  1. Hi all, I've already been sleeved (June 1st), which was covered by my insurance 100% and was done here in the states, but now my best friend wants to get it done but will be self pay since she has no insurance. Anyway, apparently the gentleman (for Dr. Garcia in Mex) she has been speaking to regarding the loan says that she was approved for 3700. He also says that she can be approved for 5000 but she would need to get a consultation from a Dr here in the states stating THAT Dr would be doing the surgery, they (the ppl in Mexico) would then submit that ppwrk to get the loan approved. ? Meaning the loan wouldn't get approved if it was for a Dr. in Mexico? Does this sound right? She is wanting the higher loan because of traveling expenses and hotel fee and any other unexpected things that may arise. Can you guys tell me if this sounds right?

Hope how I worded this all makes sense. =/

  2. Sounds like a tough situation to be in. I have been reading this thread and I feel shocked/bummed at how other (some) people have responded. I try not to acknowledge these people' date=' but I can only imagine reading some of the posts to be troublesome.

Despite the challenges you are succeeding and figuring everything out!! Way to go!!! You should be proud of all you have done!!! Congrats on your 50lbs lost!!! This is surely something to celebrate!! Keep up the good work!!! :)

    Best,

    Sannah

Thank you sooo much. Yes, I have to agree with you that I was truly disappointed with some peoples attitudes and responses. But either way, I'll be okay. I have a lot to be happy about and nothing anyone says is gonna get in the way of that. =) Thanks again, for the positive response and support.

  3. Thanks so much to everyone. Seriously, they are all great answers. Well, I went ahead and told get the partial truth last night, and something just don't feel right. It's been bothering me all night and today. =/ I never wanted to be this "spokesperson" or peoples deciding factor for thier weight loss problems (or solutions), I do feel good about when people ask me for advice I can steer then in the direction of high Protein, low to no carb, but to call my Dad a liar when in fact he was happy for me and told the truth; I feel wrong for. Soooo with all that being said, I'm just going to write my story/journey and post it. If it helps someone, great; if someone thinks differently of me, welp, not my problem. =) At least i'm free, by sharing the truth.

    Love you all. :)

  4. My question is: if you don't want questions about how you lost weight' date=' why are you posting about losing weight on Facebook?

It is your choice on how to respond, but at that point you basically just invited everyone and anyone to not only congratulate, but also to ask how.[/quote']

My answer to you is: I was happy and excited about my accomplishment and wanted to share that. I've been happily telling people that i'm eating right and exercising, that wasn't my problem; my problem was my Dad telling my cousin and not knowing how to respond to her.

Thanks everyone else for your great responses. They were very helpful.

  5. So I posted on FB today that i'm down 50lbs and have gotten a lot of congrats and such. But then I got this text from my cousin.

"hey i'm trying to clear up a rumor ur dad started.. and i dont believe it... did u have surgery to loose the weight?"

How would you respond. I didn't tell very many people, at all. (Mostly just my immediate family). I don't want to take away from all the hard work I put in by people thinking I took "the easy way out". Help.

  6. I'm four weeks out and just had Papa Murphys veggie delite thin crust pizza. One slice was super filling. I agree that the thin crust is cracker like and changes the ability for it to expand. Yes, it has carbs but it's unlike before; I would have had 3 slices of Chicago stuffed pizza. Moderation is key, and i'm only able to stick to this rule thanks to my sleeve.

  7. Lissa,

Your post spoke tremendously to me just now. I was sleeved June 1st and although I am losing and absolutely pleased with my decision to get sleeved, I still find that I put myself last.

I still have yet purchase any Protein powder due to the cost and feeling guilty for spending that much money on myself. I mean what if i dont like it, it would just go to waste and that is money I could of spent on groceries for my family. The same with my B-12 and Calcium Vitamins. It's really sad that I feel so guilty about investing in my own health and well being. But it's true that no one looks out for you except for your own self. I need to get it together and put my foot down and.realize that I am important.

    Thank you again, Lissa.

  8. Hi Everyone!!!

June 1st sleever here! Things have been going better then expected with healing. Pounds seem to be melting off (exciting!!). The doctor had me on liquids for only 3 days then moved me to pureed for 3 Weeks. Seems weird. The only thing that had me frustrated is not being able to sleep on my stomach. I wake up with a headache every morning because of it. food is becoming redundant and this morning was my first morning of Water nausea.

Above all, i'm feeling great and don't regret my decision to have had this done.

Good luck to all my other June sleevers. Ttyl!

  9. Was sleeved yesterday by Dr Coirin here in Modesto, ca. I'll be here in the hospital until tomorrow. For now, just sipping Water and walking every two hours. Dr. Coirin did an amazing job and the nurses are taking well care of me.

Worst thing was the xray they did to check for leaks, THE NASTIEST STUFF I HAVE EVER HAD TO DRINK. It had me gagging so hard that we had to stop. Dr. saw what he could and said there was no leak.

Anyway, I think is the best decision I have ever made and I'm exited to start my journey into the rest of my healthy life...

    Veronica
