politely ask if they got your paperwork and everything they need and if there is a status update....I did...I don't have Aetna. But I called BCBS every single day sometimes two or three times a day...the squeeky wheel gets the grease!!!
  11. I was submitted last Thurs and I called the ins company Monday to check status and got a verbal approval. I let my surgeons offc know and they called to verify..
  12. Congrats...I just got approved yesterday!
  13. I took my 4 yr old to the surgeons offc with me on one of my quick Appts...this put him at ease just to see how nice the doc and his staff were. He sat there as the doc told me what gastric sleeve surgery was and hasn't cried a bit since..I think new is just scary to kids...and I wouldn't take ur kids if the doc doesn't have a friendly bedside manner. My surgeon actually encouraged me to bring friends and family to appts with me...
  14. @Brandy...not sure if u were asking me or not but I haven't had surgery yet. Just got approved yesterday, will have a date in the next couple days. Its Dr Dean at Southeast TX Bariatric...
  15. I am close to Houston in Beaumont TX. Just got approved today. I will be scheduled for early May...
  16. I got approved today!!! Now to set a date...
  17. I haven't but I will! They do have one of those here thank goodness!
  18. Ask your surgeon or staff about his or her success rate and how many leakage issues they have had. I did and it put my mind at ease. Complications are rare but do happen. Any fears you have, its best to talk to your surgeon. He or she should have answers that will help you. I just got approved today myself! Good luck to you!!
  19. Is there anywhere else besides Nordstrom that does these awesome fittings? The last time I was fitted it was at Lane Bryant and NONE of the bras fit right and unfortunately, we don't have a Nordstrom here!!! BOOOOO!!
  20. I haven't crossed this bridge yet but I am told my hospital will require something down and make arrangements on the rest. If that isn't the case, I won't be able to have the surgery very soon either. I really hope you find a way to make it happen!!
  21. Mines not even scheduled yet...awaiting approval as we type!!
  22. Uh huh...I am annoying everybody here too!!!
