  2. i feel most people are mentally stronger then they think they are all the inner demons we all face and the yo yo dieting, its no wonder we are scared to let the band work...why should it as everything else failed.. once we face it head on, my moment was the biggest number i ever weighed on a scale that gave me the gumption to face it head on...no more crossing the street for me...i say bring it. as for head hunger, its true......i realized it during pre op all comes down to mind over matter...i want to get healthy bad enough to do whatever i have to make it happen...something i dibbed want power..
  3. sip as often as you can...you are still very swollen from surgery as the days past and swelling subsides, you will be able to drink more..congrats on the surgery.
  4. jean, i hope the people that need to read this do and let it sink in...as its true.. i feel those who read this and balk at the common sense aspect are the ones will who not do well. as always jeannie, your words inspire me to do better
  5. when i started pre op and hence to me now, i live on my crystal light peach ice tea it works for me and if you and your dr is okay with it, go for it. it was on my list of ok items... ps: walmart and target brands are cheaper then crystal light and taste just as good i am loaded at work, my home and my purse
  6. sounds like someone who is kinda wishy washy sorry you had to deal with this.....person i will ask my dr tuesday and get some info i never asked him but now is a good time as any how you doing with your jealousy??? please MAINTAIN woman
  7. i have a pink one. says i have lap band and plication no nsaids no blind tubing i cant speak for how important they are or not. i wanted to have one for me and so i ordered me one. it cost 86 as i added pink medic alert and some extras like dark lettering but you can get them way chepaer than what i ordered. that was just my preference.
  8. (welcome to banded life) as that happened to me also. like one of my bff mads, walk, walk, sip and realize as each day passes, it will get better.. congrats on your surgery.
  9. i would think as long as (the incisions are closed/healed) but at 3 weeks, maybe not so much) its ok but i am not a doctor id ask your dr first just to be safe/sure...just give them a call monday and you will get your answer.
  10. 2 hrs after i woke up, my hub and a hot as heck nurse (male) helped me up and down the hall and we did that quite a few more times until i left for home the next day....once home, i walked as much as i was able..due to my size/knee/leg pain, i couldnt go far but i did what i could.........the more i lost, the farther i can go.... agree with maddawg on the headache for a day or two...it did go away....
  11. i eat when i am hungry in my allotted amounts.. my dr told me to pic a baby, how they fuss when want a bottle and then turn head when full...and that explained alot to me. not sure if that helps, but eat when you are really hungry and not just (head) hungry..congrats on your surgery.
  12. i take my help me sleep when i need it pills in crushed form...i found it works faster....i do take reg tylenol pills and liquid (walgreens or walmart brand)...so far no problems...i admit if i ever had to take a big pill . id ask the dr if i could half it or break it....but i think it just depends on the person. as i always say, do what your dr advises you and or what works for you.
  13. dear aj aka yellow rose of texas:
  14. I see my dr for my 10 month follow on Tuesday. I will just ask him. stay tuned...and bay, keep jealousy in tact please madam....
  15. yeah, its crazy at how different they are (some pre op diets, some not) etc. but while I cant say why they differ so (considering its the same surgery) I can only recommend going by what your specific doctor says. I have asked mine about things I have read on this forum. he shook his head mostly at the (wild assumptions and the blatant noncompliance some so openly admit to) but that is them. anyhow, I do think it is strange..oh well, it is what it is .
  16. did your doctor give you a hand out to what to eat or not to eat post op? if not, you need to contact them and follow their guidelines. on this forum we can only offer you what (our) doctors recommended, it may not be what yours wants. best to check with this as some as stated before me
  17. 9 months here and as I type this, my tummy is sounding like ozzy osbourne singing crazy train..
  18. jealousy is so ugly.......LOL sorry had too
  19. i agree mainly because i think the band is sewn onto the stomach. but am not a doctor: here is what i found when bay mentioned to this me this a.m. One of the long-term complications of lapband surgery is called“Lapband slippage” and can be defined as “when the Lapband and the stomach pouch are both prolapsed.” This means that the lap band has shifted position and the enlarged stomach pouch has also shifted or twisted so that food does not go through thelapbandinto the rest of the stomach. This may result in pain, discomfort, decreased appetite and inability to eat or drink, and vomiting. Lapband Slippage does not happen immediately but may take several months to develop. LapBand Slippage generally develops in a progressive manner. As food intake is increased, the stomach begins to stretch and grow and the patient may stop losing weight or start to regain weight. At this point, patients may only exhibit an enlarged stomach Lapband pouch. This can be medically treated by deflating the lapband to release pressure and slow the growth of the pouch (successful in 70% of cases, or surgical treatment can be considered). However, if the enlarged lapband pouch continues to grow, the lapband progressively rotates until both the lapband and the enlarged pouch become prolapsed, resulting in Lapbandslippage. This is followed by functional stenosis (narrowing) of the stomach. Risk factors or causes of lapband slippage include surgical technique, model of the lapband used, early consumption of solid foods, early inflation or filling of the band, consumption of carbonated or sparkling beverages, and frequent vomiting. How Do I Prevent LapBand Slippage? In order to decrease the risk of developing lapband slippage, it is important to follow the recommended diet following surgery and to avoid introducing solid foods too early. In addition, the fills should not be started before 6 weeks post-operatively and these Lapband fills should be very gradual. We also recommend that fills should be done under fluoroscopy, even if you are asymptomatic (no symptoms of lapband slippage), to be able to monitor the position of the lapband, and the size of the stomach pouch and condition of the esophagus. This will allow for early diagnosis of an enlarged stomach pouch or possible lapband slippage. http://arturorodrigu.../comment-page-6
  20. great job on the swimming. that is great exercise. am also glad you stopped weighing as much because sometimes the scale is just not right and if you gain (for whatever reason) it just ruins your happy attitude esp when you KNOW you are on it and doing fabulous. as long as you are losing inches, then you are losing and i know you are. good luck on the upcoming fill
  21. i had the hernia repair and some didnt and still had the shoulder pain. (the gas x did not help my shoulder fyi)....walking and doing windmills did and eventually one morning, day 8, it was gone.....what a happy day that was.
  22. are you losing inches? are your clothes getting too big or more roomier? are you feeling better? if so then the band is doing its job and making you well and you are losing regardless of what the scale says or doesnt say. i dont have any fills but i am adhering the band lifestyle and doing what i can until such time as i do get one..i also have a 14cc band..just keep eating the proper amounts of food, make excellent food choices and exercise and it will happen.
  23. use this as a motivation tool for you to keep going.
  24. good question and i see it on this forum all the time and a zillion different answers because we all have different doctors. the best answer i can offer you is for you to ask your doctor on their particular fill protocol.
  25. never to late to exercise and do your body good. so what to alittle saggy...you can do what you can with what you have, exercise and hope it tones/tightens it up OR you can have surgery..... but what matters is your better health and you my dear have done that. this close to goal...how utterly terrific is that. i have said it before, i will take some saggy on my legs/arms/tummy (my arms i could take flight i swear) and its okay w/me..better than being over 336+ again..
