  1. Before you make any decisions, be sure and weigh all your WLS options. I had my band place 17 years ago not knowing what was available to me as far as WLS and lived for all these years by what THE BAND allowed me to eat and not the healthy stuff I WANTED to be able to eat and keep down. I have lived my entire adult life sitting next to the restroom in restaurants so that I could go vomit the food that my band didnt want me to have. Happy, sad, mad.... that band ruled my life like an abusive husband and dictated what it wanted me to eat. I had it removed on 1/6/12 and OMG, what a relief! After months and months of researching (once I figured out that I didnt have to live this way anymore!) I have decided to go with the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and will be sleeved next week. Yes, this is a very drastic surgery but being overweight and miserable deserves drastic measures and from all the revision patients that I have talked to on the VSG boards, the sleeve is everything the band promises to be but never will. So again, please do your research and understand exactly what you are getting yourself into. Good luck with your weight loss journey!!!
