  1. i had so much fat on my stomach that i couldnt feel my port........6 months later, i can feel and slightly see alittle nump...thats kewl with me...doesnt hurt but lets me know i am not (alone).
  2. my resolution (in regards to weight) is to continue to do what i am doing. eating better quality foods to lose weight and in my allotted amounts and to continue walking as much as i can. also to remain a fixture on this forum to not only help/encourage myself, but who knows, maybe, just maybe i can help/encourage someone else.
  3. congrats to the both of you on your recent surgeries
  4. in my mind, i have a goal in mind, who doesnt.but then if you look at the dr's recommendations, its different.. right now, i am not focusing on where i have been but instead, the direction i am going..i try focus on getting to the next set of numbers..get under 300, then to 299 and to 250 and get to 249 and now for me to get to 239..my 2nd goal 199. my first was 299...who knows what my next (3rd) goal will be..but if i keep doing what i am doing, i will get there..
  5. i read some posts that refer to that fear...but i recall asking my hub about it.. not in regards to us, but he said if a guy thinks that the skinny gal will leave, its his problem...not the gals, if a man loves you, he loves you. end of story. like you, i am not going anywhere...to think id waste 28 yrs for nothing??
  6. dont let the holidays be all about the food....food is not the enemy. eating alot of it that is high in fat/calories is...so enjoy the holidays....i am...i am not on a diet and i intend to enjoy myself...but being aware of my 1 cup allotted amount....eat this or eat that and but enjoy every morsel...then get right back on track if you think you over did it..kinda looking forward to having a piece of my no bake fruit cake..
  7. i think sometimes the band doesnt work for whatever reason, and the person hates the band...but the ones who have success love their bands because it has gave them (me) their life back. but one must help the band by using it correctly. i think to myself, i got a tool to help me..as i can now touch my side where my port is, and touch that little hard spot and know i got this.. i never looked back from june 6th.
  8. what a great set of pictures...well done
  9. its a great group and i have been blessed to make some great friends. i read the successful posts daily..gives me belief that i am not alone in this journey
  10. good for you on the first appt. makes it more real huh..i had blood work today too..i am such a big baby. they take it from the top of my hand ouchy
  11. you will get alot of responses but here is mine at almost 2 weeks, i was still on liquids and then i went to mushies and then soft...the first 4 to 6 weeks is for healing and is important that you realize what you have to do now. stopping at a cup of food is not easy for me.... who ever thought getting a band was easy will not be successful...you have to help the band... this is my life now. i was a huge/alot of stuff eater--the more the better. its a matter of want power now...i am sure i can eat way more than my allotted cup but i stop.. i want to lose weight bad enough to make that decision to do what i have to do. (to stop at one cup)..so thats what you are going to have to do now. congrats on your surgery.
  12. what a great post i hope the newbies and prebies read this
  13. you know how great i think you look. def a inspiration to me an everyone else you give me hope that maybe i can do this after all
  14. sorry about your gramdmother get right back on the mission of better health.
  15. 6 months ago, i could hardly walk and was bound and determined to be house ridden if i didnt do something...my band and plication gave me my life back..i can now push my grand baby around the block......and that is what i wanted to do...cant wait to see what i will be this time next year
  16. wow, before surgery, they too 3 viles from me and today, doing a check up, it was 2...wow that is different. they collasped my vein today ouch
  17. i loved soda and i felt like i needed an iv hooked to me...but the day i started my pre op i never had another one..my dr said no to carbonation and i choose to follow his instructions. that being said, some drink soda and some dont, i think for me, no soda/carbonation, works.
  18. genius is not what i'd call aj............
  19. **keep thinking that way..what you did to get this surgery and dont muck it up with anything less than you deserve..proud of you**
  20. 24 pounds, look at YOU you are a star...you just keep going...
  21. i did a jolly rancher not that long ago (a apple flavored one) and you would have thought i cut my arm clean off nope, let it dissolve and work its way through..as floridas says, liquids should help...(if you cant drink or swallow, call the dr)..
  22. well, you (from what my dr's told me in reference) that sutures are in place..holding the band (and in my case plication) , a too big of bite could have undone them (as they have to heal).and so on...just be careful. like floridas said, hope this scares you enough to not do it again. in my seminar, hearing these stories scared me enough to follow course. hang in there, it will get better honey, i promise
  23. i am gonna be kinda tough so i am sorry now. i am sure you are okay but you are on liquids because your insides are swollen....and in dealing with your dr and nutritionist, i am sure they advised you to stop eating at 20 min regardless if you were full or if food was left. i can eat a whole pizza..i am sure if i did little bites in an hours time. that being said, the only person you would be hurting is you. you deserve to treat yourself better. you went through alot to get this surgery...stay on track and stay focused. please, follow your dr's orders okay. i wish you a wonderful holiday.
  24. food is NOT the enemy. just the amount and the type of food...so again, eat if you are truly hungry. (take a drink of something and see if that helps--i do that all day long)...if you would have ate at popeyes, you would have enjoyed that food moment briefly and then felt like crap. i know because i was a binger/purger. def get that protein in. it is your filler if you will. it is your bodys fuel... you can do this if you want too. if you want to, do not let NOTHING or no one stand in your way.
  25. well, if you are hungry, eat. just eat smart (Protein filled foods fill you up). veggies and fruit are great options as are Protein shakes if you are needing a (quick fix). also drink all day long to tackle hunger. are you hungry or just think you are?? you own this. hang in there.
