  1. The weight loss will slow down. Just try and remember how to eat and the amounts...... 3oz Protein each meal 1/2 cup green vegetable 1/4 cup Carb vegetable. This should all equal a cup of food each meal. And don't forget your Snacks. If you are only a few weeks out you probably not at the solid food stage yet. But you can grind up your protein and make like chicken.salad or turkey salad.
  2. You made a good decision 1) for yourself and your health 2) for your children. Please try not to be depressed over a decision that was made regarding your health.
  3. That is wonderful!!!! I know you are a very PROUD LOOSER....LOL. my cousin too has also lost over 100lbs.
  4. That is wonderful!!!! I know you are a very PROUD LOOSER....LOL. my cousin too has also lost over 100lbs.
  5. Since the removal of some saline from my band I lost 4lbs in 6 days. When I returned to the Dr office for the medgem breathing test. I guess I will have to call them for my results since tues. Will be a week since I did the test.
  6. Eat protein!!!!! I also take biotin as well, and some of the side effects of the meds they use to put you to sleep will also cause your hair to fall out.
  7. Since my gallbladder and plication surgery I have lost 20lbs, however I guess half or more of that was due to the graduation of liquid diet to solid foods. For my 6 week post of visit I had lost 5lbs. Since my first post op appt.
  8. So here is my story...In Feb. I had to have my gallbladder removed. The same Dr. Who banded me (in 2010) also removed my gallbladder this year. While in there he also did a procedure called gastric plication or embrication to where he folded my stomach in and staples it. What this means is that the stomach is smaller and no longer stretches. At my last post op visit he removed some fluid, so i could eat without getting stuck. Needless to say I did not think I would lose any weight, but i have, and I can eat broccoli now, which of course I LOVE. I now have 3cc in my band and doing well.
  9. I should not but I have and i belch a lot more
  10. LOL......baby food was gross to me! Best of luck on your journey.
  11. Wow....your eating solid food? I was on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks post-op, then thicker pudding, yogurt like foods then onto pureed food before finally reaching solid food. You must bad careful cause you are still swollen and healing. This is why you need to be following the diet.
  12. I cannot eat couscous, rice, Pasta or raw broccoli......they all get stuck!!!. Just remember the order in which to eat ur food and the amount. Protein first, vegetable, then if u still have room eat your carbs. Protein....3oz. Vegetable...1/2 cup Carb.....1/4 cup
  13. I had my lap band surgery in June 2009. The most I lost has been 50lbs. In February of this year I had to have my gall bladder removed and made certain that the same GI Dr. Who did my lap band did my gall bladder. Being that I was successful, but not as successful as we all wanted I agreed to a plication (also called an embrication). I am now averaging 1.5-2lbs a week. And i still have my band.
  14. You are going to be fine. What you are feeling is normal for most but by next week you will say to yourself...what was I thinking. You will gradually graduate up to eating some of the things you once ate. Right now your stomach is swollen and you need to give it time to heal. Crush your pills and take them with a little apple sauce, well this is what I was able to do. Just check with your dr.
  15. Again thank you all, even the best wishes. I am feeling much better, and I pretty sure it is due to forcing myself to drink more protein. I am looking forward to starting pureed, at least it will be a different texture and at the top of my list is chicken salad, and good ole.pimento cheese, and some hummus, all without crackers of course.
  16. I too had my gall bladder removed & Gastric Pllication ... Thursday will be 2 weeeks ... I am also banded (2010). I am glad you asked, because I too have no idea what to expect from it being removed. What I can tell is that coffee sends me to the bathroom pretty quickly. From what I have read regarding the gallbladder beign removed is that High FAT foods (which we as WLS people rarely eat) experience trips to the restroom.
  17. Remember to keep Protein high and eat it first then your green vegetables. always measure and weigh. Eating this way raises your metabolism and when this happens your body burns the fat. Keep up the good work
  18. Thursday will be 2 weeks since having my gallbladder removed and Gastric Plication. I was banded in 2010, and I know I was not this weak after nearly 2 weeks on liquids. I am so ready for pureed food and to getting my strength back, and just feeling better. Other than the weakness I am doing great! I am no longer in pain...yay... I am just ready for something other than liquids. Thanks for letting me vent, I feel a little better. BTW, does anyone have any idea about how much you can eat after gastric plication, or a site that may be helpful, I ceretainly do not want toover do it, I have a feeling that I will not be able to eat 3oz. of Protein as well as vegetables. Thanks to all P
  19. I suggest meeting with nutricitionis again or psychologist who specializes is food addictions to help you with your frequent visits to the fridge. I found that I did it out of boredom and seldom every got anything out. I too love/loved starbucks have told myself that once I have lost 50lbs, then I will have a taste and when I lose 100lbs I will have another taste, that is if I liked the taste at the 50lb mark. After doing without surgar so long I dont know that I will like it as much as I use to, but my husband is willing to drink something he dislikes so I can have a taste.....but only a taste.
  20. I have no idea about Insurance. As far as eating after the band, you will learn to take small bites and chew well cause there is nothing like getting stuck, it is gross and painful. What helped me to slow down was to keep a magazine with me while I ate, and talking to my husband and daughter asking questions about their day. Then when they look at me like OK you are being weird asking all these questions while we are trying to eat, I just go back to my magazine.
  21. You may have reflux. Or if you are drinking anything from a straw will give you the burps. As for the chest pain try taking some prilosec or something like it and see if that helps, otherwise you may want to visit your Dr. and discuss it with him/her. And if something gets stuck, you deff know it cause you begin spitting foamy spit til you either get it up or it goes down.
  22. Mine is very similar to the others ...3oz. lean protein, 1/2 cup green vegetables, 1/4 cup starch vegetable. with 2 healthy snacks in between.
  23. It is normal to wait for 2 weeks, but every Dr. is different. Now of course if you are having any problems before your visit you should call and they will see you. Now my Nutritionist saw me ever 4 weeks, but I also met with her 1 week after beginning solid foods with my food log. I found my nutritionist a very valuable person as she helped me with reworking several recipes to make them more healthy and typically with a lot less sodium. You may be able to ask to reschedule that appt with her/him so that you can meet them sooner. Best of Luck
  24. continue with the vit D, it helps your body absorb calcium. I hope everything goes well for you today. I dont feel that they will keep you from moving forward because of low calcium. Best of Luck.
  25. I am 1 week post-op for gallbladder removal and plication and a year and a half post-op lapband. I found that with my lap band when you switch from liquid, to purreed you tend to gain a little. I noticed that your choice of mushy was potatoes, instead of this opt for Protein, such as making chicken salad, Tuna salad, Egg salad. just make sure that with the chicken and tuna that you grind it up well in a food processor and use a healthy Mayo and not a lot of it. and Remember to eat your protein first. and watch those starchy vegetables like potatos and corn, and eat more green vegetables. I am ready for mush, but have another week of liquids to go, and I am tired of liquid.
