  1. Had my surgery yesterday and also had a hernia repaired. I had some pretty bad back pain last night, I'm guessing from the gas, but today I feel really good. I'm so glad my road to becoming more healthy has begun.
  2. Congrats!!!!! Isn't that the best feeling.
  3. I had my pre-op on May 29th, and asked about coffee and caffiene and was told I could drink it both pre-op and post-op. Of course, as with everything, in moderation.
  4. Wow, my experience has been wonderful so far. I'm not banded yet, but once I knew I had ins approval and a date scheduled, I told everyone that I work closely with. That means that more than likely, my whole office knows. I have gotten bunches of supportive emails and while I'm on my pre-op diet, they are even trying to not schedule meetings that go through lunch so I don't have to see all of the catered stuff. Of course, I am extremely lucky to work for a company of about 80+ employees and we still manage to have a "family" type atmosphere.
  5. Thanks you guys, and yes I have several friends who would gladly stay with me while me husband is at work. I just hated to ask if I am going to be resting most of the time. But I will get someone to come over during the day.
  6. I am being banded on the 18th at 12pm. My husband is taking me, but he has a really important meeting the next day so he will not be able to stay home with me the day after. When the surgery center called me with my date and time, she said I needed someone to drive me home, but also to stay with me for the next 48 hours. My son is almost 13 and has actually offered to stay home that day. Do you guys think that would be okay? Do I just need someone around that could call for help? Please let me know what you think.
  7. My husband's experience has been really good. He lost approximately 125lbs. He could lose about 25 more, but to be honest, he doesn't eat a lot, but he has fallen into not making smart choices. So, he hasn't gained any weight, but he hasn't lost that last 25 either. He has promised me that once I am banded, he will support me by eating what I eat and together we will make smart choices. One other issue that my husband has had is he has a bad back. His bulging disks have gotten much better, and his energy levels are way up, but he does still have knee issues (from football 35+ years ago) that don't allow him to exercise like he would like. He hasn't had a fill in over a year and is extremely happy where he is. I am hoping for that type of success as well.
  8. My surgery is the 18th. I started my preop yesterday. Supposed to be Phase I of South Beach, I almost wish I was doing the liquid protein drinks, then I wouldn't have to stress if I am eating the right stuff or too much. I have told obviously my close family and shared with some of my co-workers. I had to tell them, I am taking off an entire week during a busy time at work, so I needed their understanding for leaving them covering my responsibilities. I have been really excited about this until yesterday. I got the call from the surgery center with my exact time and now it feels real. My husband was banded a little over 3 years ago, so I have seen it all, but it just makes me nervous thnking about the surgery and stuff.
  9. Congrats! I am on the 18th! Can't wait
  10. I have gone through True Results in Richardson. I am using insurance, so they require I have my surgery done at Baylor Trophy Club on June 18th. My surgeon is Dr. Louis Fox, and so far everyone at True Results and at Dr Fox;s office have been great. All my appointments, etc. have gone really well. I had one hiccup with getting my paperwork to insurance but the staff stayed on it and we got it done and I have a verbal approval from insurance with paperwork expected any day. My husband used someone else 3 years ago, and I have to say so far, IMO, True Results has been much more thourough and helpful. Hope this helps.
  11. Good Luck! We will be thinking of you!
  12. Got my insurance verbal approval today, but True Results had given me the wrong date. My surgeon only does surgery at the Aetna required facility once per month. So instead of the 8th, it will be the 18th. I have gotten this far, 10 more days won't hurt. I am super excited. I met with Dr. Fox today and he was great. He spent over an hour talking to me about what to expect and has all of his expecations written done. My post-op diet is detailed to the day for the first 14 days. I feel really prepared at this point. I will continue to do the South Beach Diet Phase 1 through the 17th, then nothing after midnight, and surgery at 12 noon on the 18th. It is finally a reality.
  13. I start my pre-op diet tommorrow and we are going camping for the 3 day weekend. Luckily, I have to do South Beach Phase I so I can eat, just not everything everyone else is eating. I am also really glad my kiddos like veggies, so I may be eating a lean chicken breast while everyone else is eating sausages, etc... but we will all enjoy broccolli, green beans and aspargus with some of our meals. Plus, I really like salad, so as long as I don't nibble, I am hoping it's not going to be a huge deal. The hardest thing will be after we put the kids to bed, we usually sit outside and enjoy adult beverages. I guess that will be on hold for quite a while.
  14. Pepper, I am June 8th as well, but I haven't gotten insurance approval yet. I start my pre-op on Friday; I am in Wylie, going through True Results in Richardson and having my surgery at Trophy Club.
  15. You look fantastic! Good Job.
  16. Good Luck! Every thing is going to be great!
  17. My surgery date is June 8th. You guys make sure and post how you are doing. I'm a week behind you.
  18. Thanks, that made my day!
