Ugh, Unjury Tastes Like Butt!
I'll try it but I'm not sure I'd be able to get past the smell!

Ugh, Unjury Tastes Like Butt!
The GNC brand was good mixed with the flavored drink mixes. I guess I can deal with the gritty stuff at the bottom. It's better than almost throwing up trying to make myself drink the Unjury. Luckily, their website says the have a 100% satisfaction guarantee so I've emailed them and asked for my money back.

Ugh, Unjury Tastes Like Butt!
I've been mixing the GNC brand of unflavored protein powder with water and those little packets of sugar free flavoring. It tastes great! But the little crystals of protein mix left at the bottom, not so great. I read somewhere on here that the Unjury mixes the best so I bought some. Omg, after being mixed it smells like rotten meat and tastes just as bad. What is everyone else mixing it in to overpower that awful taste? I'd hate to have wasted my money

10 Days To Surgery Getting Excared (Excited/scared)
Well, I'm only a month out but I've never been happier! I've already gone down 1 pant size and I have had a lot more energy. The surgery itself sucked as well as the first week afterward but that discomfort was a small price to pay to feel and look great for many, many years to come. Try not to stress too much, save that energy for after surgery! I hope everything goes well. Good luck!

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
Thank you LoserMama! I'll def look that book up. Yes, the liquid diet WAS very hard! I have progressed to soft solids so the only thing I ate that I shouldn't have was the french fries because they were fried and the sugary sweets. It doesn't justify it but I wanted to see if I would have a problem with the sugar. I haven't dumped on anything and I know some people do and some people don't. That's what I meant by testing myself to see what I can have. I should have been more clear.

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
Thanks Sleeved&Hopeful. I know that deprivation feeling was what always ruined every diet I've tried in the past. But this isn't a diet, this is a lifestyle change. I've gotta remember that. The month of liquid diet has been a killer. I guess I've had that deprivation feeling again.

Texan Needing A Vsg Buddy
I was wondering the same thing going into my psych eval. Really, what they're looking for is that you have the mental capacity to understand that you're having surgery and you'll need to make life style changes because of it. They also like to see that you have a good support system of family and friends. Mine was a pretty simple, pleasant conversation. I told her the medical and non medical reasons I was considering surgery and talked a little about my family. I was approved and had my surgery a month ago today! Good luck to you, let me know how it goes

What's For Lunch?

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
I haven't dared try crackers or anything crunchy like that yet. Well, aside from the fries which were the crinkle kind and were cut thick so they were soft.

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
Oh no, no rice. I'm not going to attempt rice or bread any time soon. It may be hard to believe but I do have some sense!

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
With the size of my sleeve I can eat between 3 and 4 oz comfortably. I didn't eat a whole lot of any 1 thing but I did over do it by eating the things I shouldn't. This was at a family gathering. I would be doing a lot worse if I had these kind of foods at home! The sugar free pie was in lieu of birthday cake at my insistence. Some family members weren't thrilled about it but hey, it's my birthday so get over it!!! Seriously, if it weren't for food I don't think my family would ever get together. I'm sure that's partially the reason I have the weight problems that I do. I know that I can't make them eat healthier but I can request healthier choices be made available for me. Now...if I could just stick to those healthier choices! Ugh

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
I am making sure that I chew pretty thoroughly. My doctor made my sleeve bigger than average and I have been tolerating soft solids very well since about week 2. But I do know I def should not have had the french fries!

I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!
I've been testing my limits to see what I can eat. So far I have had no problems with any food. So what do I do yesterday? I have some Gumbo, deviled eggs, potato salad, a slice of sugar free chocolate pie and a not so sugar free cheesecake brownie bar. This was all one meal! The only reaction I had was what felt like a good buzz after not smoking in a while. I'm assuming that was from the sugar in the brownie bar. Then later in the evening when everyone went out after my daughter's basketball game I ate the meat and cheese off of a Jr sized burger and a handful of fries just because they were in front of me. Finally my stomach started to feel full but not before I busted my calorie allowance for the day! I'm wondering why I can eat everything I can and why I'm not having problems with sugar. Maybe I didn't have as much as I thought or powdered sugar is less potent than cane sugar? Either way, I need to slow down. I don't want to fall back into old habits!

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...
Thanks clk. I can def get in more liquid than say eggs, chicken or fish but I'm still able to eat 3 to 4oz of that stuff. We went to Movie Tavern and I ate a whole skewer or shrimp, a skewer of chicken and the veggies. It's helping me get my protein and nutrients in, that's for sure. I am thankful I can get more down just for that simple fact since I see so many struggling to get in the amount of protein and liquids that they should.

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...
Thanks Thomas! I was wondering if I was the only one. How has your weight loss been? How has it progressed as opposed to others who have a 'normal' sized sleeve? I have been slightly worried I may not lose as much or I may lose at a slower rate seeing as I can eat more. Does that even make any sense though? I can eat more than others who have been sleeved but still, I am only eating up to 4 oz when my stomach used to hold 4+ cups!

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...
It holding more food is worrisome to me. I certainly didn't ask the dr. to make it bigger! Sure, I guess it will be helpful in the long term as in I will be able to eat more like a normal person but eating more usually = weighing more Ugh, once this weight comes off I am def going to have to focus on continuing to eat right and exercise!

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...
Being only a month out I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find much I could eat in a social situation. I am surprised how well my sleeve is tolerating everything I have attempted to eat. I'm still supposed to be doing mushies but I've been able to eat shrimp, chicken and even some ground beef, all chewed very thoroughly. This brings me to another thought...while in the hospital after surgery my doc tells me he made my sleeve bigger than he normally does because I don't have a lot of weight to lose. I wonder if that is why my sleeve is able to tolerate what it has. That is certainly the reason I can eat 3 to 4 ounces with no problems. Hopefully I will continue to lose weight with this 'bigger' sleeve!

No Motivation For 6 Month Sup. Diet
I absolutely had the same problem! I didn't buckle down until about month 4. The thing that helped me the most was replacing one meal a day with a protein shake and trying to make the other meals as healthy as possible. I didn't lose very much, like 11 pounds but I got my approval. Do what you can and try not to have any gains. You don't have a set amount to lose, just do not gain anything. That's what my doctor's office told me. Try to get in the mindset of being healthy and looking and feeling better. You def will after your sleeve! I am less than a month out and I feel terrific! I hope everything works out for you. Let me know how it goes.

First Meal Where My Stomach Has Felt Normal!
For me I think it is the acid controlling meds that are helping. I have been taking my pill at different times and with different food or drink for the past couple of days and I can tell the difference in the way my stomach feels and sounds. Maybe I need to take it twice a day and I can avoid the discomfort and sounds all together. I think I'll call the doctor and get his opinion!
